  1. William Shakespeare once said "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves". What I think Shakespear meant by this is that the world doesn’t hold our future or our destiny but that we do. I think that we have to reach for our destiny it's not just given to us. The stars don't hold our destiny but if we work hard enough we could achieve our goals. If everyone worked to reach there destiny they could get it. They would just have to work for it because it's inside of u but u have to reach in there and get it. This quote is trying to tell everyone if u worked a little harder u could get what your destiny is. I can relate to this with many ways. The way it relates to me because I wanted to get honor roll last year and I did. This is a small destiny that I wanted to reach and did. I want to say my biggest destiny is that I want to become a famous chef. I like to cook so next year I want to go to a vocational high school for culinary. The will be one of the biggest destinies I'm trying to achieve. I know if I reach deep down in my self I will find my destiny. Thus, William Shakespeare once said "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves". I definitely think this quote is very inspiring. I most certainly think of this quote when ever I want to reach for one of many of my destinies. So, I think the quote means your not given your destiny you have to work hard enough and you will realize it was inside of you the entire time.

  2. William Shakespeare once said, "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves." What this quote means is that you can not just expect to succeed without doing anything, you have to accomplish your goals and make your dreams come true yourself. He is saying that if you do not go do what you wish to achieve, you will never succeed.
I think that this is an awesome quote, and that William Shakespeare was exceedingly intelligent. He was a great thinker, for he knew how to think, not merely what to think.
This reminds me somewhat of the events in the life of Leonardo Da Vinci. He was put down because his parents were not married, bashed because he was not what society wanted him to be, and this discouraged him. However, he still went on to become one of the most talented artists of all time, and even came up with several ideas for ingenious inventions in his notebooks. He pursued his goals instead of giving up or waiting for it to happen, and did not care what people said about him.
I think that a lot of people should live by Shakespeare's quote, it is a good philosophy on life.

    1. I agree with you. I too just learned about Leonardo Da Vinci and I understand what you are saying, because he couldn't live with his father he didn't care about the wealth he went on and did what he wanted. He thought of things that were way before his time. and told people and when they said they didn't care about them he said he didn't care about what they hade to say. so he still went on with his life and creations and did what he was meant to do.

  3. William Shakespear once said " It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves." What this quote means is that without trying you will never get anywhere in life. You will think that it will just come to you but without working you will acheive nothing. Thats why in school you have to try your hardest so that you can pass and get good grades so that when you get older your dreams will come true. If you think that not trying and just going with the flow will get you somewhere it won't because without trying you will get no where. If everyone in this world lived by this quote all their dreams would come true. In basketball people have told me I was born with the ball handling and shooting talent I have but I wasn't I put work in at the things I needed to do to become a better player. I was in the gym everyday with my dad I worked my ass off to get where I wanted to be. An example is when I was 12 iwanted to join the travel allstar baseball team. When i made the team i finally accomplished my goal and all that hard work paid off. I think that everyone should live their life by this quote because your dream is something to strive for. William Shakespeare's quote is an inspiring quote that could impact life big. I really liked the quote Ms. Bocchino choose this week for our class to write a blog about.

  4. William Shakespeare once said "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves". What he is trying to translate is that our destiny is in us not the stars. If we want to do something with our lives then it's in us to do something about it. If you want to succeed in what you want to accomplish then you have to put that on your mind so you can work for it. You can't do nothing and say that you are trying to be successful at what you want to be if your not doing anything about it. "It is not the stars that hold our destiny", but it is in ourselves". This relates to anyone because you have to put some kind of effort in, to be successful. It's called hard work for a reason. It's not something that's handed to you it's something that you work for. And if you don't work for that thing, that destiny then what are you working for. If your not trying for what you want then what's the point of trying. It's called destiny because you want it to happen I may be wrong but this is how I see it. If you want it then do something about it.

    2. I agree with you Eli. You have to work to get your destiny. Its not just given to you. If you work hard enough you will end up reaching that destiny of yours. You have to achieve little goals at first and then go towards your destiny. Therefore, I totally agree with you Eli that you have to work for your goals in order to reach your destiny.

  5. “It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves" was once said by William Shakespeare. This quote means to me that when you were put on this earth you weren’t here for only one purpose, you have the choice to do what you want and you can choose what your own destiny is in life. I feel that many people do not understand the meaning of this quote, because they just feel as if someone will appear out of nowhere and show you the easy path through life and how to succeed. In reality you have to show yourself the path in life. The answer isn’t always going to be right in front of you. If life was meant to be easy it wouldn’t be any fun. To become something and succeed in life you have to work hard and have dedication towards it. You have to face obstacles and hard times to really find out what you are meant to do. Just because something comes natural to you doesn’t mean that that one thing is your calling, and sometimes it is. Everything in life happens for a reason and it will eventually lead you in the right direction for your true destiny.
This quote relates to my life. When I was little I was a gymnast just like me two other sisters. My older sister was amazing and so I followed her, because she thought gymnastics was her calling I thought so as well. When I turned five I decided gymnastics just wasn’t for me so I started ballet. After a couple years of that I got tired of it and took a break from sports. Then I saw a flier for recreational softball. After that caught my interest I was hooked. When I first tried it I didn’t really like it but I kept with it. I practiced hard and tried my best, now I feel like I’m starting to find what sport I was meant to do and I love it.

  6. "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves," this quote was created by William Shakespeare. In my opinion William Shakespeare’s quote means that we decide are own fate. This is because we can cause an effect in the future just from past actions. Kind of like a domino effect in the sense when you knock over a domino the ones in front of it will follow. That is what William Shakespeare is trying to say when he says "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves." William Shakespeare quote "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves," can also relate to my personal life. This is because we have all made past choices or mistakes to positively/negatively affect our life. One example that affected my life was when I was in 7th grade when I wouldn’t do my homework or study for test and as you can guess that had negatively affected my life causing me not being able to play sorts or stay in my regular classes. Another example of a negative effect on my life was not getting tested/taking precaution for type 1 diabetes before I was diagnosed. However there is a ton of positive outcomes of some past choices I had made. Some examples of that is when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes yes I know that sounds really strange coming from me, but to be honest I don’t think I would have been better off with thought it. I say this because diabetes had shown me how to become more independent. That is how I can relate to William Shakespeare’s quote "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves."

  7. "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves" quotes William Shakespeare by saying this he probably meant that its not our dreams who hold our future… its us who hold are future. Meaning we are in charge of ourselves and our future. We hold what is in store for us. I am in control of my own life and actions and whether I want to be someone important in life and be successful. It relates to my life a lot because my dad tells me this all the time as he’s giving me advice and words of wisdom. And whenever I think about giving up…I think about reaching further and not giving up. Because if I choose to drop out of school I wont be able to get good jobs or attend college and be successful and achieve my goals. If I work hard now, I determine my future and what’s in store for me. I don’t want to have any kids early and then ruin my life. But I determine that. My future doesn’t determine my actual future. I determine whether or not my future will be the way I want it to be or not. This quote is very inspiring and will make you think about your life and could make you want to turn around. You only live once. Life is what you make it so live it to your fullest abilities. Without actually wanting whatever it s that you want and actually trying to achieve your goals… you will never be successful.
