The great play writer William Shakespeare once said, "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves." I think this quote means that you are in charge of your own destiny or how you live your life. No one is going to tell you how to live it or control it other than you. Well at least you shouldn't let people try to control it. If you want to be a doctor you have to work your butt off and study all the things they have in medical school. If you want to be a sports star you have to practice and train and focus until all the bones and muscles in your body hurts a dreadful pain. Life out in the world alone is scary and unpredictable, but if you go and stick to what you want to do in life you will be fine. All you have to do is find the right occupation that suites you. Don't let anyone tell you what job or you have to apply for. Or even whom you want to spend the rest of your life with.
ReplyDeleteThis fascinating quote relates to me because I don't quite know what I want to do. Maybe one day I want to be the next Roxy Pro surfer, or maybe an actress, or maybe even a cop, or something that has to do with animation for movies or T.V. shows. But my friends and family will always support me. I have never let any one stand in my way of my dreams. I'm living my life. No body can get in the way of that. So in conclusion live your life the way you want to.
I think your right if you want to be something else be who you want to be.

I think this quote means lead yourself don't let others lead your way make your own destiny. If you want to be a veterinarian and others don't think it’s cool, what it matters to you study that. Or if you want to be an artist be an artist, don't let others put you down about it. Just like Eminem he wanted to be a rapper but his peers thought it was uncool but he lead his own way and look where he is now. He is living a normal human’s dream world. He followed his own path and he’s living the life. So if you follow someone other than yourself you won’t know what it is it like to live on your own.
ReplyDeleteThis quote relates to me because i was talking to some kids that were my friends than one of my friends that were in the cooler section of the school gave me a look and I though why am i talking to this kid. So i made up an excuse so i can go hangout with the other kid. But than i realized why would i hangout with the the other kid hes not my real friend why am i not with my real friend. So that’s how this quote by William Shakespeare “ It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves.”

What I think this quote means is it is not others that help us out, but it is what you do to make sure it actually happens. In other words, you are the one that decides your fate. You are the one who decides what you want to do and how you are going to achieve it. It’s you that can make a difference for yourself, not everyone else around you.
ReplyDeleteIf I could compare this quote to my life, I would compare it to what I wanted to do when I was young. When I was young, I wanted to be a police officer. I didn’t know how I was going to get there and what to expect. So, I talked to some people that knew what they were doing. I asked my uncle because he used to be a police officer himself. He told me that it takes a lot of work to accomplish a big job like that. “That’s why I retired,” he told me. I thought about talking to an actual police officer about it. He told me the same thing that my uncle told me. He told me that it takes a lot of bravery and courage to do a job that big. In the end, I ended up thinking about all my life. And now, I still am thinking about it today.

From the day your born to the day you die you pave your own path in life whether good or bad based on the decisions you make and the people you choose to be around.This quote to me means that your "destiny" is determined by yourself and only yourself. Based on what you want to do in life and who you want to be, you can be loved or hated its all up to how you represent yourself. First you have to over come obstacles in your life like where you are born for example. Your either born in a poor area , an area that's normal , or in a wealthy environment. In a poor area of course there's alot of problems like maybe the people, your own family, and money but if you play your cards right and do what's best for you then you'll be heading in a great direction in your life. No matter if your rich or poor you make your future day by day and all of the things you decide to do in your life whether good or bad depend the outcome

As it says in the quote that "it is not the stars that hold our destiny" I believe the stars represent not only specifically stars itself but it means that the stars represent everything in the universe and everything in your life around you but only you can make the choices you make for yourself that decide your future and the person you are because of your actions.
ReplyDeleteThis reflects to my life because i have made many bad decisions. I would get in trouble very often and would always be the one in the principles office. At first i thought it was cool because i was trying to fit in with everyonebecause they would always laugh and say i was funny when i did something stupid and bad. But soon i had realized that this was wrong and dumb of me. That i had to make better decisions then this, so i had chose to go into the ROTC program. It has made me a better person and made me choose smarter things to do then be stupid and make bad decisions. Doing this has changed my destiny and my future and i believe this is what i think William Shakespeare meant by "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves".

ReplyDeleteThis quote means in my head is that you make your own decisions, and you choose what will happen in the end. The quote stats that the stars don't hold our destiny. With this quote I think that it means that nobody else holds your destiny, just yourself. You choose what you want to do and what person you want to be. That is perfectly fine in my mind. Only because you don't have anybody saying what you are going to do.
This quote reflects my life in many ways. This quote reflects my life because I can only choose what I want to do with my life. When I grow up I could either be a cop or a trainer. What ever I want to do is all within my mind and what I put my mind too. So this quote reminds me a lot of myself. I have thought about it a couple of times before. I could either be a nobody with my life or I can have a great paying job, with a lot of free spending money. I am glad that i have many years ahead of me before i have to really choose what my destiny is. So William Shakespeare once said "it is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves." What this means to me is that our lives aren't meant to be arranged individually, but our destiny is what we plan to do with our lives on our own. Our futures were not determined by the gods, but what we want to do to benefit our lives and the people's lives around us. What we want to do depends on the way we take in the world and our surroundings, constantly finding new and different things that interest us and make us want to change and benefit the world.
ReplyDeleteWhat this quote also means is that whatever you think that you are destined to do, you should allow yourself to follow that dream. Nothing should block you from chasing your dream, including people and other different obstacles. This quote heavily influences my life with surfing by making me want to surf even if it kills me. People tell me all the time that surfing is a waste of time and that I should do something productive instead, but to me, surfing is my life and without it I wouldn't be the person I am today. Nothing stops me from doing what I love doing and I believe that surfing is not only a favorite hobby of mine, but something that I should continue doing non-stop. There is nothing I would rather be doing than being deserted on an island to just surf for the rest of my life. I would not want to be like the generic American working in an office, but I would rather do something I know I will enjoy doing.

I want to do what is best for me so that I could have a successful life. You only live once so you have to make your life the best as it could be. That is what I think this quote means and how it relates to it.
I feel that many people do not understand the meaning of this quote, because they just feel as if someone will appear out of nowhere and show you the easy path through life and how to succeed. In reality you have to show yourself the path in life. The answer isn’t always going to be right in front of you. If life was meant to be easy it wouldn’t be any fun. To become something and succeed in life you have to work hard and have dedication towards it. You have to face obstacles and hard times to really find out what you are meant to do. Just because something comes natural to you doesn’t mean that that one thing is your calling, and sometimes it is. Everything in life happens for a reason and it will eventually lead you in the right direction for your true destiny. This relates to anyone because you have to put some kind of effort in, to be successful. It's called hard work for a reason. It's not something that's handed to you it's something that you work for. And if you don't work for that thing, that destiny then what are you working for. If your not trying for what you want then what's the point of trying.
