ReplyDeleteWilliam Shakespeare said "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves" what i think this means to me is that we make our own destiny. not anybody else or anything else. its our decision too get where we want in life, so we have too make the right ones . My experiences is that its like when me and my mom get in a fight , we can provent it. Instead i choose how its gonna end , when i keep going with my attitude.

But its in ourselves to fulfill it. That's what I think he means. This quote can relate to me and some of my friends because we all have dreams especially when were kids. Micheal jordan once said "Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen" that quote also relates to William shakespeare because those people who dream and to become something in life they put that goal in them to make it happen. DeleteWilliam Shakespeare once said "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves" I think Shakespeare is trying to say that the stars are people that are trying to tell you what right and what's wrong but it is our self that guide our own destiny and how we deal with the problem thrown at us and how we deal with them. I also think that this quote means that you cant always have something or someone else hold your destiny you have to do it yourself and push yourself to go and conquer your destiny. this quote relates to my life because I don't have other people hold or help me get to my destiny I work hard in life so I know that I reached my destiny by myself but it also relates to my life in football because my destiny is to become something big in football and im working on getting there already in life. in the past three years ive worked very hard to become who I am and and im still working on who I want to be in life. as a young kid it is hard to find your destiny at such a young age but at this young age it can help a lot with conquering ways to get to your destiny. I haven't gotten that far in getting my destiny but since ive started at such a young age ill have an advantage to get it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mike how he is saying that don't let people tell you what is right and wrong. He is also right were things can't or people can't hold your destiny until your ready. If people always look for other peoples destiny then everything would be the same and no one would make there own destiny. Like Mike said he pushed him self to be who he is today and how its better to establish a destiny at a young age so you can work on it. I think what mike is saying is completely right with what Shakespeare is saying in the quote.
DeleteWhat Shakespeare is trying to say don’t look in the stars and daydream for your destiny to happen but instead look inside yourself and make your own destiny. By that in mean destinies aren’t always planed you can make your own your destiny could never happen until you get older but u can shape it and make a little platform for it to grow on. If people didn’t make their own destinies inventors wouldn’t really help in this world because there not making their own invention. If people look in the stars for their destiny and tried to do what others did for theirs then people would all be the same and nothing special would happen. Your destiny can also depend on your environment u grow up in because it can make you look at the world in a certain way and could make you grateful or greedy.
ReplyDeleteI can relate this to me because I don’t know what my destiny can be I’m still young but my actions that I do at this age could shape my destiny in the future. You can almost ask any person I come in contact with that I’m a really nice person and I’ve been through a lot and that’s going to shape who I am and what I’m going to do with my destiny. I think that when I get older my destiny will involve helping others and I will make a difference in this world and I will be successful. This is how I can relate this to myself.
Sometimes people dont know their destiny but like you said your actions will help shape who you are and help you find out your destiny. Especially on the views because everyone was brought up different so they have different opinions. Overall, everything you have said is on point

What I think Shakespear meant by this is that the world doesn’t hold our future or our destiny but that we do. From the day that we were born, our future isn’t unchangeable; we can always change our future so never think that it is set in stone. For example, from birth , Kevin Durant- A 3 time NBA All-star, 2013 All Star game MVP, 2013 Scoring champ and 2013-14 MVP- was supposed to be a failure. He had every reason to quit, every reason to think that his fate was held by the stars, that it was “set in stone”. Growing up, Kevin Durant didn’t have a father; therefore, they were dirt poor. Throughout Kevin’s childhood , he’s lived with many other families than his own. Some examples of that would be when Kevin was 13 he lived with his best friend for about a year. When Kevin was 16 he had lived with his high school basketball coach(Whom died at age 35, which is significantly the reason why Kevin Durant wears the number 35). Once his coach died they didn’t have a replacement so the basketball team was discontinued. Kevin could of thought that this was a sign for him to quit. A sign that the “stars”/universe was telling him that it’s over, to take a bow, that the shows done. But he didn’t stop there. Everyone who knew Kevin knew that he was going to be someone. The local gang affiliates left Kevin alone. In an interview with’30 for 30’, the members- whom will remain unnamed- said that Kevin was like Moses, that he was going to take them to “The Promise Land” . Also that he was going to put their city on the map. The people of Kevin’s community set up a fundraiser, the fundraiser earned him 195,000$, which was just enough money to go to Oak Hill Academy coached by legendary Naismith Hall of Famer. He went to the school and he teamed up with Ty Lawson. Most NBA players went to Oak Hill when they thought all hope was lost. It turned some nobody’s into somebody’s. In conclusion, Kevin persevered past what the universe messages were telling him and became one of the best players in the NBA right now .

DeleteThere is a difference between destiny and world influence your destiny is some thing can't avoid but world influence is what they want you to become. Destiny is what yourself will or what you become. World influence is what man want you to become. For this reason I disagree with this quote.

I rely on my mom a little too much. She is the one that tells me to do my chores, wake up in the morning, and do my school work. I have created a bad habit for myself. I am now in high school. By now I should have gotten rid of this bad habit. One day my mom won’t be by my side and then what am I going to do. I can’t rely on my mom to tell me what to do. I should not have to have to be told what I have to do at the age of 15. Being in high school has made me think about my future, my destiny. I need to start doing things by myself for myself. ReplyDeleteAlvin says something really important in his blog. Alvin says that our parents aren't going to be by our sides one day, and that's so true. All our lives up to now have been with our parents to help us live, one day there not going to be here. I agree with Alvin because he tells us that in life its up to us and how we live it not your parents or anyone else. And that is why I agree with Alvin when he tells us about William Shakespeare's quote.

I think that when the says stars I think the means people and they are trying to guide your destiny but it is yourself that will determine what you want or willing to do to guide your future. It is your own life that you have to control if you let other control your destiny you won't have the successful life you wanted. In my life my parent are trying to control my social life but that makes me want to not to do what they are telling me to do I am 15 years ago but my parents are like a donkey rider consistently telling me what to do. I put up with it but sometimes you can't hold it back and the rage comes over your like a mist of smoke. In a whole some people are going to tell you what to do but it is your own life that you control. This song called "My Life" comes into my mind when I think of this quote in the song the chorus sing "My life makes me want to run away", but it is go to run away from all of the crowd to get your thoughts together and think. In life there are going to be people that tell you this is the way to go but let your self choose your destiny.

What I think William Shakespeare quote means is that the way we chose things in life are the things that make up our destinies and the stars don’t hold them because they're not the ones making the decisions for us because we're the ones making the decisions for ourselves. Anyway what I mean by this is that if you ever come across something that is good or bad and you chose good than your destiny will be good, and if you chose bad than your destiny will be bad (unless you try to change it). Therefore as you can see the pattern here the decisions you make within you is what holds your destiny and nothing else. Furthermore William Shakespeare's quote relates to my own life when it comes to choosing what is right for me and what is not and the things I chose on impacting me and my destiny.For example during my 7th grade year I was starting of by making bad decisions for myself and by me doing this it got me in some trouble during my 7th grade year. Therefore during my 8th grade year I started making better decisions for myself which help me a lot and improve myself back then and right now and I am still learning and trying to make better choices for myself today, that will help me make a good destiny for my future. Therefore this is what I think William Shakespeare meant by his quote and the examples I can relate it to my own life.

ReplyDeleteI think that this quote means that we should always believe in our selves and not give up. We are giving up to much that's making us think that we can't do anything. For example I use to do gymnastics and I always wanted to do my front hand spring on the trampoline. I tried once and I didn't get it so I thought that I wasn't ever going to get it. I didn't believe in myself at all. I always thought I could never do it until i practiced it. I kept doing it and doing it until I finally got it. Once I got it I knew i could do that. It also meant I could do anything if I put my mind to it. I just think that sense people are also telling people that they won't be able to do anything they don't try. If you try you'll always be successful. I think that what he said "it's not the stars that hold our destiny" means that it's not the world that can tell us we can succeed it's our selves that can tell us that. If you don't believe you won't succeed. That's how I think of it. Another example is in JROTC. I thought i couldn't do the drill or get the creed. I know the drills. I got them down from my sister Samantha. I also got my creed by just believing in myself and keep looking it over.

We shouldn't always rely on our parents doing everything for us and helping us throw everything. We shouldn't just stop trying things. We should never give up on our destines or dreams. I rather do engineering because I like to build things and I have a good imagination and I am really good in math.

But i cant rely on them forever i need to do things in my own. You cant always live with your parents or ask them for things. You need to be able to do things on you own. Just like what jared said.

Also that you have to be independent and make your own dreams come true. Only you know what you want. Do not count on others to make your dreams come true. Some people think that god has their whole life planned for them. That they have to do what god wants because he made them to do it. I think that the only person who knows what is best for you is you. If we did not make our own decisions there would be no creativity in the world. There would also be no choice and, there would be no right and wrong. If we did not hold our own destiny nobody would know what we want. Our is destiny is unstoppable, nobody can tell your that what you want for yourself is wrong because only you know what you want. Philosophers have been arguing for centuries, and will do so for many more to come over if you have a set path that was made for you to follow or if you have to create your own. We know what is right for ourselves, and we can make what we want happen. If we had predetermined lives it would be super less interesting, and exciting. The world would be way more boring if people could not make their own decisions and do whatever they wanted to do.

We don't make our destiny by staring up into the stars hoping for it to happen, but to put it into action and is your responsibility to make it happen. Say that when you were young that your destiny was to become one of he best soccer players in the world, you made the choice to want to become the best. You basically promised your self that you would try as hard as you could to become amazing. For those of you who do read this and get slightly confused I have good example that would fit this quote. In the game known as "Destiny" you start off the game stranded in the middle of no where and get awoken up from a "Ghost" who tries to get you to safety. Earth is weak as the darkness plans to consume anything that gets in its way and that includes the entire solar system. You reach a place that is called "Sanctuary" where you are safe and find a guy that lives there that says that Earth and the solar system is at its Darkest Age. The character you play as asks if there is anything you could do and he say that you could try to save humanity after all it is your destiny. I probably got the meaning of this quote wrong but everyone has their own opinions on things. Anyway, we make our own destiny and try as hard as you can to be able to reach it even if you take some hits you get back up on your feet and keep fighting for it until you get what you wanted from the start.

I think this quote means nothing is written in stone but you have to make your future. Like Ray Rice punching his girlfriend in the face. When he was born he wasn't certain to punch his girlfriend in the face or make it to the NFL. I wasn't certain to be the best ginger ever but hard work and kindness gets you somewhere now a days. especially when you came to the world only 14 years ago. You have to make your own destiny, yeah sure you'll get a lucky break now and then. Like Derek Jeter He was the New York Yankees captain and the face of baseball. not to mention he's number six on the all time hits list. He didn't get there by slacking or not getting the job done. Its like the quote from major leagues "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going." This reminds me of a time I meet Alvin Davis and Carly cauda, My two best friends. I knew me, Alvin and Carly were going to be best friends but I would have to start it off. it was the first day of eight grade. It was in Miss. Bocchino's class and it was period 1/2. I told Alvin a joke that wasn't funny that's how it started with Alvin. Carly I just started talking to and we became the ginger squad. That's what I think of when I hear this quote.

William Shakespeare once said "It is not the stars that hold our destiny, but it is in ourselves," to me this means that we have the power to make ourselves something life. We have to work for it not just wish that something will happen. Also we cant let other people try to choose our future, because we have the choice of what we want to make of ourselves. Sometimes people are to lazy and don't like to work hard, but if they just sit around they aren't going to get anywhere except for the destiny of their couch. When I was younger I played the flute, I wasn't as good as the others, but I didn't practice anymore than I already was. Weeks went by until finally I told myself i needed to try more instead of just dilly dallying around. I worked myself until I was at least one of the best, as I got better I realized how beautiful and soothing music was. I started dedicating it t myself all the time; there was no one else except for music and me.That's when it hit me like a ton of bricks. Music was my passion and my destiny. It was and still is my everything. I know that I am still not the best but I can try to improve myself a little bit everyday and strive to be big in the future.

However you will have to work for it and not just let it happen.Sometimes your parents or other people will try to tell you what to do in life. For example. some people will try to get you to do some bad things such as drinking.smoking etc.. Don't let people do that to you because then you will have a bad future if you do that stuff.This quote relates to my life because i had just joined a new hockey team last year and i did everything my coach asked me and he gave me alternate captain , which means i have an a on my shirt. I had just joined this club and i got one of the captain letters. I had to work for that. Another example is this year i should i made the better team for hockey and i got screwed. i was mad but then i thought to myself if im on the team that i am on now i will get more ice time and i will be a better hockey player. i have already gotten better.My team picked captains and i am the captain of the team. Even if you feel like your parents a controlling your future they’re not. You can say no or yes to anything you want it is not up to your friend, parents, or sibling it is up to you. And I’m not saying you shouldn’t take advice from the people you know. I’m just saying that you can say yes or no to what you want and no one controls your life. For a example when I got a Ps3 my brother was saying that I should get these games. But I didn’t like the games that he said so I said, “I’m not buying them I already know them and I don’t like how they look.” And he didn’t care about my opinion about the games he said and just said, “Ok” and walked away. Another time I was failing a class in middle school because I wasn’t doing my homework in that class because I thought the class was stupid. After finding out that I was almost at a 59 in my class started to freak out. I asked the teacher if he had any advice on bringing up my grade and he told me that if I make up all my homework he will boost my grade up to a seventy even if the assignments were super late he will give my credit. So that what I think William meant.

For example, when you’re born you aren’t just given a future. When you get older, your destiny isn’t handed to you because you have to choose the paths we will take in life. Another example is that I would like to go to college. If I just goof around and don’t work for my good grades I won’t get accepted into the college I want to go to. One more example is when I first started to play soccer. I was really scared and wouldn’t play in any games. I really wanted to quit but I kept going because I wanted to see how it would affect my future playing soccer. We can’t just sit back and expect to get good grades without putting the work into it. Life isn’t easy and forming our own destinies will be a struggle. When we were younger we all probably had dreams that we thought we would instantly obtain when we became older. Now we need to make the right choices to reach those dreams. We “ourselves” are the only ones responsible for our successes or failures.

I think this quote has many meanings to it but my personal opinion would be, I think that it means you can't always rely on other people to either do something or tell you everything, you have to believe in yourself sometimes. " it's not the stars that hold our destiny .." Means that you can't rely on people to be there for you in the future because people might turn and ignore you. But it is on ourselves" I think means that you need to rely on yourself for your own life. Certain people might not always be around for you when a time comes that you need them, so you can't always rely or and trust some people, the only person to fully rely and trust on is yourself. This quote relates to many experiences in my life but one experience would be when I was best friends with this girl for 2 years and she turned on me and we got in a huge fight and weren't friends anymore. She said she was always going to be there for me, but not everyone is always going to be there for you. I think this quote by William Shakespeare is very wise and has very great words. This quote has a great meaning and is very true. You always need yo believe and trust yourself the most because not everyone is going to be there for you in the future.

ReplyDeleteWilliam Shakespeare said this to tell us that we hold our own lives. That what happens in our future is because of us. Not what anyone else does. And its all in us, Its what we think and want it to be. He also tells us abit about our individualities. He tells us about this by stating about the stars. When he says that the stars don't hold our destiny hes telling us that other people don't make our decisions, but we do. Hes saying that our own life is in our own hands.
I can think about a time where I can relate to this quote. One time about four years ago, I had this friend. She always told me what to do but i never noticed. I only noticed because my other friends told me and asked about it. I then realized that she wanted me to be like her. But it was different then being myself. So then i stopped letting her boss me around and started being myself again. I made sure that i held my destiny of what i am now. I can agree with you Carly. I agree because i have a friend too. He always wants to do what he wants to do. When i was outside a long time ago, i was playing basketball. He was bored and wanted to go up to his house to chill. He was like Ish come with me, i was like where are we going. He said that we're going to his house to chill. I said no i don't want to chill, i wanna stay outside and play basketball. He got mad and went to his house by himself. And I stayed out just playing basketball. Thats how I can agree with you.

Well it means that just because soneone else wants you do do something doesnt mean it is what you have to do. Just because you where told to you have to becone a doctor instead of an artist.
