  1. “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.” by Maya Angelou is a type of quote that can be debated. To me this quote could mean a few things. For example, having different a prospective on certain topics that you aren't fond of that cant be changed. I also think this quote means that taking a second look at something can change how you feel. Last, I think this quote can mean that there are always going to be things in life you don't like or that you don't want to do, but life's not fair. Yes, I think what Maya Angelou is saying is as she makes it seem, because having a different attitude could change a lot more then we think. I can relate this quote to a lot of times in my life when this quote was applicable. One time in my life where this quote was applicable was when my best friend took his life. This quote is relatable because death is obviously never a happy thing...and it cant be changed. I was in 7th grade when my best friend committed suicide, and I was crushed. It was really hard to accept that he was gone, and it felt like a piece of me was missing, and after about a year I changed my perspective or attitude, and was thankful for the good times and memories I got to share with him. I changed my attitude even though it's still upsetting knowing that I had the privilege to have the time I did with him. I also took it as if he was hurting for such a long time, and knowing that he isn't hurting anymore, and that he is happy was better then him being here in pain. It was hard losing such an important part of my life, but I changed my attitude, and now I have an angel watching over me. Another time in my life where this quote was applicable is at the end of every marking period!!! My grades in school are always A's and one or two highs B's; however I always feel like I could improve. At the end of a marking period, it is impossible to change your grades once they are finalized. But, having a positive attitude and mindset, I tell myself I will improve my grades in the next marking period. Last this quote “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.” by Maya Angelou can also relate to the most important man in my life Mitch Lucker. He always said "don't let the miniscule things in life keep you down, keep your head up and you'll get through it no matter what" I think this quote and Maya's are similar because they both send a positive message about how to view the bad things in life. This quote could mean a lot of different things, and can relate to everyone in at least one way. In my opinion everyone should always try to take the bad things in life, and turn them into something good.

I also think it was very strong of you to talk about your friend taking his life. I know it may have been hard for you. No person should have to endure so much pain that they feel like they have to end it all. Keep up the good work with these blogs, you are such a great writer. I really enjoy reading them every single week.

  2. The quote, “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude” by Maya Angelou can mean different things but the way I look at it is by life. I say this because you cannot like life, you don’t like anything the way you live or the people surrounding you. You can change that by doing many things. You can make all new friends or even move. Also you get a better education to make your living conditions better. But when she says you can change your attitude she means to look at life different. Look at the positives not the negatives. Life doesn’t go the way you want so make the best out of what you have. Yes what she is saying is what she makes it seem because I see it all the time. It happens to everyone. About 4 years ago I broke my leg and I couldn’t do anything about it. I hated life I hated everything I just didn’t want to do anything anymore. It stopped me from doing a lot in life. But after talking to my mom told me that sitting around and hating everything will just make it harder for me. So I changed how I felt about it all. I stopped looking at the negatives and turned to the positives. And is what made me the person I am today. Without talking to my mom I think I wouldn’t have done anything after that. It got me so mad because all I wanted to do was play basketball but for months I couldn’t and I had myself know that after it came off I was going back to it and that’s what made me happy again.

  3. If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude”- Maya Angelou. I believe this quote means to make the best out of everything and anything. When life gets you down, there's not much you could do about it, except make the best out of it! Sitting around being miserable about bad situations only makes them worse. I believe the meaning to this quote is, live your life with a positive attitude and good intentions. It's the best way to live. There were many points in my life where this quote was applicable. When I moved to Bayville, I absolutely hated it. I was terrified of going to a new school and had no idea what I was in for. I was honestly planning on not going at all, but that was only my mind set. Deep down, I knew that I had to make the best of it. I walked into my new elementary school with my head held up as high as possible and made a bunch of new friends. If I had decided to stay with my grandma, I never would have met the amazing friends I had met going into elementary school. Yes, I was scared and it did take me a while to get into the swing of things; but what new kids doesn't have those troubles? There's not much I could have done, except make the best of it. Life throws situations at everybody all the time and like I stated before, there's nothing you could do except make the situation better by making the best of it. Even if you're completely discouraged, making the best of it might fix your day. In my opinion, this quote is extremely meaningful/ powerful. It could either make or break somebody's day.

    1. Mia,
Your blog this was week was astonishing! I love when you said that you have to make the best out of everything. Also I like when you said life with throw you difficult situations, because it really does. I find it honorable that as a new kid you walked into a new school with your head held as high as possible, and even made new friends. To sum it up, awesome job :)

    2. hey Mia, i think you defined this quote very well. You gave great examples and i love that you said you had to make your best out of everything because its true. You have to try. Also, im glad that you moved to Bayville , with a positive attitude because an attitude just like that can get you somewhere.

  4. “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.” - Maya Angelou. I think this qoute means that if you don't like something, don't just keep going along with it, try to make it better in your favor. If you can't change it, think of a few new ways to make it better. Yes I think what she's saying is how she makes it seem because I believe it's pretty clear with the way she stated it.
A time in my life when this qoute was applicable was last year. I didn't like the way my softball coach was teaching us. We never won any games, and it seemed as If he didn't care. He even tought throwing and hitting wrong which were the basics. So halfway through the season I confessed my feelings about the way he was coaching. I told him I was tired of losing every single game and that I would like to help couch all the other girls.
I told the coach that I could teach pop ups and grounders, hitting and catching, and throwing and pitching. I also suggested that we change positions since those weren't working out either.
Convincing my coach to let me help was successful. The next practice I taught them more and more stuff. Every practice they were improving!! Finally winning games was the best feeling ever, and all the others girls were happy with us too. Two girls even realized that they love being the catcher, which they said they would have never realized if I hadn't taught them. I wish I would have confronted my couch earlier, because just going along with the horrible teaching conditions, was really bad. So in conclusion, I think people should try to change things if they aren't working out in your favor because life is to short and you should be able to enjoy it.

  5. Maya Angelou once said “if you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” This quote has so many meanings. This quote also means something to me. This quote means in my opinion, if you don’t like the outcome of something change it and if you cant change it you shouldn’t of been doing it that way in the first place. For example when I was younger I used to get okay grades compared to what I do now but when I was younger I would study and still get those grades, I changed how I did study and still it didn’t work. I think I started getting better grades because I changed my attitude about school. I actually wanted to get honoroll but when I was younger I really didn’t care. I realized that with out getting good grades I wouldn’t be able to go anywhere in life. After realizing that if I didn’t do well in school It would change the outcome of where I go to college and even what job I would be able to have when I was an adult really changed my attitude towards school and just life in general. I think what Maya angelous quote was straight forward. I think she meant exactly what she said. “if you don’t like something, change it. If you cant change it, change you r attitude.” What she meant was that if you don’t like something or the outcome of something change it but if you can not change it change your attitude towards what you can not change. why waste a bunch of time that you do not have to trying to change something that you cant change anyway. This was a great quote.

  6. A wise woman named Maya Angelou once said “If you dont like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.” This quote could mean many possible things. To me, this quote means that if you do not like the way that something is, then you should try to do something to fix it or to make you like it. Then, if you can not fix it, then it must be something else, like yourself. If it is yourself, then do something to fix it or change it. For example, be kinder to people, or more generous,or even more positive, etc. There is always room for improvement, even if it is your attitude. Yes, I do think that what Maya Angelou is saying is as she makes it seem. I believe this because if you change something, then you might like it. Also, if you change your attitude towards something, it could change your whole outlook on that one thing.
There were many situations in my life were this quote would be applicable. Mainly, when my friend wanted me to start cheer when I was younger. Then, I did not really think I was the “cheerleading type”. She told me not to knock it until I tried it, so that is exactly what I did. I tried cheerleading and I was able to do it with some of my best friends. This is when I realized that I loved cheering. I was also dancing at this time but stopped it when I realized how much I enjoyed being a cheerleader. I cheered for about five to six years, and when I stopped, I was really upset because I never wanted to end. I was able to change the way I felt about cheerleading by actually trying it out, and it was probably one of the best things I possibly could have done.

  7. “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.” Maya Angelou said. She was wise. If you honestly dislike something, you should try to change it, but if you can’t, live with it and change yourself to enjoy the way you see things you dislike. If you dislike things, you see things as bad. If you can’t change the things you dislike you have to learn to like them or deal with them. It’s similar to life. If you don’t like something in life, you learn to move on without solving the problem. Instead you should look at what caused the problem, and look at it differently to understand the causes before disliking it.
I could’ve used this in my life a long time ago. Ever since I was smaller I never liked eating foods that touched. I never really looked past the food touching and tried it. I continued disliking it until this day and I continue to avoid eating anything that touches at all costs. This quote seems to make me look differently at the foods I eat. Even though it’s a simple example, I could’ve used this quote a bunch more times in my life to change my attitude and change the way I look at things before I instantly dislike them. Another example is when I was in third grade I fell of my surfboard for the first time when I rode it. I was learning how and I had just figured out to stand without falling. I wanted to give up because of frustration. Luckily I continued and didn’t give up or else I wouldn’t be who I am today. Instead of disliking surfing all together I learned to change my attitude and try again.

  8. Maya Angelou wrote a very meaningful quote. This quote states “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” In my opinion, I believe that this quote means that you’re not going to like everything that life throws your way. If so, try to change it in a positive way. If you cannot change what you don’t like, and make it more bearable, then change the way you feel about it. Try to think of it a little bit differently. For example, try to tell yourself that… even though I don’t like this specific thing, I have to do it whether I like it or not.
I do believe that she is saying it as she makes it seem. She means that sometimes, you got to do what you got to do. This is a good mentality to have in life. If you go around, putting everything that you don’t like aside, you are not going to have a successful life. You are going to be stuck working three hard labor jobs. Also, you will constantly be collecting unemployment. That is not the kind of life you want to live.
This quote is applicable to me just about every week. I don’t like doing blogs. However, if I don’t do them, I will fail. For example, last marking period, I did not do one blog. As a result of my actions, I border line failed for the marking period.
However, this marking period, I have done every sing blog, every single week, and I’m not failing anymore. It is not that hard to just get it done and over with, then to just not do them, and fail. So remember, just get the stuff in life that you don’t like done, and you wont have to worry about the consequences.

  9. “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.” Is a quote once said by Maya Angelou. This quote means many things. To me, it means that is you don’t like something or have a problem with something, do what you can to change it. For example, if you don’t like your body. If you are overweight and you want to change it, don’t just SAY you want to change it. Do something about it. You need to have a steady diet and a lot of exercise in order to reach your goal. If you just sit there and say you want to lose weight, but don’t actually work for it, you wont lose any. If you can’t change what you don’t like, change your attitude towards it. For example, say you don’t like a classmate. You can’t change the person themself, then change how you feel towards them. Youre not going to like everyone you meet, but try to be as friendly as possible. You are going to live a miserable life if you just sit back and have a problem with everything but don’t do anything about it. There are some things you just can’t change, so make the right decision by changing how you feel towards that certain person or thing. I do think that this quote is very forward. She didn’t intend to confuse anyone, she wanted to be straight up and get to the point. As another example, I don’t like the color of my walls. I am not going to just keep saying how much I don’t like the color. My mom wont pay for the paint, so I am going to work and save up to buy paint.

  10. “If you don’t like something, change it.If you can't change it, change your attitude”. To me, this quote means to always try your best or make it your best. I think this means to live with a positive attitude because it can get you somewhere, instead of having a negative attitude. If you have a negative attitude about everything, things could go wrong. If you don’t like the way something is, try to change it. Or try to change yourself. You never know, things could turn out to be great! I do believe that Maya Angelou is saying is as she makes it seem, because if you end up changing something or yourself you might like it. You might not have thought you weren't going to like it but you end up liking it. To add, it could change the way you look at things, you may look at them differently than you did before. There are many times in my life that this quote works for me. For example, when I heard about Field Hockey, the coach wanted me to play and I didn't know what it would be like. I had to stay after every day, and it’s also a lot of running but i was up for a challenge. I wanted to change something in my life, try something new and i do think that a lot of people today should try it. I ended up loving Field Hockey, and i think it was a good change for me because I work hard. I made my way onto Varsity this year, as a freshman!! As you can see, I'm very happy with my decision to change. This quote is a great quote and i do recommend people to try something new, and if it doesn't work out change your attitude. Just like Maya Angelou said.

  11. “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.” By Maya Angelou. This qoute has many meaning and everyone has different views on it. To me this mean if you dont like somthing , then do something about it. Dont just sit and do nothing change it so you will be able to like it. Also if you cant change it then change your attitude. If this something cant be changed then you will have to look at it from a different view and learn to accept it. In doing so you will be able to like it better. I think Maya is saying it exactly the way it seems. I believe this is honestly how she felt and she ment it to have been said this way. This qoute can also relate to me with my experiences in my life. For example there was a time where I couldnt have somthing my way. I really wanted to change it and do something about it. Although it didnt work , no matter what I did I couldnt change it. So I decided to change my attitude, I decided I wasnt going to care anymore. If I dont care it wont bother me , I changed my view on things. This is how it relates to me and it may relate to anyone. If you dont like somthing, then do something about it and change it , if you cant look at it from a different view and change you attitude. Just as the qoute says.

  12. Many people don’t know how lucky they are to have the things they have, and most of us are so negative about every aspect in life. Maya Angelou said “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” This quote means a lot to me actually, because I feel like I complain about the dumbest things. I feel like there is a solution to every problem, even if it’s not the solution you want. You either have to fix the problem yourself, or find another way to fix it; like make it positive. Instead of fixing a problem that you can’t really fix, change your attitude towards it and make it positive. I feel like I’ve been through these situations plenty in my life. I mean these are the two options every time there is a problem.
One time, my grandma had a really bad aneurism. My 10 year old cousin was the one to find my grandma on the floor in the basement before she had to leave for school. My cousin had to leave, but I still had at least 15 minutes before I had to leave. I saw the ambulance leave from my house from my bus stop, and it was kind of hard to pay attention all morning because I had no idea at the time what really happened to her. My stepmom picked me up during 3rd period and drove me to the local hospital, where my mom and family were. I got a text from my mom saying that the situation was bad, and I believed her and I was upset but couldn’t cry, I didn’t feel like it was real, I couldn’t understand the words ‘dangerously sick.’ I got there and eventually I got to see her. I don’t understand death much until it happens, so I couldn’t grasp emotions to let out. I kind of just cried a lot because of my mom’s sadness. They transferred her to a really good hospital an hour and a half away, and it turns out she beat a lot of odds. They told us 50% of aneurism patients don’t make it to the hospital, and 30% of the people that make it don’t make it through surgery. She made it through both. And while the doctor told us everything, all of my family was in tears, but me. I realized that we are so grateful, we don’t even have a reason to cry, things could have been so much worse but we got so lucky. I couldn’t change the fact that she was sick, but I changed my attitude toward the fact that things could have been so much worse.

  13. “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.” This quote by Maya Angelou could definitely require some thinking when it comes down to it. I think this quote could mean a lot of things. One thing that it could mean is that if something is being done in a way that you don't like, you should change it. If you can't change it then you are going to have to learn how to deal with it. This quote can relate to my life in many ways. One way this quote can relate to me is when my dog died. When I first moved to Bayville, our apartment complex wouldn't allow certain breeds of dogs. One of those breeds were pit bulls and our dog Rouge was a pit bull-mutt mix. So, we weren't allowed to bring him. We gave him to my uncle's neighbors who we were good friends with and were able to visit sometimes. Rouge was getting old and during the summer of 2013, he died from cancer. It was very hard on me because I had grown up with him. He was a very playful dog and he was always there for me. He was one of the best companions I had ever had. Even though it was hard to let go, I eventually did and I realize now that he had a great life and he is in a better place now. In conclusion, the quote “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” can mean a lot of things. This quote requires some thinking to comprehend it. To me, it means to try to change something if you don’t like it, if you can’t, then you’re going to have to learn to deal with it. You will be faced with this type of conflict many times in life. Sometimes you’ll be able to change things up, and other times you will just have no choice but to deal with it. It is all apart of life.

  14. in my opinion I think that the quote “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.” - Maya Angelou means that if you really don't like some thing go out and do something about it. if you don't like to sit home on the weekend by your self then go put and try out for a sport. and if you are not " athletically gifted'' then go out and make some friends. ask your friends to go out and ride your bikes or go to the park and play tag or walk your dog. there are endless possibilities that you can achieve. and if this dose not work then change your attitude. you can always have a bad attitude towards some thing's that you don't like to do. for example a person that is unemployed should not just sit on the couch and hope that the job gods will just give him a job he should change his attitude clean himself up and be a go getter instead of a simple old Johnny that sits on the couch and sucks up his parents air conditioning and eats their food. in my opinion I think that what she is saying is what she really is trying to say. this is a quote that is very strait forward and direct. it dose not go to what you may think you should really chang your attitude. people always think that the gods of what they are doing are just going to rein down on them and give them the power to do what they want to do. don't just be lazy and procrastinate because " procrastination is the thief of time'' Nordic Giants.

  15. “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.” - Maya Angelou
What I think maya angelo's qupte “If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.” means is that you change your attitude you will be able to succeed. Sometimes things in life are difficult and you try hard to complete something and you are unable to do it and it becomes frustrating. When this happens you feel like you want to give up and not try anymore. For example, there are many things that life brings you that can be difficult. One could be overcoming a fear. Fears can be debilitating to a person and you can become frozen and not be able to move on. But if you are able to put things into persepective and try to change your attititude and look at things differently you will be able to slowly overcome your fear and succeed.
Another example could be is that sometimes things can not be changed in life and they are the way that they are. You may not like it but you have to come to accept it. This can also be difficult to accept when it has to do with things that involve your life and your surrondings. Sometimes you have to change your attitude and work with things that you have. Then try to make it work out right so this way you can suceceed in endeavors.
