The quote “Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” is every inspirational because if we don't think about our actions it might hurt others. This quote could also mean that when we do something or say something there may be others around to hear it and then they will think it's cool or awesome to say so they will start doing the say thing. This quote could mean anything to anyone but to me this quote screams out one meaning. This is the quote that has people take charge of there actions and to see what they do affects others. The quote could also be like if you make someone feel bad and be mentally in pain then that could make them shy and self concerned because they don't know how to act around people without knowing how they will react to what they say.
ReplyDeleteIn my own way this quote has affected me because my one little cousin is always by me and watching what I do or how I do things. This quote always reminds me of the way I should act because she might do wrong things if I do those things so I always try and act nice and polite to people even if they aren't polite to me around her. I want her to go up to be like me but I want her to learn to be different and herself because she is amazingly smart and she always follows what I do but she needs her own way. The path that I am moving along right now is a great one because I am doing good in school and being as helpful I can to anyone I wish everyone is the same way but I can't really say that because different people have different ways of life at home so we all are different but different is good. This quote could mean different things to others but it means a whole bunch to me.
I agree with you Jessie. I like the fact that you said that it is vey inspirational because I also think that this quote is very inspirational. I also like that you said that you shouldn't say something because there might be someone there to hear it. If your did say something and the person heard you they could become shy and self considered. I think this quote means be careful with what you say. This is because if you say something bad then it can get around and others can see you. When it says it will plant a seed it means it will stick. It is really to get in trouble for it because a lot of people look online and could tell anyone. For example if you say something bad about someone over the internet anyone can save it and it can hurt your life bad. I say that because many colleges or works look at your social media and judge you by that. Another thing is says it that it’s a failure in the mind of another. I think that means that those people that see it will also judge you and this different about whom you really are. A lot of people now at days don’t care about anything and think no one older would look until they get in trouble and possibly not get into the college or job you want to be in. It is all about maturity and some people don’t have it therefore they won’t get into the things that they want to be in. I saw this happen before with my mom. Someone at work said something about her on the internet and their boss saw it and talked to both of them. After he talked to both girls, he fired the girl that said something rude. The girl changed the situation by saying sorry but she still got fired. This quote is great because many people don’t get how it really affects them.

I say this because I hear many quotes base of the central idea of what this quote is trying to get across to the reader. The idea this quote is trying to get across is that be careful of what you say because you could ether negatively or positively affect the person you are talking to. For example if some one ask if the look fat in their pants the wise choice is to say no because if you say yes then you don’t know what they would do to change their appearance. And I know that is a silly example however that is some thing we are told the most just like the saying bite your tongue. I also think that if I was t rephrase what the quote means to me in my own words that is would be “mind what you say because the other person may,” because even though if you don’t care the other person would. Another part I can take from this quote is about using little white lies that could cover up minor stuff that could majorly affect some one. That is what I thought of when I read this quote.

For example say if you were talking to some one of a different race and said some thing that could offend that person how do you know what he would just take it as a joke or actually be offended. I say this because this had happened to me before with my African American friend and because of my stupidity we now don’t talk any more. That is why you should think before you speak.

I love this quote because its something I need to learn how to do. I never think twice before I speak. I always get told the I need to think twice before I say something because I always end up saying something bad or something I didn't mean to say. Therefore, I relate to this quote a lot. I would say usually when I do say something without thinking twice it make the person I said it to it makes them "fail." I have said something really mean to one of my friends before and she stopped talking to me for like 3 months. It took forever for me to regain our relationship. This has taught me the lesson to think twice before I speak. This happened to me also my mom said something one time and I couldn't talk to her for a long time because she hurt my feelings. I wasn't expecting my mom to say something like that. This has definitely helped me think before I speak because it could definitely get you in a place that you don't want to be. I have never tried to hurt one of my friends through what I say and I never plan on doing so. This quote has got me to strive to be a better more outgoing person and because of that I am who I am now. I love this quote for many reasons and the main reason is because it has taught me to think twice before I speak. DeleteThis quote “Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” means a few different things to others but to me it means watch what you say to someone because it can either put doubts in their mind and have them be a failure in life. One mean sentence to someone can go to heart but when your saying something nice.. it motivates them to do better and be better to be a successful person in life. Were all human and its important to respect one another's feelings . Just to be considerate even when its stated to All aloud in general . And by saying "plant a seed " meaning being put and sticking to carry on there in that persons mind . There was a time when I said something not so nice to this girl when we were in elementary school and now ever time she sees me...I think it comes up again and I know I hurt her but were cool . I did apologize ; she knows I was young and ridiculous so I made a lot of mistakes but anybody should realize and really think about their vocabulary and what it means and how it can hurt someone else . Even though nobody does take the time to ever do that . I've been hurt before with words too so I can relate... my dad used to call me retarded and more so it sticks forever but I try to tell myself I'm not and do good in school but you also can't take back what you say . I think this quote mean you have to be careful of what you say. Your words can affect someone for the good or the bad. Knowing that you are an influence on younger kids you don’t only have to watch your action you also have to watch what you say. Doing or saying the wrong thing can leave a bad impression on someone. People will most likely remember the words that you said to them especially if they left a big impression on them. That could be good or bad. I feel as if people now a days just don’t think of what they say and just say what just comes to mind, people don’t have filters what they think they say.
ReplyDeleteThinking about this quote made me relies how much of an impact I have on other people’s lives. After school on most days I babysit my neighbors. They are 6 and 4 are just learning about how to act and treat people. I try to teach them myself that you have to be kind to others and talk properly to one another with manners. I want them to grow up and be kind and help other the way they were taught. At their age they copy everything the older people do because they want to act older and feel grown up. Just by teaching the simple things I see that they already do what their parents and I have taught them. My other neighbor just had a little baby girl and when all the neighborhood kids are playing outside, the older one goes over to the youngest and helps her play the game. Or just is kind to her so she’s not left out. I realized just by doing simple kind things rubs off on people and helps teach them how to act.

For instance, if you compliment someone on something they are skilled at by telling them they are excellent at it, then they will want to do it more. If you tell them they are bad at it, they may still want to do it more, just to prove you wrong, but it all depends on the individual person, I suppose. It could also cause them to give up, but it all comes down to them, as I stated before. Additionally, if you are someone they admire and aspire to be like, you are going to have an even more immense impact on them with everything you say, since they look up to you. A time in my life when this quote was applicable would be when ever I have any form of intelligent conversation with any of my friends, acquaintences or people on the internet. I am a very opinionated person, and when ever I debate with one of my friends about a political, philosophical or scientific topic, my arguments will influence their opinion if and when they lose (what can I say, I've had a lot of practice debating. I love to verbally spar) unless they aren't very open to new ideas, or aren't voicing some of their arguments. Even so, I probably typically instill some form of doubt in their minds about whatever point they are arguing for, even if I am playing the devil's advocate. Everything affects your psyche in one way or another because we all absorb information and analyze in in some way, then come to conclusions based on such information. Basically, we all think. We all have brains, and we all use those brains to make decisions, and these decisions may be impacted by a person drawing on their past experiences and interactions with other human beings. Sometimes this is not the case. It depends on whether someone is a heavy Se user or an Si user. (This is from a form of psychology called typology, specifically Jung's functions.) Se is all about living in the moment and observing what's there when it's used as a dominant (first) or auxilary (second) function. If so, the person using it lives completely in the moment much of the time. If it's a Tertiary (third) or Inferior (fourth) function, the user probably uses Ni more and is more future- oriented.
ReplyDeleteIf someone is a heavy Si user, or even uses Si just as their Tertiary or Inferior function, they'll draw on their past experiences a lot more. So will low Se users, because their unconcious Si comes into play more for some reason. So it really all comes down to how a person thinks, which is determined by their function order, which is genetic by the way.

ReplyDeleteWhat I think this quote means is that if you say something good and positive and motivational to someone it can change that persons mind into doing something good. Saying good things can make someone proud. Saying the bad things set people to failure. Bad things that are said to put people down or not having them have there image in there head of there future is making them not try. Why do that if your going to hurt and not believing in them.

This is a great quote, one of my favorites to be honest. When he says think before you speak, I think he means think twice before you say something. When he says your words and influence will plant the seed of failure or success in the mind of another, I think that means if you say something stupid and hurtful to another person, that it will stick with you, you gotta be careful of what you say because you can have a great friendship with someone and one stupid comment can ruin it all. I can relate to this because I used to joke around with people and one person took it seriously and hates me. Also, i can relate because in math my teacher took my phone and I went off on him and he was pissed at me until I apologized and the result was a detention so I always think before I speak, so I don't make stupid, rediculous mistakes like I have in the past. So I will tell anyone to think before you speak because it could end badly for you. In my opinion it means that be careful when you speak aloud. Your words can have a big impact on someone's life or someone's feelings or more. Most people don't understand the power their voices have when they speak to someone. People can remember what you once said to them and rethink something or impact a decision of theirs.
ReplyDeleteYour voice is powerful and can change the way someone else talks or thinks in their lives and means a lot. So before you go and say something you might want to think about who it might impact and the changes it can cause. Think about what you're going to say and make sure it's not going to alter anyone or anything terribly. One time I said something that hurt my friends feelings and I wasn't aware how much my words can influence someone. I later apologized once I realized how I was wrong and we just forgot about the incident. It made me think that I should've consulted my conscious before blurting out what I said.
Think twice before just saying something you might end up regretting in the future. I think speech can impact someone's way of thinking or their life in general. Instead of saying something negative and hurting somebody's feelings, it would be better if something nice was said to the person. Thinking before you speak can always be great if you correct yourself in your head and not make the mistake out loud. To sum up the quote itself, before you say something that you didn't mean or you messed up on, correct yourself in your head and fix it before saying it aloud where it has a great affect.
