“Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another,” was once said by Napoleon Hill. I think this quote means be careful with what you say. This is because if you say something bad then it can get around and others can see you. When it says it will plant a seed it means it will stick. It is really to get in trouble for it because a lot of people look online and could tell anyone. For example if you say something bad about someone over the internet anyone can save it and it can hurt your life bad. I say that because many colleges or works look at your social media and judge you by that. Another thing is says it that it’s a failure in the mind of another. I think that means that those people that see it will also judge you and this different about whom you really are. A lot of people now at days don’t care about anything and think no one older would look until they get in trouble and possibly not get into the college or job you want to be in. It is all about maturity and some people don’t have it therefore they won’t get into the things that they want to be in. I saw this happen before with my mom. Someone at work said something about her on the internet and their boss saw it and talked to both of them. After he talked to both girls, he fired the girl that said something rude. The girl changed the situation by saying sorry but she still got fired. This quote is great because many people don’t get how it really affects them.

I think the technology part was really good because with all the technology advances in todays everyday life people are updating there every breath. Constant tweets, and posts on social media, especially cyber bulling. Technology today makes it very easy to save things and get others in serious trouble that can affect there future. Last I agree that people don't realize what they say can really affect them and there future; maybe even there reputation. Great blog entry this week. <3

Words are very powerful, and sometimes can mean a lot more then we think. This quote is something I live with everyday because that's what I was taught as a child was right. Treat others the way you want to be treated. However, in present day some people don't think before they speak. Some people are careless about others, and simply don't have a filter. Some people may think something is funny but to someone else it could be hurtful. A few years ago when I was going through a hard time In my life it felt as if I was always the target. Everything someone said or did to me made me turn to negative thoughts, and negative actions. When someone said something to me or even in a joking matter wasn't a joke to me. I think the hardest thing to do was sit there and listen to people make statements or joking remarks about something that you care strongly about, or even just a touchy subject that makes you comfortable. This quote is about something that takes place everyday in life. This quote is important because you don't know what someone is or has gone through, or what there life is like at home, or what thoughts run through there heads at night when everyone else is sound asleep. The quote “Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” is really easy for me to relate to because I went through so much and I no what its like to take in all the negativity and pain. People don't realize that just saying the wrong thing could change someone's life. Think about it. What if you were the one that made fun of another student or said something hurtful and that night that student took there life? What if you made a "yo mama" joke and that persons mom passed away? What if you were the one someone was attacking. My point is words are powerful, and sometimes we don't consider or realize what we say. Instead of saying something negative to someone, compliment them, say hello, or even if its just a smile. A smile can save a life. My parents always told me if you wouldn't want it to be done to you, then don't do it to other people. The quote this week could be interpreted by my fellow classmates differently however to me words are so powerful and could affect others or even ourselves in a positive or negative way; and everyone should think twice about what they say.

A lot of peoples lives have some really personal things happening in them that can keep them awake at night. Words can be very powerful. This means, be cautious of what you say because it can make you seem like a bad person in the mind of another. Also, think of what you say before you say it, you never know what that person feels about what you’re going to say. So you should make sure that you don’t say the wrong thing, and have someone think badly about you. For example, if you text someone something hurtful, they are most likely to take it in a bad way because you didn’t choose the right words. In the quote it says, “your words will influence will plant the seed of either success or failure” meaning it will stick with them. They will either think of you as a bad person or a good person for the rest of your life because of the words you said. Once again, think of what you’re going to say before you say it, it can lead you the right way instead of the wrong way. There is a time in my life that this quote relates to. I got into an argument with this girl, and I wanted to talk on the phone to explain the situation. She decided to text me instead and she didn’t choose the right words to say. She screamed at me in a text message, and I knew that she wasn’t my friend. I choose the right words to say because it made me the better person. She wasn’t being a good person by telling me I’m wrong and a mean person in such harsh words. So I decided I wasn’t going to be friends with her if she talked to me like that or blamed me for something I didn’t even do. This quote is definitely helpful for people if they are going through a tough tine talking to people, choose what you’re going to say in your mind before you speak, so they don’t think bad about you the rest of your life.

This quote can mean many things but I interpreted it as saying that if you are going to say something, think about it before you blurt it out, would you want someone to say what you are going to say to you and how would you feel if some one did. If you were to say something bad or un kind to someone, how would they feel. If they take some thing you said the wrong way it might possibly stick in their mind for a long time and when ever they want to do something that might be what is going to hold them back from doing what they want to do. Before you say something mean to someone, ask yourself if you would want that said to you and how you would feel about it. For example, some people might say I am not that good at baseball, honestly I don’t care what people say but some other person might take it offensive and get upset about it but you never know what the outcome of saying something mean to someone else will be. They could take what you said and turn it into success or they could take what you have said and turn it into negativity and failure, think about what you say before you say it because if you say something harmful to someone they might not take it as motivation they might take it just the opposite of that and will never do something again because of what you had said to them. Overall I think this was a great quote.

This quote has a huge impact on me, if I'm being completely honest. I feel this means to be respectable, to not say anything you would not want said to you. Even if you feel as though somebody deserves it, somebody may get the wrong impression of you. I believe once somebody gets the wrong impression of you, you're not yourself anymore. As much as I believe that being yourself is important; I also believe being respectful and being somebody you're not is just as important. Along with that, if you say nice things to somebody without meaning them, you may give them the wrong impression as well. In that sense, it's not you that would be hurting though; it would be them. Hurting somebody's feelings or hurting your own impression on people is very harmful. This quote was applicable in my life many times. I used to pretend to be somebody I was not and before I knew it, people were thinking wrong of me. They thought I was a bad person, but had no idea how much potential I could bring to the table. That period of time made me realize just how important it was to know who you were & to embrace that and only that. There's nothing more important than being yourself. Another time where this quote was applicable, was when I met a friend of mine in the sixth grade. I found that she acted different and much more rude in front of her other friends, and it really bothered me. People started to think of her the wrong way and so did I. It wasn't hard to tell that she was pretending to be somebody she was not. After I spoke to her she had realized what she was doing wrong and changed for the better in every way possible. It is extremely important to know who you are and be who you are. This quote is extremely important & great, in my opinion.

Delete“Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” In my opinion, I believe that this qoute means that you have to take into consideration what your about to say, before you say it because if you say something bad, then you may teach other people it's ok to say that bad thing. One example of this is if a big brother is cursing, then the little brother and or sister are most likely going to start cursing too, because they want to be like their older sibling. It's like another qoute "monkey see, monkey do." And with the whole cursing situation, that could potentially plant the seed to failure in life because the younger child believes it's ok to say those things.
ReplyDeleteOne moment in my life when this was applicable to me was when I was younger and I told my cousin he was really annoying and I hated him because he was being an annoying brat :) well, I guess I was a little to serious sounding because he started crying and actually believed me. We didn't talk for roughly about a whole year, but then were reunited at the family Christmas party. We were instructed to make up, and apologize for being so rude to each other. I apologized first, then he apologized second, and we were back to loving each other again!! I was able to change the situation and clear things up with my cousin, so we started on " a clean slate"
We were both young kids who didn't mean what they were saying,And I don't blame him for being upset and hating me. It was my fault, and I should have thought twice before I threw that insult out of my mouth.
At home and school we always learn the importance of thinking twice before you speak, and I think everyone will have an experience in their lifetime, at least once... Where they should have thought twice before saying that comment.

People often don’t realize that words can hurt.You know the old saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me?” That old saying, to me, has no truth to it at all. Words do hurt. I know because words have hurt me in the past this is one way that this quote can relate to me. It all started in grade school around third grade. I didn’t have a lot of friends and I often spent a lot of alone time on the playground. People called me things like weirdo and annoying and I really didn’t have any true friendships like the other kids. I was pretty shy so it was hard for me to make friends. The few friendships that I had didn’t last long, they started shutting me out a lot and I didn’t really know what I was supposed to do. Thankfully, I moved in fourth grade and got a new start. I made new friends and was able to make incredible friendships that I still hold today, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. (223) This quote can also relate to many people all over the world. Did you know that approximately 800,000 to 1 million people take their lives every year because of the words said to them? Words can get into peoples heads, even if the words were not true. I think this could explain the second part of the quote which is “your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” Always treat others the way you want to be treated, otherwise, it turn out good for either of you.

You should always think before you say something. Even if your words mean nothing to you, those same words can mean the world to someone else. It can also crush someone elses world. “Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” This quote is saying to think before you speak because you words can influence someone to try their hardest , yet it can also cause someone to give up. I don't know how this relates my life. I don't talk to people and the that do talk to all have said something horrible. It also doesn't relate to me either. When I speak to people I say what I want , if it sounds harsh than it sounds harsh. It doesn't matter if the person takes it the wrong way then thats on them. I believe this is what the quote means and it does not relate to me.

However, I look at it too meaning that no matter what, you should always be careful with what you say because what you say could have a totally different meaning to the person that you are talking to. For example, sarcasm could be taken in many different ways. Some people could take it as funny, the people with a good sense of humor, , some may take it as just an answer, and some people might take it as offencive. To me, I would say that I have a pretty good sense of humor, so those things don't usually apply to me, but it really just all depends on the topic. For instance, if someone says something bad about my favorite singer or band or something like that, I honestly would not really care. However, if someone said anything about my friends or family or anything like that, I would defend them because that is just the kind of person that I am.

It is called cyber bullying and it is when someone will say something bad about another person on the computer, and it is usually because they do not have the nerve to say it directly to the persons face. Some of the things that people say can be really cruel. Whenever I see something like this I try to tell an adult as soon as I can because the person that the mean statement is towards can take it in a really bad way. I know for sure that if someone ever said anything bad about me I would tell someone to get the other person in trouble. You should always treat people the way that you would like to be treated. I know that I would not like someone saying something cruel to me so I would not do it to anyone else. Also, this could be positive. Someone could decide to do something and you may change their mind and things will work out for them in the end thanks to your own wise words and wisdom. People in today's society haven't learned about this quote yet, as it seems. People don't understand that their words are as powerful as they are. A persons opinion can change a whole situation in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteThis quote reminds me of a time when people decided to comment on how I dress or act. I wanted to change, I wanted to be something I'm not, all because of a simple comment. They told me simple insults that made me view myself negatively and I began to hide from my own decisions in fear of other opinions. When people say things, they don't seem to notice that what comes out of their mouth can mean the world to another. The quote explains that people tend to make simple mistakes on their choice of words, taking someones mindset and turning it in a different direction for better or worse. The seed plants in their head as if it's all they hear and think about, and it soon turns into a goal or ambition. The others opinion makes you want to become another person, or a better person. Either way, you should always be yourself, and ignore other peoples negative thoughts. As the quote simply states, "Think twice before you speak"

One word you say can really change everything to you or it can effect someone else. Many people don't realize but words can really hurt someone. They think that you can get hurt only by physical pain but someone can be emotionally hurt too. Yes, something you say can make them happy but it also can bring them dowm to failure. One word can ruin someone's day. When it said it will plant a seed of success or failure, to me it means that it was either something mean you said or it was nice and it made the person happy. No matter what it will always be there. It doesn't matter if it was nice or mean someone will remember about it so it will stay there. I can relate this to myself by I can see people say nasty things to other people and they don't realize how much it hurts them. Now a days people just don't care what they say. You can be the nicest person but someone will find something to say to you that will bring you down to failure. Then there's some people who will actually be nice and say something good that will bring you to success. People could say things to me thinking it wouldn't hurt but inside it did hurt. Not many people realize how much it hurts until people start saying things to them. That's when they don't say anything. This quote means that you should think about the words you are going to say before you say it. You should always think about your words because your opinion on something can change the way another person feels about it or their attitude toward it. For example, if somebody was excited about having science and like doing new things and somebody started to bad mouth the subject it could make that person not like science anymore. That person could have grew up and became a actual scientist or worked for NASA but, now they are not doing what they like to do and has a terrible job instead of a great one. ReplyDeleteA time in my life when this qupte was applicable was when my friend came to my house and he ate over. My mom had cooked butternut squash and my friend had never had it. My brother did not like it and described it as slimy and gouyy and it tasted like rotten corn. My friend ended up trying it and described it as my brother did. Who knows if my brother did not say that it may have been a different story and he would have gone home and told his family about it and they would have liked it. The the butter fly affect would have come into hand and he would have had a friend try it. But let people have their own opinion. Let them not like something because of a different reason than you do.
