"Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another" once said by a anonymous person. This quote makes sense to me. I think this quote means that you have to think before you act and go talking to the wrong person. What I mean by that is if you say something stupid in front of somebody then they will be like " wow this person is not that intelligent." They could also see you going now where in life. Lets say for an example you get a job interview. You show up nice and you talk nice, us intelligent words, and look good. They are going to hire you. But if you show up and your like dirty and not showing respect they are just going to say next. You could also talk like your some hot shot from New York and think you are cool. All the people are going to think of you is stupid. In the eye of the job interviewer he is going to think that you need to work at Mc Donalds.
ReplyDeleteThis happened to me one time in life. I went to the hockey rink one day before a game and saw the hockey director. This guy is big, not fat but like he could get you into the NHL if you worked hard enough. My coach introduced me to him. So I did the usual like nice good hand shake, looked him in the eye and started talking to him. We had a good conversation and before I went onto the ice before my game he said "you know Sean, you are going to go somewhere in life." I was surprised and said thank you. That night he called my mom and said that I had great speaking skills and he loved that. So the way I talked to him he knew I was going to have success in my life.
I totally agree with your comment. If don't think about what you say and blurt it out in front of an important person it could totally screw things up. They might not give you that job if they think you're unintelligent. Maybe not that promotion if they don't think your serious enough. So you should always think before you speak because it could make you or break you.

One thing is that you should think about what you say before you say it. You can really hurt peoples feelings from it. Maybe even lose a really close friend of yours. And you don't want to do that over literally the stupidest thing you have ever said. Some people are just really sensitive and don't understand that you didn't mean it. Or they take it as an insult when you were just trying to crack a joke. Sometimes it's also interpreted as a miscommunication and every thing can go completely out of wack. Another meaning is that you can get you or some one else injured. Think twice about your actions or words. You don't want to go into a sticky situation when you know you could have done that one thing first if you just thought of it before you jumped right in.
ReplyDeleteThis relates to my life because when I was much younger I did a pretty stupid thing. I was hanging outside with my three friends and little brother. Then my brother dared my one friend to jump the fence. She chickened out so without thinking I said, "Bet I could do it no problem!" So I climbed the 6 foot tall fence and jumped. Turns out I landed wrong and took a terrifying trip to the emergency room. I broke my ankle. Then I turned around and lied about it to my mom without thinking because I didn't want to get my butt kicked for climbing the fence. She found out three weeks later because my friend slipped up. I got grounded for two weeks in the end. Moral of the story think twice about your actions because the consequences will be worse.
I totally agree with what you are saying. Saying the wrong thing can hurts someone's feeling and it could cause you to lose one of your closed or best friend and no one wants that. And t when you feel your words are the reason you did that cause if you never said anything the your ankle would be fine am du didn't wannt to chicken out after that cause then everyone who be like i knew you couldn't do it

DeleteA man who is unknown once said “Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” To me this quote means that words actual have a big influence on how people view us. A lot of people think that saying exactly what comes to mind is okay but this could also cause a lot of problems. For example say you were trying to get a job and the whole interview went get but then you think of a funny joke and not think about how other people will view it and the next thing you know some other guy gets the job. Also there are those trick question where you really need to think before you answer. For example a lot of times people will as if they look okay and if they don't look good your not gonna say no but you also wanna tell them. Words are a big and I know people say actions speak louder then words but I honestly think they are equal cause words can fix something or break something just like actions you just have to think how to say something so no one gets mad at you or so you actually get the job. Stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteThis applies Tom,y life my I am not very good with words. Like I say things and they come out in a completely different way. But I never remember to slow down and think about how to say it so it doesn't come out offensive or mean. Also like even time I say something my friends do take it the worst way possible. So when you do talk you really have to think cause words are very very very powerful.
I definitely agree with what you said. I think it's true that words have a big influence on how others view us. You have to be careful on what you say or else it will all go wrong.

I believe this quote could mean one of two things. It could mean that if you say something with out thinking before you say it and it could possibly be a negative thing and couldn't make a negative effect on someone but also you could be lucky without thinking a can succeed with influencing others. What i mean by my examples is that if you say something to fast such as a racial comment (just an example) but if you make some comment to a person they might take it a different way then someone else or how your friends might react because you aren't thinking before you talk because your used to being open and talking regular like that to friends. Also if you think before you talk you will get further in life and will succeed in many things because you will know what to say for example, If you go for a job interview and don't think through what your going to say and come unprepared then you won't get far and most likely won't get hired. But if you come prepared and know what to say and have a plan and know how to control the interview then you will get far and impress your interviewer and will have a higher chance to get hired for that job. Thats why thinking before you speak is very important for impressing or not impressing and put a bad impression in their head of you if you don't think before you talk thats why its so important. What I think it means is watch what you say to others. If you say something positive to someone, that person may build a self-esteem and want to keep dreaming on and someday fulfill that dream. If you say something negative, that person may become hurt from what you said and lose that self-esteem, then eventually stop going toward that dream. That’s why (unknown name) wants us to think before we speak. To prevent dream crushing on others’ dreams and potentially their future.
ReplyDeleteThere was actually one time in my life when this actually happened to me. I always wanted to be a police officer. I was young when it happened, but it still impacted me. I always went around and told everyone how I was going to be best police officer the world has ever seen. Then, there was this one person. That was person that changed me and my opinion for good. He walked up to me and said, “Ha! You’re joking right? You think you have what it takes to become a police officer? The best you’ll probably become is a security guard at a local town mall.” That put me down so much. I stopped believing in my police officer dream and went on to something else. I still remember it like it was yesterday what he said to me. It really sets me off whenever I think about it. This is what I think that (unknown name) was trying to explain to not just me, but to all of us. I believe he wants us to watch what we say to others.

For example , There was a SpongeBob episode when SpongeBob had a good idea of ''Pretty Patties'' and Mr Krabs and Squidward thought it was a bad idea , so he went home that day and decided to tell Patrick about it and decided to sell them. Few hours later the news network was broadcasting a large line from the front of Patrick house and all the way to the Krusty Krab , Mr Krabs was watchimg and got mad because he never thought SpongeBob would make as much money off a stupid idea. He came down to the line and Finnesed SpongeBob for selling him the stand and gave him the keys to the Krusty Krab. The next morning , Mr Krabs thought he was going to make money , An angry crowd came back demanding for their money back , not knowing that the ''Pretty Patties'' had some flaws to them. While Mr Krabs gets chased by the angry MOB , SpongeBob was at the Krusty Krab squeaking pickle slices , [ Mr Krabs not knowing that the store doors were locked] He continued running away.
ReplyDeleteI think your opinion on this quote is spot on. Though it differs from mine it is a very good response. I also liked how you gave an example from something you have seen! The reference to Mr. crabs really helped to show what you meant.

I think it means that we should be careful of what you say to others because the way they retain those words may be all the difference. What I mean by that is if you where to tell someone that it was ok to slack off every now and then. But in reality that person was already failing and he thus took your advice and slacked off. Now it is your fault that this person is failing and won’t be able to graduate or pass the year. The words we say to others especially those who are younger then us and look to you for guidance are greatly taken into part of those youths actions. And knowing this should make you understand to not give advice as if that was a situation on your part but on the other persons, Meaning that you need to take other peoples life compared to yours in consideration before giving out advice. There was a time in my own life where this quote was applicable. I was working at the recreational center and I gave out advice that I should have thought twice about. I was helping a kid with his homework in math and I couldn’t understand the question. So I told the kid,” sometimes it’s ok to put a guess in if you don’t get the question” and so the kid put a guess into the answer box. The next day he told me he got a bad grade because he got that question wrong. I at the time did not know the teacher had graded on if the answer was right or not. Because my teacher did not. I should have asked him ahead of time.

What i mean by that is i'm trying to make a point. Things will spread so make sure you say the truth and back up your statements because you don't know whats in store if you say the wrong thing.
ReplyDeleteI would know from experience. I do have an example from my life and it was the biggest mistake i ever made. I cant explain it clearly but i told a big lie and now i am still hated for it. It was a very stupid thing and i wish i can take it back. So just to wrap it up think before you speak or you can get in big trouble like i did.
I agree with you because your right. If you don't think before you say you can end up saying the wrong thing and can really hurt someone. Also you might say something that you think sounds right but in reality it's just wrong. That's why you always have to think. That's why i think your right.
DeleteSomebody once said “Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.” What this quote means is that you need to start thinking before you talk because the words you do or the actions you take part in may cause someone to think good or think bad of you. For example, If I were to call someone ugly, whether it be true or not, If someone hears that they will start thinking that I have no sensor on my mouth or that I am just straight up disrespectful. Also, who wants to be around a person who is always doing something wrong. Like if I hang around with a group of bad kids, people will start thinking of me as a bad troublemaking kid whether I do what they do or not. I would be considered guilty by association and they would have false accusations in their mind about me and I don’t think anybody would want that. On the other hand, you should watch what you say so you only say good things. If you only say good things that will make you a likeable person. For example just saying “how was your day” or “good morning” can go a long way and mean a lot to a person who is having a bad day. You would want to say good things because whether you know it or not, most of the time there is always someone looking up to you so if they see you doing wrong they may start to do what you do thinking that it is okay. So basically whatever you do will have a positive or negative result in someone’s mind, you should always be careful of what you do or say because you never know who’s watching.
