*What does this quote mean to you? How does it relate to
situations or obstacles you have faced in your own life? Give an example from a
movie, book or history that could relate to this quote and explain how it does.
"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." This quote was said by a man named Albus Dumbledore in one of the Harry Potter movies. I think this quote means that even in the worst parts of your life, you will always have people there for you when you need them. Also, I think the second part "if one only remembers to turn on the light" means that in the darkest of times you still have to remember to let people help you and be there for you, even if you think you don't need the help. Also, I believe this quote could mean that even though you are going through dark times you can always find a bright side to the darkness if you try. If you try to find the positives to the negatives then your life might not be so miserable. This quote relates to me because of my dad. About 4 years ago my dad decided he wanted to be a corrections officer. This involved him being away Monday morning-Friday night, and he wasn't allowed to call me or anything! Basically I had no dad except for the weekend. I was only a little girl and I was a huge daddy's girl so not having my dad around all the time with me was super tough. When he came home on the weekends he would always talk about how much pain he was in from running 15 miles a day or how they only gave him 2 minutes to eat every meal. In total he was a totally different man because he had lost 45 pounds and was stricter because that's how he was being treated. This made me really upset because I was young and it was kinda scary seeing my dad go through such drastic changes. For 16 weeks this nonsense went on. But, during the whole thing my mom consoled me and told me that through this rough time, he was doing it because it's his dream job and he was doing it to make a whole bunch money for our family. At the end of the 16 weeks there was a graduation for all the people who made it through the academy. Myself, my mom, and my brother all got dressed up in our nice clothes and my dad got dressed in his new uniform and police hat. When he was done with the whole graduation ceremony I was so proud of him I cried. It was a really tough time for him and seeing him so happy when he finally did it and was done made me the happiest girl in the world. In conclusion, the positives I found to the negative were that my dad was so happy he's doing his dream job and supporting us at the same time. I couldn't have been any prouder to call him my dad.

What it means to me is that anybody could be happy as long as they use reasonable spot in their mind. If somebody is always miserable and grouchy, you'd probably believe there's going through a bad situation. They could be happy if they used a reasonable part of their mind. There's no way that if you're unhappy, it's IMPOSSIBLE to become happy. Nobody needs a companion, or anything else to make them happy. All it takes is a little change in their state of being. To me, this quote means that if you use your mind enough; you may become happy. You may find light in situations you thought were absolutely terrible. The light in those situations can and most likely will spark your heart and your mind. Everything can be fixed in life when you find light in it. In my case, I believe this quote relates to any deaths I've had in my family. My family and I try our best not to be upset, or lose our cool in any situation. When there's a death in the family, we bring out pictures and talk about all the good times we had with that person. We find light in a situation that most would be miserable over. I'm not saying there's no sadness involved, but we try our hardest to cover that up and use a reasonable part in our minds. This book relates to many dates in history, many movies and many books. The situation I choose to describe is the Great Depression. Personally I did not live through it (clearly) but jobs were lost, houses were lost and everybody was extremely depressed. Hence the name the Great Depression; clearly nobody made light out of it. It was an extremely difficult time so I don't blame them; but if everybody there had made light of it how different would it be? If every single person without a job or much money had thought positive and tried to love their life with passion; if everybody tried to be content. Everything would have been much different. This is a very powerful quote and it's 100% true. That's what this quote means to me.

DeleteIn harry potter and the prisoner of Azkaban, Albus Dumbledore stated during the feast “happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.” This quote could mean many things to different people but in my opinion this quote means that even in sad or bad times that you are struggling, you can still be happy you just have to make the most out of the situation you are in. in life people will make you mad a angry but that does not mean you can not still be happy. Sometimes we all go through things that make us really angry or sad but you have to adjust to it and make the most of what you have and just be happy with it. Being mad with someone or something will not change it or make anything better. Being happy can make any situation better. For example if a member of your family dies, you will be sad for sometime but eventually you have to be happy again because people dyeing is just a part of life and nature, it happens to everyone. Eventually you have to over come your anger and just be happy because being angry will not change the out come of any thing for the best if any thing it would be for the worst. In American history we have been in many wars. We have lost a lot of battles and had a lot of dark ages in our history but they did not just give up. They didn’t hold there heads down being sad or angry about it, and if they did they would have got destroyed. They stayed positive and always came out on top. Many people hang there heads when something bad happens but they should not. They should stay positive and make the most out of the situation that they are going through or are in. if you are making the most of things in the bad times and always staying positive, you will come out on top just like the people in our history did.

Many people seem to look at things differently. In my opinion I think this means that no matter how upset you are or how hard something is there is you’ll always be happy. Happiness is something people want to have but you can be so upset and end up being happy. Someone will always be there for you to make sure that happens. Nothing is ever that easy so you have to get through the worst to get to the best. That’s they it says you have to remember to turn on the light. Meaning to be happy you have to want it. You got to make is happen. This quote means a lot and so many people would understand if they saw it. I had a situation where I hated everything because I was so mad that my parents slip up. But after a while of being upset I realized that they were happy and they needed it. I spent so much time being upset and mad when there was so reason to be. Everyone was happier that way. It was better for me to see them happy then them not getting along. I look back and see how unhappy I was but then I turned on the “light” everything made sense. I was little but when I got older I started to see more and that is what is good about it. Now every time I am upset about something I think about the good things in life. Everyone deserves to be happy either they turn the light on themselves or someone does it for them. It is not worth sitting around being upset about something. You got to go out there and try and change whatever you think is right. This quote is amazing I think.

I agree with what you said about how happiness is something everyone wants to have. However, I feel that everyone deserves to be happy, and no one deserves to go through pain. I also agree with what you said about you have to go through the worst of times to get to the best. I liked when you mentioned that because everything is okay in the end and if things aren't okay then its not the end. Pain doesn't last forever! <3 i loved your blog entry this week lyss :)!

DeleteOne of the most amazing, courageous, magical, and exquisite men known by the name of Albus Dumbledore in harry potter and the prisoner of Azkaban once said “happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.” To me this quote means that no matter how bad things get there is always something good you can get out of it if you look hard enough. I also think this quote means that you need to keep an open and positive mind set, even when you're going through hard times. Last I think this quote means that there is always going to be obstacles in life but pain doesn't last forever. This quote can relate to me or obstacles I've faced in my life in numerous ways. One way this outstanding quote from my favorite book series can relate to me is when I was going through a depressing time in my life. I lost a lot of people I was close to and I was really disappointed in life in general. However, during this hard time I turned to my music, my art, softball, and the most amazing boy in the entire world. This quote relates tom because when I was lost, and confused, I met the most amazing guy ever; in this case he was my light. He taught me how to love myself again, he taught me how to be happy, he overall kept my heart beating, and taught me how to love life. Another reason this quote relates to me is when my parents were going through there divorce. This wasn't really a hard time for me, but it was for my siblings. My dad left when I was about 4 or 5 and moved to Florida to try and make more money down there. However my mom and dad grew far apart, and got divorced when I was in 6th grade. My mom and dad still love each other, and get along great. It isn't a normal divorce to be honest, but I think that's what makes it so cool. Anyway, the divorce was hard time for my siblings but when they realized how much happier our parents were apart they excepted it. Divorce is always hard on kids, but since my dad is never around it didn't really change anything. Last the quote “happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.” said by Albus Dumbledore can relate to me because no matter how bad things get I know that pain doesn't last forever. I've been through so much at such a young age; that its enough for 2 lifetimes but I still find something worth living in everyday, and I am eternally thankful. An example that can relate to this quote is one of my favorite Disney movies Ariel! This story is about a young princess who feels incomplete, and imperfect because she doesn't have legs. This young and beautiful mermaid dreams to walk on land shes hopes and wishes that her dream will come true, and eventually it does <3. Anything is possible and even though you may have to wait for the bad times to pass; its all worth it in the end. Even the prettiest things have pain, because even a white rose has a black shadow. Trying to look for good things in bad times it may seem difficult, but it is possible.

"To me this quote means that you can always find joy or something good in any situation. If somebody is having a bad day you can look at the parts that weren’t bad and actually made you smile. It relates to me because if I’m not feeling good one day, there is always a part were I did laugh or have had fun. In the movie ”The fault in our stars,” they show this. After Augustus dies Hazel is sad and cries about his death but, she stops. She starts to think about all of the good times he has gave her in a short period of time they have knew each other. This quote fits well with this movie because that is the overall thing it taught us. You can always find happiness in terrible times.

In order to be happy you need to make yourself happy. Make yourself happy in your mind, think of good things. Sometimes people try too hard to be happy, and they shouldn’t do that because in reality you aren’t and you’re making yourself look fake. Deep inside everyone has happiness in them even if you can’t see it at the moment. Someone will be there for you to make sure that you’re happy. Even if the darkest part in your mind is unhappy it will make its way to happiness, if you try, if you “remember to turn on the light”. This quote relates to me in many ways. I’m also sure that some of you can relate to what I’m about to say. When my nana passed away two years ago I was so upset. I was upset because I use to spend a lot of time with her when I was little and now I can’t. We went to the funeral and I said to myself “this is the last time that I will ever get to see her” and that broke my heart. Yeah, everyone greaves but I grieved so much that I didn’t realize that she was happier. She wasn’t laying in a hospital bed, trying to talk, and she couldn’t talk because she a stroke so it made it even harder. I thought to myself, she’s better now and we all have to move on. I’m happier that she isn’t suffering, because then it would make her unhappy and I wouldn’t want to see that. So I remembered that people die. It’s how life goes, its apart of nature and I had to “turn the light on” and be happy. It’s better to be happy than angry because if your angry all the time you will have a hard time getting through life, and that’s what this whole quote means.

Dumbledore means that you can enjoy yourself whenever you want, if you’re willing to make the situation better. It relates to plenty of situations and shows that when you put effort into anything, you’ll see a difference in your life. One situation I can relate to this quote is that when I was younger I had skin cancer, and i had to undergo many many many tests growing up, and I never had a frown on my face. I was turning on my own light to shine through the darkness. I was young and didn’t really know what was going on, but im glad I never let it get the best of me. An example from a movie is when Spider Man continues to save the world even after his true love had died because of him. He looked past his sorrow and sadness and found that making people happy and feel safe is what made him happy. Another example is when my grandmother passed away, I continued to smile, even if i felt sad inside, and it surely made a difference. My life was happier and more bright. Staying positive is the most important thing when upsetting things happen. Dumbledore is wise for expressing that quote, because even when things are dark, your smile can brighten it up and make you happier. Times when things aren’t going as planned, you just have to remember what your thankful for and ‘turn on the lights’ and brighten up your day. Things may seem hard but things get easier in the long run.

To me, this quote means that even during the most sad and depressing moments, you can still find a way to make things better. You may believe that things will never get better, and that things will always stay the same. That all depends on what you do and how you interpret it. When the quote says "if one only remembers to turn on the light", this means that one must remember to try their hardest to make things better. You should always thing positively of things, and look for the "bright side". This does relate to me and my personal life. For example, my family went through a hard time when my parents got divorced. We lost a lot of money and I was sad knowing that I wouldn't see my father much anymore. But my mother always told me to keep my head up and stay happy, because things WILL get better. It's just up to you to make things better. In the movie, "Heaven is for Real", the little boy gets very sick and sent to the hospital. He gets a surgery that is life-risking. His family and friends were in the hospital crying, but the father remembered that he may be okay and that it won't be the end. Then, after the surgery ended, he survived perfectly fine!! This is an example because the father kept his head up, he was the one to "turn on the light." Overall, the quote"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." Means to always keep your head up. No matter now sad or hard things get, they WILL get better, and I know most people don't like hearing that, but it's true. You just need to think of the better things. Like what my family did during our tragedy or when the family in "Heaven is for Real" did. We all remembered that there is hope.

This quote is from the famous movie Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. The person that said this quote is a man that goes by the name of Albus Dumbledore. To me, this quote could mean many things. I mainly think that this quote means that even when you think that life could not get any worse, there will always be something there that you can look forward too, or that you can always have by your side to talk to. For example, your true friends and will always be there ed thm most. Also, I think the part that says “if one only remembers to turn on the light” means that people can only help you if you let them. If you do not let someone help you, your problem might never be solved or you might never get better. Also, this quote could mean that even when you are going through a really rough time, there is always a bright side to everything.
This quote can be related to the book (and movie) Romeo And Juliet by William Shakespeare. This is related because Juliet hid her love for juliet from the people who should have known first. Her love for Romeo was love at first sight. Thy should not have fallen in love because they were from two different families that were feuding. Even Though if their families were to find out that they got married they would be able to know that they would no longer have to hide their love for eachother. If Juliet told her father that she was married to Romeo, she would not have had to fight with her dad, who wanted her to marry Paris. Instead of just telling her family about Romeo, she had to drink a sleeping potion before she went to marry Paris so they would all think she was dead, and then she would run away with Romeo. Romeo found her and thought she was dead and killed himself and then she woke up and killed herself to be with Romeo. If Juliet only let people help her or just told them about Romeo, neither her or Romeo would have died.

This quote was said by a character in one of the harry potter movies named Albus Dumbledore. What I think this quotes mean to me is even if you're going through hard times, yoi can still find happiness and have a good time. Just because you're going through bad times doesn't mean you won't be able to find happiness. Many people go through hard times but they aren't always upset. They find a way to be happy. I can related to this quote by I remember three summers ago, my moms friend died. They were really close and we were all upset. He died at such a young age. Soon we just had to move on and realize he is in a better place. I can relate this quote to a movie by when I watched " My sisters keeper". It was about a girl who had cancer and her sister had to donate body parts so she could live. They were always so worried about her. During the movie the girl who had cancer was crying because she thought she looked ugly that she didn't have any hair. So her mom went to the bathroom and shaved all her hair off. Afterwards she started feeling better. In that movie they always found a way to find happiness. Even though she had cancer they always looked on the bright side. This is what I think this quote means to me. "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." This quote can be related to anyone in many different ways.

This quote relates to me when I first came to United States, it was hard for me to fit in new country, go to school, and specially speak the language that everyone can understand me ,In school it was hard to communicate to teachers and students ,but I made every time special and just felt that how lucky I’m that I can study abroad in very young age and cherish every moment even it was tough. It was so different for me that every single things are different than what I used to have, like teachers classroom, big schools, students ,food and everything. One day I felt like I don’t want to go but that day was the best day because I finally tried something that I never fat before I got my first report card which was awesome and has good grades all the teachers were so proud and that’s how I thought that maybe everything’s happens for reasons that slowly I graduate from middle school by achieving rewards in school, then high school came around it was good that I wasn’t that nervous as I was when I first came here everything was pretty good and I made so may friends, but sadly we moved to different state and again everything was different again but I was happy that I was in big school and everything is going good, now I can start another fresh start in my new school! So In short every time if something bad happen there is this something good that you can find in that problem or there will be someone that will make you smile.

DeleteDuring the feast in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" The wonderful Albus Dumbledore says "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." This is such a beautiful quote in my opinion. I think that this quote means that dark times don't last forever and all you need to did to change those dark times is to change your attitude around it. Bad attitudes are the things that feed the dark times. Don't give it power and it will go away. You can also get rid of dark times by making someone else's day a little brighter. Turn on their light and it will reflect on you. The slightest kindness thing can make someone's day better. Give someone a smile or a hug just to reassure them that everything will be okay and it will put both of you back into a positive attitude.
ReplyDeleteOne time in life that "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light" can relate to my life was when I was younger. I didn't have that many friends and I was getting picked on a lot. I then moved away from that school in the middle of fourth grade and I am glad I did. I now have amazing friends who support me and like me for who I am and I now believe in myself more. It was a bit of a dark we time in my life but I've learned to move on and be more positive. The pain didn't last forever and I was able turn on my light. If you're going through a dark time in your life right now just remember that you can turn on your light too. You deserve this life as much as everyone else, you deserve all the happiness and love this world has to offer. You are not alone in this, many go through the same things as you but you just need to remember that it will not last forever! I promise you that.

".in my opinion I think that this quote means that the darkest of times may actually be good for you. I think this because when there is a person who is having a bad time some thing good may come out of it like meeting a person or learming a new lesson. That is why you should never get down on your self because there can be light any where but as enstien said you have to make lemonade out of lemons. In my life this relates to me because there are a lot of bad things that happen to me but I try not to get down on my self because if you give up the people around you and the people that look up to you will give up. Finally this relates to my life because when I was about 8 I tore my meniscus. This was a very troubling time for me but I stuck through it and had a want to play again and I used that to be a better player than I ever was and that just goes to show that any one can do any thing if they put their mind to it. On relation to history that this quote relates to was when the Spartans went to war. They always were out number and sometimes they lost but they always had a man that would take that and use it to his advantage. You cant let every little lss affect you. You have to be persistent and never give up, never stop fighting. Another event that tis quote relates to is the brittish and the indian war. The Indians had lived in America for ages until ‘’ whit man’’ came and messed it al up. But they tried to make the best out of it even though they didn’t come through all the way
