I believe this quote means to act on your words, and try to better the world. To me it also means to be apart of your community and better it, by helping the elderly, educating the youth. If everyone contributed to our community than no one would fail at their goals we could all come together and help one another. You could also make huge advancements in science, math, and medicine. With all these advancements our community would be even further advanced and more jobs would be made. To me this should be the motto of our modern day communities and counties. A similar patriotic quote is from JFK, " Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country." These two quotes are based on bettering the world around you.

To me this quote says get out there and help don't be the one that expects help without giving any. One example I can think of is Ghandi, this may be a bad example but he does exactly what he said, he peacefully protested against the british colonization of India. He never fought and won against them.In "The Help," Miss Skeeter helped and fought against the segregation and discrimination of blacks. She fought against slavery when that was something she was raised to belief was right and the was it was supposed to be. She thought how the slaves feel and not money she was selfless and made a difference. One last example, in "The Hunger Games" Katniss fought back against the capital and everything she was raised to believe was the way of doing things. She was brave and courageous and fought for her beliefs and how she felt even if it meant putting her self in the face of danger. Against all odds she prevailed because she never gave up and she achieved her goals because she was the change she wanted to see in the world.

    1. I totally agree with what you are saying our communities need to further themselves, s advancements can be made. I also agree with your examples because those characters in the book saw a change was need even though they were raised to believe something that they didn't think was right.

  2. Ghandi “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” To me this quote means don’t just sit around and do nothing if you want something to change because no one’s going to do it for you. When we want to change something a lot of times we think how can one person change the world. Then we do what we normally do like every other day and forget about the thing we know needs to be changed. But we need to realize that sometimes one person can change a lot. It’s not always a good thing but sometimes it is. We all have different beliefs but that should never stop you from making a change. For example, Martin Luther King JR. was one of many people who believe that blacks should have the same rights. He didn’t care that some people went against colored people having the same rights because in his heart he knew that something had to be done in order for there to be justice. He was one man who made a huge change in our lives because he didn’t sit around and do nothing he saw a change was needed and he went out and made that change happen. Everyone see things that they don’t like so why not do something about it like Ghandi says because to me this is really good advice. We can’t just ignore what we don’t like in this world cause it will never go away unless we do something. It doesn’t even have to be something global. In school if you see someone in school getting bullied say something, maybe to a teacher or maybe even stick up for the kid. Change starts small but it can go a long way and maybe it won’t just make you feel etter but others too. When Ghandi say this he doesn’t mean go out and change the world make it peaceful for everyone, he means if something is bothering you change it and that’s exactly what I’m going to start doing.

    1. I agree with your statement. like how you put colored people. The man that set out to get their rights was a strong man. that is a really good example. I like your point of view on this topic. I agree with you topic and really like your definition of what it means.

  3. A famous man by the name of Ghandi once said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." This quote means to me, that you have to be the change the world that you want to see. By that I mean that if you want to see a change in the world you have got to be that person to do it. Lets say if you wanted to see a change against world hunger. you keep seeing the commercials that make you feel horrible about yourself when you think to how much food you waste everyday. Then you see actors come up and say for a dollar a day you can change this. We all know that most o the money goes to the organization that put that tv commercial out there. But you still want to make a change. So you go out and make an organization that actually goes and visits those people. You personally make them home cooked meals and donate money to them. That is making a change.
This quote means to me what I explained before. But I did have this quote relate to my life. This is when I saw people on the street with kids that are homeless. I went out and took a pledge to save one family from the streets. There I went with some of my friends got the right family that I found. And with parents help we set them up with a hotel room for 2 weeks and got them new clothes, got the parents interviews at jobs, with later they got, and set the kids up with toys. Before we left we gave them a hole fridge full of food and gave them 1000 dollars. Never knew how the family ended up but at least I set out to make a change. I saw that I could do something that was extremely nice for a family. I saw that change in the world and I made it.

  4. A wise man named Gandhi once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” This could mean many different things to many different people. What I think Gandhi is trying to tell us is to just treat others, the environment, and all of those things the way you would treat yourself, no matter the condition. If someone is being nice to you, you are nice to them back. if someone is being a jerk to you, just politely ask them to stop and try to make friends with the person. For example, if someone walks up to you when you are just sitting there on the streets and offers to buy you a meal, you’re not going to go to tell him off and fight him for it (at least I hope not). No, you’re (hopefully) going to accept the offer and politely thank him/her for what they did. Then, in the future, repay them for what they did to you. Another example, if someone walks up to you and starts to harass you, you are going to politely find a way to make him/her stop and then you are going to try and befriend the person by offering them something. They will hopefully accept and that will be the end of it. Hopefully everyone else can relate to what Gandhi was trying to say to us all.
This quote reminds me of a movie that I watched which the title slips my mind. It was about this person who went around to people and did not say no to anyone. From him doing that, he was being friend to society and treating them the way he would treat himself. He saved someone from jumping off of a building by not saying no to helping him. He sang a song that made him think about how life great is and did not jump. That person was a hero. Gandhi was the reason that movie was created.

  5. "Be the change you wish to see in the world." - Ghandi. This could mean many different things to many different people. This means that you have to be the change the world that you want to see in the world by starting with you. you have to start the change and become the inspiration that moves people to change with you for better of us all. Also you can not ask for people to do something as in change if you will not do it yourself and that would make people made because your telling them to change but you don't yourself and they will most likely not change now do to that. As if i told someone to not do something but then i went and did it myself wouldn't be fair so i think this quote means that you want change, it starts with you and your decision if you have the effort to make that change or not.

    1. I agree with your statement 100 percent. I agree with what you said about changes. You do have to start the change and become the inspiration. That was a really good response.

  6. “ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Ghandi. what this means to me is live the type of life you'd be living in if you lived in a world of your choice. its like how people would like to save the environment. people would like to be environmentalists so they can better the lives of people on earth to help humans thrive longer. for example people raise their children to be successful and go to college and to follow there dreams. parents do that so their dreams. parents do that to so their children's lives could change for the better and people encourage more people to do that for the better. if you want to change then start with yourself first. begin with the foundation, which is you. if you cannot do it then how can you expect other people to change also. if you want the world to be more free, then live a freer life. if you think there's something wrong with the world, its your job to fix it. its not someone else's responsibility. if you think the world could be made better, go do it. you simply cant sit back and wait for others to accomplish the changes you want to see. if you want change in the world and make progress in a specific direction then it is up to you to make those changes. you should also believe that you have a unique purpose and potential in the world. its not so much something to create as to be discovered. and its up to you to discover it. believe that you can and will make a difference. recognize that everything you do or don't do or everything you say or don't say could make a difference. don't get caught up in how of things. if you're clear on what you want to change and why you want to change it, the how will come. many significant things have been left undone because someone let the problem solving interfere with the decision making. this quote short and sweet pretty much means change yourself before you try changing others.

    1. I agree with how you said people need to stop complaining and step up and actually do something. I also liked how you said you saved up you're money from a whole year and bought fish and let them free in the waters. Little things like that could make a lot of things better.

  8. A great man that goes by the name of Ghandi once said a popular quote in today’s modern life that stated ,“ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” This quote has many meanings. What I think he was trying to get across by saying these famous words are that if you want a change you cannot just sit and wait and wait and wait, the change will never happen. What he is saying is that if you want to see a change in something you have to go out and change it your self and not just wait for people to do it for you because that will never happen. This relates to our society because so many kids and adults want everything handed to them and that’s not how it works. If you want something to happen or change you have to go do it yourself and most people in today’s society do not do that. They are lazy and will never do anything for a change. This quote means may things to me. The main thing it means is that ghandi wanted to see people encouraged to go out and make the changes they want to happen in the world happen. A place I can relate this quote to is Stuart Scott. He recently died a couple of days agofrom cancer after fighting it for several years. He changed the perspective of peoples lives all over the world from his speech at the espy’s. stuart scott wanted to make a change in this world for people who have cancer. He wanted them people with cancer to understand that you can beat cancer even if it kills you, and you can do that by the way you live. He wanted people with cancer to not sit around and say they are going to die and waste there life. he wants them to go out and live there life like they don’t have cancer like he did.

  9. “ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Ghandi. This legendary quote has many many meanings. It has been used in an infinite amount of speeches. Including marthin luther kings speech. I personally think it means that If you truly believe something needs to be changed you have to be the one to start that change. You can not complain about humans throwing garbage everywhere then go throw a plastic cup on the floor. That is called being a hypocrite. This shows Ghandi had been spot on in what he had been saying and teaching. It relates to our society today in many ways. Such as are presidential and local elections. If a president has said he will doing something he better do it because that is mostly why we vote for someone. There promises of bringing the soldiers home, or having food sent to the children of Africa they cant say these things and not do them.
This quote personally applys to me because in a book I read there was a man who had been fed up with all the people who where getting rich on other peoples downfall. He took the matte r in his own hand and took back the money the rich had taken from the poor and defeated the problem. He tackled it head on. The rich people who had done wrong by the poor had been justified and the poor people where givenwhat they had deserved. This shows that what ghandi was saying about havingto be the change you want to see. He wanted to see that these people had been given back there hard earned money. So he tackled the problem and won. That is what ghandi had been trying to illustrate with his wise words. These words could have been interpreted in many ways but this is how I thought of them. Ghandi had definatly proven with these words to be one of the wisest men of his time and these the wisest words of his time.

  10. “ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Ghandi. this quote means that you should change things in the world that you would wish to see. this is for the people out there making the wrong situations a good thing in the world. but the only person who can make that change happen is our president but we can start it to make it happen or least try to. this is like back when slavery had emerged back in the days innocent children ripped from the people that love them that's heart-breaking i don't think i could watch that happen. but guess who got it banned in the u.s. Mr. Martin Luther King. and although he had to overcome some obstacles and also got arrested he still made a change. he brought us altogether as one no matter what your color was everyone was an individual. No matter what you can make a change to the world too.
