DeleteAlbus Dumbledore says during the feast "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”. To me this quote means that when you are in a bad situation if you look you can still find happiness. Also if you don’t make the effort to “turn on the light” then happiness won’t come because you have to find happiness in bad situation because if you are a little happy the situation will be so much better. People usually give up when something goes wrong so, they are just sitting in the dark waiting for the sun to come out. What I mean by that is they are just going to wait until the bad situation they are in disappears and the whole time during not find any happiness. And you’ll also always have people there for you. Like people always think when something goes wrong they will be alone with no one to talk to but that’s not the case they still have friends and family to turn too when they aren’t at the greatest point in their life. They need to remember that life is like a roller-coaster, it has ups and downs but through it all there’s someone sitting next to you in that cart.
ReplyDeleteSee about two years ago my grandma died from cancer. I can’t say it was all bad for her though because she “turned the light on”. She saw how important life was when she found out she had cancer. She hated it when people would do stuff for her. For example she actually wanted to get up and make her bed and go make herself food. She knew that her cancer was just getting worst worst but she whenever I saw her she’d be smiling. And I know it wasn’t just a brave face in front of us because the doctor always have so much optimism. She made all of us realize how happiness is the key to a good life and that no matter what is going on to be happy. I love my grandma and even though she died, she left the biggest impact on my life and always will.
I agree with your example. Your Grandma was a very nice person. I remember talking to you after that and you were sad. But then I told you to look at the better things in life. You did and moved on. Your example really says the quote good. I like that you are remembering your grandmas courage to do what she wanted and needed to do with her life.

I think that this means no matter how terrible life might seem there is always a way happier life on the other side. You just have to find it. I get how sometimes people think there is absolutely nothing that will get me out of this funk. But if you are willing to try then you have a chance on succeeding. What I like to do is think of the positive side of life. Like at least I'm here and alive and breathing. I also look at the little things in life because in reality they are way bigger than you may think. I have food on my plate: not a lot but a lot more than many people. I have a roof over my head: not a big one but it's still a roof protecting me from outside. I also have friends and family that love me and thats the most important thing to me. If I were to ever become seriously depressed I would definitely think about those who would miss me or the things I'm missing out on while moping around everywhere. So if you could just find that happy place and stay there life will be way more awesome then imaginable!
ReplyDeleteThis quote relates to me because I was really upset when my cousin Colin passed away. He was like my brother and I's first best friend when we were way younger and we all grew up together. We all went through everything together. His fathers death when he was 14 and my brother Ryan's diabetes when the same year (he was 8). Every time I was on crutches (13 times). Then when Colin found out he got cancer the following Christmas (15). Then when he went through radiation and Chemotherapy. And when we THOUGHT he was cured. And it was just me and Ryan left as the youngest when Colin died (17). It was not a shock because we were all prepared for it to happen, but it still felt like a bullet to the chest. Sometimes I just felt like I wanted to cry out of nowhere. But I got out of it. He's with his dad. I'm okay now!

I think that this quote has a really good meaning behind it. This quote means to me, plenty of things. This quote means to me that if you are in a bad situation, and your are really feeling gloomy and said. Feeling really depressed is what I mean. But there was at least one good time in your life. So basically you just have to remember back to that time. You are the person turning on the light in the quote. This quote relates to me in my life back when I was sick in the hospital. I had pneumonia and I couldn't play hockey anymore. I was really sad and all I was doing was concentrating on getting back to hockey. But then the doctor told me I couldn't play for another month. Other wise I would relapse and be back in the same position as I was. That made me really sad and down because all I wanted to do was just play hockey. So then I went home and just sat on my bed playing NHL. But I remembered a time back to when I scored the game winning goal on a penalty shot at the Hershey Bear arena in Pennsylvania. I remembered how happy I was to win it for the team. At that moment I knew that I had to focus on getting better so I could play hockey again. I looked up for the moment that I would get back on the ice and score the goal again. The next game I came back I scored and I felt like I was right back in that arena loving life and being so happy.
ReplyDeleteThis quote can relate to a movie too. The movie I am thinking about is "I Am Legend." When Will Smith has only his dog and he is living in zombie ridden area, he looks back to his family. When he left them for safety and he couldn't go. Then his dog dies and he gets really depressed. He finds ad woman and a son and takes them in. He fights all of the zombies when he is out past dark, because that is when they come out. He ends up finding a cure and gives it to the women and son, the hide in a bomb shelter and Will blows himself along with the zombies up. I think this is good because it taught him to take care of a family, that wasn't him and to get courageous enough to do what he did.
i totally agree with this statement. And that movie is very inspiring. When he blows himself up to save a mother of 1 kid. I looked back to and Family is one of the most important things to take care of.

The darkness is the slump that your in and you have to turn that light on to be happy again and be bright again. this is a great quote for me i believe because somethings have gotten in my way and i stayed strong and "turned the light on" and made it through things to make it where i am now happy and succesful. Also i think i would relate this to a movie called cinderella man. its about a boxer that has been in poverty for a long time and cant pay her bills and loses his house and he cant pay to feed his kids so he becomes a profesional boxer (true story btw) and starts to train and be the best and ends up beating everyone and wins it all and wins the money that he needs to get for his family and the movie ends happily ever after with him getting out of the slump he was in by working hard and did what he had to do.

However, I disagree with u when u say no one should be sad because I think it is health to be sad ,not all the time of course, because that one of the emotions we feel. And ii kinda disagree with you when say there is always family to turn to. I say this because sometime your family can a banded you. But never the less great quote and nice job.

This quote can mean many different things to many different people. What I think this quote means is happiness is in everyone, as long as everyone treats everyone the same and with respect. Basically, treat that person the way you would treat yourself. Happiness is just the cure in the room. The light switch is the people around you. Hang out with the right people and you are sure to find happiness beyond that empty room of darkness.
ReplyDeleteThis has happened to me in my life a couple of times. I would find the wrong people to hang out with. They would always make fun of me for what I do or what I looked like. They would always use me for things like problems on math homework. It took me a while to realize what was going on. I eventually figured it out and found another group of people. They were different from the last people I hung out with. They were way smarter than I was. They would always tease me for not being as smart as them or not knowing an answer to a problem that was really easy to them but really hard for me. That was when I realized again that I had chosen the wrong group of friends. It was my next group of friends that I found that I knew they were the ones. They were average like I was. They weren’t as bright as me and they didn’t tease me for what I did or what I looked like. I had found my group; my friends; my family. The people that would always be there no matter what. The light switch to my room of darkness. That is what I think Dumbledore meant when he said, "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."

This is a very admirable quote to most things that happen throughout life. To me this means its not the end there will always be a way to sort out your problems even in the worst of times. You just have to try and make things better for yourself. See I have had a lot of problems. But I had to try and make them better and the answer came out clear.
ReplyDeleteIn school I was never the best person . I would always give up when I could be or do something better. I just chose the wrong path and took that way and it got me no where good just took me to a horrible ending.but then as time went on I got better and did what I was supposed to do and succeeded. That is what I think Dumbledore meant by "happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light".

What he meant by this quote was that no matter how bad things could be, you can find happiness everyone can. You just need to look on the bright side of things because the more you think negative the more you will be depressed and think about the bad things. In the past, I have taken a couple of homework assignments that I might not understand half of the time and I would end up having a bad grade for not understanding the work in class. As sad as this maybe, you still have the opportunity to know what the work is and understand it better by staying after school and ask the teachers to help you with the work so it is less of a struggle. I remember one time I failed a quiz in my math class and I supposed that there was no way it could be fixed to make the grade better. I knew that my parents were not going to be happy and I knew that I to do something to make my grade better. So I went up to the teacher to ask if I can retake the test so I can get a better grade then I previously did. Luckily, she said that I can retake it but I need to stay after school so the test can be taken so I can get a better grade. After retaking the test I went from a 69 to an 88 which was a big jump that helped my grade in the class tremendously. Good things can happen but you just need to keep your head held high and stay in a positive mood so you can feel happy. Even if things for you aren't going the best, you can make them better if you try to stay positive and always think on the bright side.

I remember when i got in a fight at school because this girl provoked me she hit me first so I had to defend myself. she sure got what she deserved a black eye & ten days of suspension i only got five days of suspension & 2 days indoor suspension. the moral of the story is we both got in trouble but i got my work made up for the days i was out i was passing my classes i got good grades on my report card and i got rewarded for that a new phone and new shoes i was happy.never let negativity get the best of you stay positive and have faith good things come to good people.

I think this quote means that even when your in a deep situation with friends or family. Especially divorce. I don't have much experience with divorce but the kids i do know that parents are divorced. and they say that it can be brudle sometimes because there not all ways together as a family. Like thanksgiving, Christmas, Mothers and Fathers day. My friend jarred said its not what he expected since his dad lives in Florida, and his mom lives in Bayville. My parents used to get into lots of fights because of my dads drinking problem. It made are family miserable. He was gone for three months in the hospital. He missed Thanksgiving and Christmas. I was for and i asked for hockey tickets so i can take my dad to one. But he came home drunk the day of the game and i had stayed home crying because i couldn't be with my dad.
ReplyDeleteI watch a show that's like this the dads a old drunk that didn't care about his family.Until he got help from AA and the love and care of his family. Just like my dad we brought him home from the second time he was in the hospital. And my mom sister and I took care of him and in a couple of months my dad was of the market for alcoholism. He never had a problem with drinking again. So when Dumbledore says "Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." I think it means that When found in a deep situation go to your friends and family and they will help you. So trust the ones you love.
