“ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Ghandi.
-What do you think this quote means? How can it be related
to our society and everyday things people do?
- What does this quote mean to you? Give an example from
your life, Film or Literature where you have seen this idea apply. Explain
using specific examples.
Mahatma Gandhi once said "Be the change you wish to see in the world." I think this quote means you will have to attempt what you want to see in the world. It wont just happen out of nowhere. You also might be the first one but if you try real hard, people might catch on to what your doing. This can be related to things that are going on in our society. Like all the protester's about a man who got choke out by cops. Many people didn't want that to happen but that's why they started protesting. And like in Paris the massacre, Many French people are protesting.
ReplyDeletethis quote means to me that anything is possible if you try hard and know what your talking about. I can related this to the news about how serious the two events were and how they changed the world. Many people like the mayor of New York is trying to fix this. That is what I think of the quote.
I agree with kenneth. I do think that nothing happens by everyone sitting around thinking about something but not doing anything. I believe you have to get off your lazy but and do something about what you want changed. That is why i agree with kenneth about the quote by ghandi
DeleteI agree with you Kenny. I agree with you because what you want out of this world isn't going to come out of nowhere. I also agree when you said "this quote means to me that anything is possible if you try hard.", because when Gandhi said this quote it can relate to anything if try.
Deletei agree with you kenny. i think everything you say sounds right and i understand were you are coming from
DeleteGhandi once said " Be the change you wish to see in the world". What this quote means to me is that if you want a change in the world than you should try to b the change that you are looking for. If you try to be a change in the world it may actually change the world. For example if you want people to stop judging people as much as they do, which will never happen you can be a nice person and not be like everybody else who is being rude to one another. Soon people will pick up on what you're doing and soon the world would change and people would start to be more nice to people then how they treat them now. If you say you want a change but you dont do anything about it you're not going to change anything. You are just stating something that you want to happen but never will. IT can relate to your society because our society is always saying how they want to change the world physically but nobody ever does anything. Everybody wants to stop pollution or something on the lines of that but yet everybody is still polluting everything and soon if we dont change that the world is going to get worse and there is not going to be enough resources on the world for everybody to live. Then people are going to complain about that and there will be no life left on the earth because nobody wanted to make one single change that could change everything. An example from my life would be that i want people to stop judging like i said in the first or second sentence of this blog. What i have done is just being nice to people. If you're nice to somebody who is always getting picked on and you're not picking on them they will soon start to be nice too. They could of been mean and judged people just like everybody else does but sense you have been nice to them they change and they act different. Not everybody will see the change and not everybody will change. It the matter if life and its just how our world is. This generation is worsening everyday and if we make no changes there will be no future ahead of us because everybody is just doing what they want instead of looking out for the world and stuff that can happen. This is what i think this quote means and how is means to me.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Megan. I know a lot of people who are complaining that people keep judging them when they aren't being nice to them, and also with the pollution thing. If we keep pollution and no one cares, soon when we get older we wont have any resources left.
DeleteI just finish reading your comment for the blog and I do go along with what your trying to say. I think your right with your meaning to the quote. And thats because I like how you said ''if you want a change in the world than you should try to be the change that you are looking for. If you try to be a change in the world it may actually change the world.''Therefore this is why I want along with your comment for the blog.
DeleteGhandi once said “be the change you wish to see in the world” What I think this quote means is that if you do something small in life that helps someone, you could help the world. For example, if someone donates money to a charity, you might really help someone in the world even though what you did was something little. An example of this in a film would be in the movie “Pay it Forward”. In this movie, a boy named Trevor gets a social studies assignment from his teacher which was: think of something to change the world and put it into action. What he said was that if he helped someone, then that person could help someone else and so on. I think this goes with the quote because if you do something simple to someone else, and they do the same, you could make a change. This quote also doesn’t need to be about helping people, it could be about global warming and maybe also habitats for animals. Another example of this quote would be bulling. People everywhere are being bullied and if we tried to stop it, we would make a big impact on the world. This quote goes along in my life too. Around November, the church I go to was having this thanksgiving thing where you would set up food for people who don’t have a lot of money. When I did that, I felt like I helped the world a bit because I gave my time to try and help people. Also, when I was younger, I would always go crazy when I saw garbage on the street or anywhere besides the trash cans and I would always pick it up because I thought if I did that, others would follow and clean up too and we would help the world. If we don’t start doing things now, when we get older their might be a time where we look back and wish we tried to change the world. This is what I think Ghandi meant with this quote.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alexis. If you do doe thing small it could change something in the world. Also about doing something simple to somebody else. Yes if you do that it could change something for you and people will start doing nice things for people.
DeleteGhandi once said "Be the change you wish to see in the world". What this quote means to me is that if you wanna stop pollution,or if one day you wish that people who doesn't have jobs that they'll find one. Be the change. So go to school and study and think of ideas that require to stop pollution. Or when you get older open a new business so people who don't have jobs can have one. But you have to think cause not all changes that you wish on the world will come true. You can wish for world peace or to end all hunger because they're always going to be those types of people who doesn't care and they will keep fighting and not be peaceful. Because those are the types of people who doesn't care what you want. You won't be able to end world hunger because someone in the world will always be hungry. Also there are people who don't have enough money to feed they're families so sometimes they'll be hungry. This quote can relate to our society because they are some poor people out there. And its sad to think because they won't be able to feed themselves or they're own family. This also relates to society because if you wanted to peace for the world, there wouldn't be war. No one will be fighting over something so small and pointless. This quote can relate to a book call the "Giver". In this book they live off a utopia, which means to them its a perfect world. They wanted to change the world so instead of changing the whole world they changed the peoples world who lives in their community. They became the change that they thought was right, that they thought the world will be better off as. "Be the change you wish to see in the world" this quote is a really powerful quote, because of two things the change that you wish to be could be good for you but really bad for the people around you, or it could be bad for you, but with a positive outcome for society. To be completely honest it comes down to what ever you feel. That's what I think the quote "Be the change you wish in the world" by Ghandi.
ReplyDelete“ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Ghandi.
ReplyDeletewhat this quote means to me is that you can't wait around for it to happen on its own. if you want something done you have to do it your self stop complaining and start doing if u want to see your neighbors kid lose weight help him just dont be like bro your fat.my mom once told me that she wanted the constuction workers to stop working at night so she could sleep and yu what she did nothing about it because she was scared you cant be afrid of what if or what will happen if i get in trouble only you can say what you think only you can make a change because others wont for once take some resbosobilty for your self and do something. for example right now most kids are failing but yet they're just sitting in class doing nothing and just using their phones and not paying attention because there to cool for school. Those are the ones who are going to be working at McDonald and stressing out about college while everyone else already took care of you can't wait around any more.
I like the fact that you said if you want something to change you can't wait around. I agree with you because not everyone will have the guts to do everything that they want changed and with the courage of people who really want to change something, they will start instead of waiting around for other people.

ReplyDeleteGhandi once said “ Be the change you wish to see in the world”. To me personally i think this quote means that if you want to see change in the world you can change it. Anyone can change the world and make it a better place, no one needs anyone else to change the world when anyone can do it themselves. For example, now a days, in todays society people wish to change things about their work or their community. People can change those things themselves. Just say you to change the way the parks in your town are treated. Stand up yourself and get garbage cans in the park. Also another example is in schools lets just say theres a room or bathroom you think could be fixed and can be cleaned to be sanitary. Go to the main office and talk about it getting fixed just by bring problems to people older than you can start a change.
This quote means alot to me. It reminds me that i can do anything. That i can help or fix any problems in the world. I remember a couple years back i would always be riding on the bus on the way home from school and see this old park in the woods. I always wanted to clean that park up and fix it up. The park was dirty and filled with vandalism I even brought the idea up to my mom and she told me i could do it, that i could get it fixed up and help the community. But before i can say anything to the town about it, one day i was riding home and the park as gone. I was so upset, Even though i never fixed the park, i was still determined to fix it. This event in my life goes with this quote and thought about being the change i want. In conclusion, the quote “ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” written by Ghandi is an inspiral quote that can relate to my life.
I agree with your blog. I agree with you because I do think anybody can do anything. Also because you should not complain about something unless you are going to do something about it. Don't try to make people change your world because you are lazy. change your own world.
Delete"Be the change you wish to see in the world" is a quote written by Ghandi. I think this quote means that if you wanna see a change in the world then you have to be a part of it. If you want the world to change, you need to help out and do as much as you can. The world won't change if you don't help. This quote can be related to our society and things everyday people do. It can be related by if doctors decided not to come to their work, at a doctors office or even at the hospital then people like us wouldn't have anywhere to go, if we need medical attention. If one person plants a tree that can make a huge difference in the world. If someone planted a tree everyday it would make a huge difference in our world. People need to help out if they want to see a change in the world. This quote means a few things to me. One thing it means to me is if I wanted to have a change in the world then I would help out, yes I want to change the world so then I would help. People think the world will just change without anyone helping, people need to help. For example people make an effort with changing the world by planting trees and other plants to help out earth. Changing doesn't have to be about society it can be about changing the earth or people or even business's! I think everyone should be involved if they want to see a change in the world.
ReplyDelete"Be the change you wish to see in the world" a quote by Ghandi. What do i think that this quote means to me? Well i think that it means many things. But i think that it mainly means that if you want something changed in this world you need to do it yourself. You cant expect everything to change by itself. You have to change things you want on your own. For example you want the way people cut down trees and dont put more in. Well you need to get off your but and do something to make that change. You need to get a potiton signed and ask people to do it get the world changed. How can i apply this to my personal life? Well i have eanted many things changed. There was one time when i went and got people in my class to sign a paper saying that we wanted longer recess on fridays and it happened. I wanted something changed in this world and i got up and did it. That is what i think the quote" be the change you wish to see in this world" by Ghandi.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Brendan is saying. If you want something to change you have to go do it yourself. You can't do anything by sitting on your butt. If you want to change something maybe you can find other people that want the same thing and go change it together.
DeleteI agree with your blog. I agree with you because I do think anybody can do anything. Also because you should not complain about something unless you are going to do something about it. Don't try to make people change your world because you are lazy. change your own world.
DeleteI agree with your blog. You cant just cant sit there waiting for the change. You need to do it yourself. No one wants to change what you want, you can expect change if you do it yourself.
Delete“Be the change you wish to see in this world.”- Ghandi. This quote means you are the person to make a change in the world. This quote can be applied in society and daily life today by using less fossil fuel and recycling reusable material. For example some of the trash that we throw out is reusable. What this quote means to me it that everybody in the world can make a change. Starting now in your own homes, for example instead of throwing out plastic bottle you can reuse them as water bottle. An example in my life is that I recycle the cardboard that we have in the house. This quote also means you can be the person to make a difference in the world.
ReplyDeleteAnother example is when this protest when a black person was shot and killed by the police. There was also another incident last summer, where a man in Staten Island was unjustly head locked to the ground by a group of cops for supposedly selling single cigarettes on the street. Then there was a black teenager that was shop lifting that ran away but found by cop that tried to arrest him. Next tried to run at the officer but the officer shot a couple of times but a bullet killed him. The there was an uproar of black people in that town and they stared to rage.
That led up to the protest that “Black lives Matter.” For change to happen it must start with the people. If I was the Leader of the National Police Department I would make every officer of the law have a stun gun with their real gun as well. By doing this act I would be reducing the number of deaths by accident kills by police. In the future who knows what could happen. It begins all with you to make a change in the world. Now let us take the next step towards change in this world.
I agree with your blog. I agree with you because I do think anybody can do anything. Also because you should not complain about something unless you are going to do something about it. Don't try to make people change your world because you are lazy. change your own world.
DeleteWhat Ghandi meant by when he said "Be the change you wish to see in the world" was if you ever want to see a change happen in the world you have the make the move that will change what you want. Many people have a dream or a thought that they wish that could become reality and be able to make a difference. You might be one of very few people who think of this and nobody else can think that. Wishing for something is just saying it would be nice if..but if you want to do it then you will get farther and your thought/dream might become reality.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that we might wish to accomplish is to go to college and get the job that you want to have. Remember when you were in kindergarten and you had wished you were a lawyer, a police officer, a fire fighter, a superhero, etc. When you put your mind to it as you get older and never lose faith in yourself and keep saying that you can do it, you can be anything you want to be when you put your mind to it. There are many things that you can do if can believe in yourself and never lose faith or hope.
I have had this quote affect me this year during the first marking period in high school. Ever since middle school I have been trying to get honor roll for a long time and it has been my goal to reach it even though it would take a little longer than expected. When the first marking period came I put my mind to it and tried as hard as I can to make honor roll. Through all the hard work and effort I put in to reach my goal, I finally got honor roll and I feel that all the work that was put in was worth it. If you want to see a change in the world you cant wait for someone to make your decisions, you have to make your own and put your mind closer to your goals you wish to succeed in.
“ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Ghandi. To me this means that in order for the world to be the way we want it we have to start with ourselves. We have to be the change, it starts with yourself. It is up to us to change the world, and the world can't change if we don't. We the people have the choice to make it a good world or a bad world. People now a days have no respect for themselves or anyone around us. I see people bullying other people or talking about someone behind their back. Why do we treat people the way we do? Because of the power it gives us, the world craves power. Some of us are realizing that power is all that important, what's important is all of us getting along. We make groups, associations, and clubs to help the people around become nicer in many ways. Also kids in school are starting to fail, and they blame it on everyone except for themselves. What they don't want to understand is instead of just sitting in class dozing off, they could actually be paying attention learning something. Everyone in society says how they want to stop pollution because its bad for the world, and how they want things to be different. Instead of listening to everyone around us there are still a bunch of people that pollute and are just to lazy to actually throw things away and keep everything around them clean. A couple years ago i got bullied because of my appearance and it hurt obviously, but i changed what i felt insecure about. I took my confidence and boosted it up a little more and acted like it didn't bother me. Though i have never really judged anyone really my outlook on life changed. I made sure that I didn't judge anyone unless they gave me a good enough reason to. I changed for the better this way everyone i know would never feel like i judged them or anything to hurt them. Of course people misinterpret what I say or i joke around, but it doesn't mean i meant to hurt their feelings or to make them feel bad about themselves. I want to see the world change for the better, and in order to do that i have to start with myself.
ReplyDeleteGandhi once said “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” From what I know about Gandhi is that he was a Buddhist monk. A free soul. A peaceful man. Comparable to John Lennon or Mother Theresa. I also know that Gandhi was a 15 year old kid at some point in his life. I wonder if that is one of the exact moments in his life that he thought “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” I, being fifteen now, would take “Be the change you wish to see in the world” to mean that if you feel something turn it into an action do not just let the meaning or thought or feeling pass you by. The saying sounds abstract yet it has very literal or powerful meaning. It is like when very young kids pretend to be a fire fighter. They feel it and love it, and when they get older they become the fire fighter or nurse they had pretended to be. If you are the change you want to see than you can become class president. If you are the change you want to see, you can pick up the litter you see in the parking lot before it drifts in the wind and goes and pollutes the ocean. Stop wasting food at home. Or train faster and harder and push yourself and your limits in sports, to become the athlete you always were meant to be. As I read on the CRMS building when I walk in “The future is now.” Be strong. Be brave, and never have a limit you cannot push higher. If you want it bad enough you will get it. Just as Gandhi said “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” All change has to start somewhere with someone. Be someone.
ReplyDeleteI agree with molly. I agree with her because she says that if you want something then do it or change it. She gave great examples to explain her idea of the quote also. That is why I agree with molly and what she thinks the quote means
Delete“ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Ghandi. I think this means if your a bad person you should change and maybe people will follow in the world. If you want to change you have to work hard and never give up. If people see you trying to change in this world to make it better maybe they will play their part in the world. We should all change how we act in this world. Not everybody in this world is perfect. If just one person could change them maybe everybody could start to help each other and work together to change. If you want to change something in this world you will have to do it yourself if no one else sees it. Not everything will change. You will always have to keep on trying. You can't change something if your sitting on your couch all day watching tv. You have to get out there and start to do something. You have to work your hardiest to make something change. Do your part to change the world. Sometimes if you change the world you could change other people or yourself. This relates to me because I got a paper and my friends sign it if they think we needed a new school park. We brought it to the principle and the principle gave it to the mayor and he agreed with us. We got a new school park.
ReplyDeleteA great man that goes by the name of Ghandi once said a popular quote in today’s modern life that stated ,“ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” This quote has many meanings. What I think he was trying to get across by saying these famous words are that if you want a change you cannot just sit and wait and wait and wait, the change will never happen. What he is saying is that if you want to see a change in something you have to go out and change it your self and not just wait for people to do it for you because that will never happen. This relates to our society because so many kids and adults want everything handed to them and that’s not how it works. If you want something to happen or change you have to go do it yourself and most people in today’s society do not do that. They are lazy and will never do anything for a change. This quote means may things to me. The main thing it means is that ghandi wanted to see people encouraged to go out and make the changes they want to happen in the world happen. A place I can relate this quote to is Stuart Scott. He recently died a couple of days agofrom cancer after fighting it for several years. He changed the perspective of peoples lives all over the world from his speech at the espy’s. stuart scott wanted to make a change in this world for people who have cancer. He wanted them people with cancer to understand that you can beat cancer even if it kills you, and you can do that by the way you live. He wanted people with cancer to not sit around and say they are going to die and waste there life. he wants them to go out and live there life like they don’t have cancer like he did.

“ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” - Ghandi well lets start it off like this have you ever wanted something so bad but you never actually tried too get it. that how everybody is with at least something . just being lazy . i think this quote means that if you want something different in your life , if you wanted something too change in your life or in the world. Just like Martin Lurthur king , he wanted the end of rasicim he cost his life and lots of hard things but he got threw it . now we have half blacks ( like me ) and we go too school with black people. Like i wanted my grades better so i started doing my work focusing more understanding different things. now my gardes are better and im not failing any classes. i wanted things too change so i went out stop being lazy and did that

ReplyDeleteGhandi once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” What I think Ghandi was trying to say was that if you want change, you have to be the change. If you want things to change then you have to be the one that starts the change. This is because if you want things to change then you can’t just go and just say “I want things to change” all the time. You have to be the change in order for things to change. For example, say if you’re failing at the end of a marking period and now you say” next marking period I have to start passing”. You can’t just go around saying it and you just think it will magically happen; you need to work hard so you can make that change. This quote relates to my life in a way. How this quote relates to my life is school. Usually at the end of a marking period, I pass my classes. At the end of the marking period I usually say that “ oh next marking period I will do better”. I used to just say that and I never made the change, now this year I said the same thing and I now have better grades then I’ve ever had. This is now all because I wanted a change in my grades and I was the one that made the change. You can’t just sit there and want things to change and not do anything about it. Do you think that President Obama sat there his whole life and said “I want to be the president, but I cant because I am African American” and did nothing about it. He didn’t and because of that he became the first African American president in U.S history and won the presidential election twice. If you want change, then you need to make it happen. Ghandi once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” This is what I think this quote means to me.
ReplyDeleteGandhi once said ,“ Be the change you wish to see in the world’’. Therefore what I think this quote means is that in order to see a difference in this world you have to change yourself because the way you are and the way you act is how it reflects to how you see the world as. For example many of us see the world differently and we also have many different opinions about it as well and thats because again, it has to do with ourselves and how we act too. Therefore what I’m trying to say is if there is a person who is truly really depressed, then they see the world as a dark, horrible and lonely place to be in. In did other hand if the person tries to change to be a better and happy person than the way they saw the world before they won’t see it like that anymore, instead they would see it as a bright and happy place. Furthermore this quote can be related to our society and everyday things people do by how we handle things in life. And what I mean by this is how we handle our problems in life. Therefore this example is related to Gandhis quote and related to our society and everyday things people do because we all seem to handle our problems with frustration, stress, and anger and thats how we see it when ever we have a problem or a problem will occur and in order to see a difference in this, we must not let the frustration, stress, and anger get to us, instead we should take deep breaths and relax because a problem is already enough and if we add horrible emotions onto it as well, than were making it more worser. Moving along, this quote can be related to my life by how I saw the world as by the example I gave earlier on the “person’’, the way I saw the world before was like this because of the way I acted with myself and the horrifying things I did to myself too.And because I did this stuff, it reflected on how I saw the world. And later on I realize why am I doing this to myself all am feeling is depress, so I changed and I have to admit it was the best change I ever made because I feel happy and now I see the beauty of this world, but I still believe that there is still darkness wandering around. Therefore I haven't seen this quote in a film or literature or anywhere else because it’s my first time seeing this quote. Anyway this is what I think Gandhis quote means and how it relates to everyday life and me as well.
