  1. " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." -Paul Tournier. I think this quote means that if you want to achieve something or strive for something great then you have to keep persevering to reach that goal. You can't just give up when times get rough. If you do decide to give up then you will never succeed in life, but those who don't give up they will be the ones who win. It's like the quote "believe and achieve". Whatever you believe you can do: you actually can do because anything is possible. That's what this quote means to me personally- believe and achieve. This quote also reminds me personally of one of my favorite quotes of all time "swing for the fences". Both
Of these quotes are saying never quite, try your best, and you will win. Also, If you don't succeed and win, then later in life you will lose and regret your decisions. You always have to try your best no matter what because you don't want to regret life later and you should live life to the fullest!
A time in my life when I've seen this quote being put into action was when my grandma tried to stop smoking. It was really hard for her since she had been smoking for 20+ years. At first she was having really bad cravings for the cigarettes she use to smoke. Some days she would get really sick from withdrawal of nicotine. But, she wanted to give up cigarettes for the benefit of not only herself, but our entire family. She persevered through all the sickness and temptations to live a longer life and love us endlessly. In my opinion I think she won. If she were to go back to cigarettes and keep smoking then I'm pretty sure my grandma would have regretted her decision and not live life like she wants to, but she didn't. She chose the right path to lead her back to a healthy lifestyle and I will forever be grateful.

  2. “sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can.” This quote was said by not only a good but a great man, Paul tournier. In my opinion this quote can mean many things, it depends on your very own life experiences. In my opinion this quote means that if you have a positive out look or positive attitude towards something, you will eventually succeed or win. For example if you play a sport and everyday before a game you have an attitude positive and wake up and say we are going to win this game, and it might not come that day, the next day or the day after that but it will eventually come a time that there will be succession and you will win the game eventually. Having a goo d attitude and positive outlook toward something that you want to succeed at will help that come very very true in the near future. Personally this quote means something to me. I know if I have confidence in something and get after it every single day I know I will eventually succeed and win at what I am trying to do! An example from my own life that this quote has come to play and related to me was in baseball. My team was losing a lot of close games in the beginning of the season and even though I said and believed that we were going to win it felt like the day would never come. I kept telling my self day after day after day after day that we were going to win and I kept believeing, well after the slow start during the first 4 games , the day finally came and we won. After that everyone was believing we could win and that was exactly what went down , we continued to win. I also know people that can relate to this quote. My friend was struggling in school and all he wanted to do was to get better grades. He believed that that day would come. Sure enough that day did come and now he is getting a lot better grades than he was and is happy with how he is doing in school and now knows all it takes is believeing.

    2. Colin I think you did great. I liked that you said "if you have a positive outlook on things that will help you acheive the goal" I like that because I feel it's 100 percent right. Another thing I liked was how you related the quote to yourself, I think it was a great example. Overall good job and keep up the good work!

  3. This quote is written by famous man Paul Tournier. I think this quote mean is what we think about, what we keep in our mind is what we create and what will sooner or later show up in our lives.
It doesn’t make a difference if it’s positive or negative, what we think about is what we create.
Have you ever known anyone who is always complaining? It doesn’t make a difference if you saw them 5 minutes ago or 5 years ago, they are complaining about all the things that are going wrong in their life. It’s always the same story. This person has a life of drama and life is difficult, they do not seem to move ahead.
On the other hand, think if someone you know that takes things in stride, rolls with the punches, goes with the flow? That person doesn’t know the meaning of the words ‘obstacle’ or ‘road blocks’. This person believes in themself, their abilities and ideas. This person seems to make daily progress effortlessly.
Replace your negative expectations with more postive ones.
Begin to notice how what you expect happens, good or bad. This will quickly help you realize the importance in believing in yourself!
If you believe you can do something, sooner or later you will do it. Believe in yourself, believe all is possible
Most of the really important things in this life begins with our own heads. If we begin the expecting a good day it will most likely it will be good day even when the unexpected things will happen we cannot control many things that happen to us, we can only control how it's respond. Winning works the same way,we will seldom win anything of significance in business or other competitive activity if we don't expect to work unless we believe that we can win. But simply belief is a driver. Belief causes us to take the actions and make the effort necessary to win. Belief keeps us going in the face of delays, setbacks and other adversity. Belief makes all things possible. Belief is the ultimate competitive advantage. This quote is hard to get but so easy and deeply understandable. The quote is related to every person in different positions and but it true that if you believe in something you will get it!!

  4. " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." This quote was once said by Paul Tournier. This quote may be interpreted in many different ways. In my opinion, this means if you keep trying and trying you will succeed. And once you succeed, you will believe that you will succeed in this once again. You have your mind set that you can succeed. This is a very good mind set to have. If you have a negative attitude, you will have a negative out come. This quote does relate to my personal life. For example, it relates to my school grades. I did not think that I could get straight A's, but I studied and worked for it and I got it! Once I did it, I had faith in myself and I knew I can do it again. Therefor, that is what I did. I got straight a's for 3 years straight. If I were to set my mind in a negative way, chances are I would have not gotten the grades I got. I would have gotten lower grades. This also occurs with other people in the outside world. For example, when people try to lose weight. If they push and push themselves to their full potential, they will see results in their weight loss. They must work out a few times a week, and sweat and eat right. If they slack off and don't eat correctly and don't work hard, they won't see results. Overall, the quote " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." Said by Paul Tournier means if you keep trying to succeed, you will.

    1. Hey Summer, great job on your blog this week. I completely agree with what you said, "once you succeed, you believe that you will succeed in this again." That's exactly what I thought and didn't quite know how to put it into words at first! I also agree with what you said about grades in school. Again, great job this week! :)

  5. “Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can.” In my opinion this quote can mean many things based on your life. If you want to reach a goal you have to go for it, you can’t give up when things get rough. The people who don’t give up when they are trying to achieve something are the people who end up “winning.” You have to have a positive outlook on things; you can’t be negative because if you are you’re never going to win at what you do. Personally, I don’t think anyone should give up because you’re not being true to yourself; you’re not giving yourself a chance to be good at something. You have to have confidence in yourself in order to succeed, you can’t put yourself down because one of your friends isn’t good at a sport but you are. Don’t give something up if you know you’re going to love but your friend wont. This quote relates to my life in many different ways. During field hockey season I got to play on varsity this year and I didn’t know if we were going to win one of the games. In the beginning of the season we were already winning all of our games and I got moved up to varsity, but once I got moved up, I said to myself “what if we don’t win because I’m playing.” I was very nervous the first ever game I played on varsity, but I had confidence in myself that I could win. I didn’t want to let my teammates down, so I stepped up and played tough. It turned out that we won that game and I scored 4 goals for the first day I have ever played varsity. I knew as long as I had confidence in myself and in my team, we would be great. That’s how the rest of the season went too; I kept playing and got my varsity letter. Like this quote said, those who want to win will win, and that showed. Anyway, I think this quote has a lot of meaning to it and I think we should all take advice from it and maybe give some advice to people we know for the future because it will help.

  6. "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can,” was said by Paul Tournier. To me I think this quote means to not give up because in the end you will be the one to win. It can mean hundreds of things to different people. But to me it is all about not letting someone else win what you want. In order to win you have to have that attitude. If you walk in with the attitude of losing then most likely you will. But if you walk in showing and having the attitude of not losing then you will win. It all tells on how you act to things. It doesn’t have to happen right away, it can happen whenever. That’s what I think he means by “sooner or later.” So when people say don’t give up they really mean that if you keep trying and showing them you won’t stop they will have that idea and you will win. People think it is stupid to keep trying for something but really it pays off. Maybe not right away but it will happen. Don’t set you mind to negative things because then the negative things will just happen. You need to have an open mind and not give up right away. For example, my best friend had a track meet coming up and she had the worse attitude about it saying she was going to lose and do bad. That whole week she kept saying it and I was just waiting to see if it was going to be true and it was. She had the attitude of losing and it happened. I told her you can’t think about all the negative things because they will get to you and you will lose. She thought about for a while and when it came to the next track meet I reminded her to thing with a winning attitude and she did. That track meet she came in first on her event. She was so happy and I was happy for her. She didn’t think what I told her was true and she finally saw it. In order to get where you want to be, you need to have the best attitude because it is all worth it.

    1. I like your blog this week. I totally agree with having a positive or negative attitude will affect the outcome of situations. When your friend thought she would do good at track and she didn't. Then you told her to think positive and she got first makes a big difference on life.

  7. This quote is about the power of positive thinking. It suggests that if you change how you think, you can do anything, no matter what the odds.
Thinking “you can” is not magic, it takes work. To learn how to adjust how you think toward a more positive “I can” takes practice. If you want something you must keep going and don’t give up. Especially when it looks like it would be too hard or even impossible to do. There are always people in your life that will encourage you or even discourage you but the final result is what you think. The first step is to decide. How badly do you want success…the “win”?
Martin Luther King said. “You don’t have to look at the whole staircase, just take the first step.” That is the most important step. It means thinking and figuring out how, one step at a time. If things get hard, then adapt, change the way you are tackling your goal and keep going. “Keep your eye on the prize” and think that you will achieve it.
What does this mean to me? It tells me to stop looking for reasons why I can’t do something. I must look toward my goal and continue to keep trying and thinking I can do this. Sometimes even if I don’t want to do something I must think I can because it is important for success. When I accomplish something that I at first thought was too hard and changed my thinking I feel more confident. That confidence is what will inspire me to keep going.
When my older sister was in High School she always stressed about her auditions for the school play. She would get frustrated and upset when she was practicing at home. Mom always said, “Think Positive. Tell yourself you can get the part.” She would then imagine herself in that part and think…”yes” I can do this. More times than not she would get the part she wanted. Each time she auditioned she got more confident and enjoyed the many plays she was in. She now uses that confidence in her present pursuit of a musical career. Remembering this has helped me to realize that having a positive attitude toward something makes a positive difference, sooner or later.
    Think you Can!

  8. "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can."- Paul Tournier. This quote is not only genius, but completely true. I believe this quote can mean many different things depending on who you are and what you believe in; but each meaning is true. For me personally, this means that in order to win you need to believe they can. The people who win are the people who believe in themselves and have faith. This may also mean that once you begin to win, even once or twice you will have the faith to continue to win. There's nobody that is able to stop a person from succeeding, but themselves. You can't win if you only compare yourself to other people, comparing their accomplishments to yours. Nobody is you except you, if you only count on other people doing the worm for you; you will never completely succeed. If you do happen to succeed while using somebody else's work, you will feel no pleasure out of getting a prize. Winning comes from your heart and your heart only. Not your parents, not your friends, not your teachers or doctors, but from yourself. This quote is saying that if you believe in solely you, and only you; you WILL win. As long as you believe that you're the best you will be the best in no matter what situation you're in. In relation to my life and the people around me; you can cheat on any test and even if you get away with it, you're not winning. You could make up any lie to get out of school or class, but you're definitely not winning. As soon as you are "winning" because of the wonderful things you're doing; when you pass that test, when you go to school and succeed, when you win your first game. You will feel a joy that's irreplaceable, almost as if it's addicting. Anybody could win, but it takes a true person to succeed. Those who win ARE the ones that think they can. Those who win are the people who know they'll do good on that test, the people you make fun of for always doing what they're told; or get sick of because they always get the attention from doing what they're supposed to do. Those are the people who're going to win.

  9. A wise man once said, "sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." This wise man goes by the name of Paul Tournier. I think that this quote could mean many things. Mainly, I think that it means that once you succeed at something, you will eventually keep striving and thinking that you can do anything. Once you keep succeeding that is all that will be on your mind and that is all you will be striving for, success. Personally, this quote means that once you achieve your goal for something, you will keep on striving to achieve other goals. You will keep trying to strive and reach for excellence. I really enjoy this quote.
This quote can relate to me in many ways. First, I can relate it to my grades. I have been striving to get good grades ever since I started getting grades and actually understood what grades really were. Once I really started getting good grades, like honor roll, it seemed to be getting easier and easier to get them. I continued to try to get good grades, but it just seemed like I did not have to try as hard as I had to in the beginning. I continue to get good grades this year.
Another way that this quote can relate to my life is with cheerleading. My team and I tried really hard to achieve our goar, to get first place. We practiced as much as we could, until we could not practice any more. We finally reached our goal at one point. After that, we continued to strive to get first place and then we did. We continued to get first place a all of our smaller competitions until we got to nationals. There, we also got first place and got the title of National Champions.
Last, I can relate this quote to my life by learning how to play the flute. I started playing my flute when I was in third grade. Then, I did not really know how to play real music. I really had to teach myself how to play up until I got into seventh grade. When I got into middle school, I barely knew how to play because teachin myself did not really work. Once I finally learned how to play, I practiced day and night, until I could not anymore. I became a pretty good flute player

  10. A wise man named Paul Tournier once said "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." I think this quote is amazing and it can mean many things. It basically means that the only people in this world that are going to be happy and sucessful are those who are going to get back up after being knocked down. In this world, with the hard things that are going to fly right at you, you have to learn to roll with the punches. You have to want sucess as bad as you want to breathe. If you are not at your goals right now, you are probably constantly asking yourself, why? Why can't I do well in school? Why can't I be the best player on the team? Why? Why? Why? The way I see it is, you have to get up and start working toward your dream. You can't stop until you get there.

The quote "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can," can relate to me in many ways. One way this quote can relate to me was when I was younger and I wanted to be a singer. I liked to sing along to my favorite songs in my room. In eighth grade I took full year music and I got interested in piano. In this class, I learned how to write music, I learned many different instruments, and I leared a lot about the history of music. I then entered high school, where I took general music. I have learned so much about piano in that class and I am pretty glad that I took that instead of just going into spanish. Before I took these classes, I never realized what I was capable of. I guess I was just scared of not doing well. This week's quote can relate to another quote that I really love which is, "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure" This quote means that many of us are afraid to fail when we try something new, but we can't let our fears get the better of us. Our lives are going to be filled with hard tasks, you have to be willing to fail on the way so you can get back up and make it to the top.

  13. " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." Paul Tournier once said. This blog means that if you try hard enough and have confidence you will always win inside. It explains that if you try and have confidence when you're trying, you’ll win mentally. It’s explaining that if you believe in yourself, than things will be easier. An example of this in my life is when i was younger and i didn't do well in school, i didn't believe in myself and I didn't want to try because i didn't think it would work. Eventually I gained confidence and excelled in my academic career. Another time I believed in myself and mentally won was recently when I lost a game of Volleyball and the team i was playing against were sore winners, and i told myself i won because of my mental state, my team was kind to the other team, and i still consider the fact that we won even if we lost because of our attitudes. Another example of a time i believed in myself and i continued to tell myself i could do anything my heart could imagine. I continue to try and try and even if i don't succeed, i believe it was a success because I learned from it. I taught myself how to surf at a young age, and I had the mindset that even if i fall, I try to understand what i did wrong to help succeed in the end. Its always good to have confidence and to be strong even when you arent the best at something and even if you haven't won. I think this is a very wise quote and Paul Tournier was smart for believing that and telling the world about it.

  14. In my opinion I think that the quote “Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." -Paul Tournier means that you have to believe that you can win. People that don’t believe that they can win are the people that never succeed. They are the one that give up on there dreams and they have the worst morals in life. They are the losers that sit home and watch all the other people complete the dream that they wanted oh so bad but no. they were just not confident in themselves to have the passion to believe that they can win. But if you believe that you can win, that is the key ingredient because if you have that, then the world is at your fingertips. You will be able to have anything that you can desire. If you play soccer and you go into a game that has the best team in the state and your team and you think that you will lose than you will lose. You can’t have an attitude that you will los. It is the worst thing for you. People have to think that they will win before they will win or they will never win. Personally, this quote can relate to me because there was a time that I was playing a soccer game against ta really good team and I thought that we were going to lose and we did. But the next time that we played this team I thought that we could win and I just kept ptting that through my mind and we won. As long as you put your mind to it you can do it. It is like another quote that I know. Mind of matter. If you think that you can than the odds are oh so I your favor.
