" Sooner or later, those who win are those who think
they can." -Paul Tournier
*What do you think this quote means? What does it mean to
you personally?
*Give an example from your own life when you have seen
yourself or someone else experience this.
" Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." Paul Tournier once said. This quote could have many different meanings but to me it means that when you win something your confidence builds up and you think you can win more things. Sometimes people get scared to do something because they fear they will fail or lose. But after you win a couple of things or get something right it makes it a little easier every time. Then there is the other way, after you win a couple of things that person will think that they are good at everything and you get really cocky. This quote can apply to a lot of different situations. For example say some kid enters a science fair and wins. He might think that he is smarter than everyone else and think that he can enter and win everything. Win things builds up people’s confidence. Because we get scared that we are going to fail and we might not admit it but everyone is scared of failing or embarrassing them selves. For me I just get scared answering a question because I think that if m answer is wrong everyone will make fun of me and call me stupid. This reminds me of the time when I was little. There was a contest in school for the best drawing and we had a week to do it. I had no idea what to draw and I honestly didn’t want to do it but I had to because it was likw are homework for that week. I didn’t win but my friend Sarah won. After she won she keep rubbing it in mine and my friend’s faces. We honestly didn’t care but she just kept doing it. Then she thought she could do like everything. She entered contest out of school and one like the first 2 and she thought she was like the best thing that every walked the earth. She got very cocky and it started getting annoying so me and my other friends just stopped hanging out with her. After she started losing her confidence went from like 210% to like 30%. But that shows that winning really helps you feel like you can do anything and losing has the opposite effect.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your response. I get what you meant when you say that sometimes people get scared to do something. I totally get that, That's why we have to overcome that. Anyways, good job with your response.
DeleteI agree with what you have to say. Everyone gets scared at times and I think it makes them not want to do what they are good at. Good job on your blog, you made a lot of good points.
DeleteA wise man named Paul Tournier once said, "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." This could mean many different things to many different people. What I think it means is those who achieve greatness are those who believe they can achieve that greatness. Paul Tournier is very correct about what he is saying. The ones who win really are the ones who think they can. Most of the time, if you don’t think you can achieve what you want to achieve, then you won’t. You will end up losing that confidence and end up failing that achievement. That is why you have to put yourself to the test. To test yourself to reach that goal. To become what you thought you couldn’t become before. For example, when you are a professional sports team and you are close to the end of the match. Let us say this was basketball. There is 9 seconds left on the clock and the opposing team just scored a 2-pointer. The score is now 107 to 105. What do you do? Well, you certainly don’t just blurt out to your teammates and say “We lost, guys.” That will bring down your team and you will most likely not win the game. Instead of that, try to bring your team up and build their confidence and say, “Come on, guys! All we need is to cook the clock and score a 3-pointer. We have the potential to do that. Am I right or not?” That will, most likely, build your team’s confidence and help your team make that game-winning basket. That is what I think Paul Tournier is trying to tell me.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to compare this to an event in my life, I would relate it to one of the greatest kids movies of all time “Space Jam.” There was 13 seconds on the clock and the score was 95-93. The Loony-Tunes were losing and they had to score a 3-pointer to win the game. So, one of the members started to say things that built the team’s confidence. The play started. One of the players passes it to Michael Jordan. He runs up to half court and jumps. He stretches his arms out as far as he can. While doing that, he is being pulled down my the other team. With all he could, he stretches his arm and slams it in for the 3-pointer. The Loony-Tunes win the game. And they most likely would not have happened if one of the members did not build confidence. That is what I think Paul Tournier is trying to tell us.
I completely agree with your comment. You have to keep your confidence level up and your head held high and tell yourself that you can. and you should test yourself to reach your ultimate goal.
DeleteWhat this quote means to me is that the people who set their minds to something that they can accomplish means that they are going to do it. When someone has determination in some that they wish to reach means that they are going to do everything that they can do to reach it. Everyone has a wish or a goal that they want to reach. "Those who win are those who thinks they can". This quote is good. If you have energy to do something or determination to accomplish your dreams and goals then you have no choice but to do it. If you are lazy and don't simply care about your goals then why wish to accomplish it if your are not putting forth the right effort. Only the people who wish to win and those who wish to get something out of their lives should be the ones to push themselves to get that dream that they wish to keep or get. This applies to everyone who wishes to get something done for themselves.
ReplyDeleteI can relate this quote back to myself because their was a time when I had to give it my all to succeed. I had to overcome my weight problem to play football. I had to run, a lot, to drop all the weight. In order to play I had to lose amount 30 pounds. Once I lost all the weight I realized I could do anything if I put my mind to it. And in my first game ever the coaches said I did awesome! We won and it was a great feeling. I helped the team win the first game of the season. Ever since I knew I could win anything if I was determined enough.
I think this week your comment was spot on! I like how thoroughly you explained the quote. And your examples were really great! keep up the good work on these assignments.
DeleteI agree with your response. I agree that you have to put in the right effort to succeed at what your doing. Good job!
DeleteI think your response was great. I also had to deal with weight loss.
DeletePaul Tournier once said "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." This quote means that people who win are people who are confident about themselves. You have to believe in yourself before you can do anything that you want to do. Confidence is important in reaching your goals and becoming successful. I think this quote is good for anybody who is trying to reach a certain goal. You have to really believe that you can do something otherwise you won't be able to do it. If you have a negative mind and think that you wont be able to do it than youre not going to do as well. But if you really try hard and believe that you can do something and dont give up on it then eventually even if it takes more than one try youre going to be able to do it. Peopel are scared of not being able to do something that sometimes they dont even try it, but youll never really know unless you give it a shot and go into it with the right mindset. I can relate to this personally because one time i was at a coffee shop with my friend playing an arcade game. She beat me twice at a hunting game but i still believed i could win so i bet her money on the third game. Even though she beat me the first two times i believed in myself that i could win the game and i tried as hard as i could. I beat her by a lot and won the money even though i spent more money on the game than i won in the bet. But it still shows that because i believed i could win and tried hard even though the situation seemed like i wouldnt win i still won. If i made the bet thinking that i wouldnt win than i probably wouldnt have won. I think this quote is really good and tells people that they should try as hard as they can and believe in themselves and have confidence. If you have confidence in your ability and yourself than youll be able to win even if it takes practice or more than one try, eventually youll be able to win.
ReplyDeleteNice blog and i like your reflection to your own life with the quote

ReplyDeleteIf you think you will win and have the mind set to win in something then you will most likely win since you have the enthusiasm to go out and conquer whatever task you need to overcome and what is necassary to win, people always think there certain to win and are confident, if your confident in winning you will fuel yourself more to win and beat everyone else.
ReplyDeleteIn this case i believe truely that im gonna win at becoming best let 1 cadet in rotc. Many people have voted for me and im sure to believe that i might win, i feel strong about the situation and think that i will beat my competition, i am very excited and fueled to push myself and make other people believe that i am the best let 1 and i know i amsure to atleast get close or even win. Although i do have one person in the run of this competition, spina. Hes a very good cadet and is very confident he will win aswell. That is my only obstacle and i believe i can overcome it and beat spina. Although it will be hard i have self confidence and think i will win against my competition for best let 1 at the military ball.
Paul Tournier once said, "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." What I think this quote means is that people that win, believe in themselves that they can win at what they are doing. You have to try and believe in your strengths so that you could possibly have a better chance of accomplishing anything. For example, If we begin the day expecting a good day, most likely it will be a good day even when unexpected things happen. If you think you will have a good day, then you will have a good day or if you think today will be a bad day, then you will have a bad day. Another example is that if you believe that you will fail a test then you most likely will fail it but if you are confident in yourself that you'll pass then you most likely pass. That's what I think the quote "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." means to me.
ReplyDeletePaul Tournier once said, " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." I believe in this quote that you have to be confident when you win there is no point in winning if you weren't confident to do so. It truly means nothing if you win with no strength or mind. Its basically like if you don't believe in yourself you can never truly get somewhere in life because your opinion in the matter is negative. The aspect is to always stay positive and if you win you will win with a brave heart and not one that just forgets and lets be.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was little my brother was going to go in the military. He was very confident and believed that he would make a good cadet. eventually in time he got to be close to the Sargent and everything came out all right. Now my brother lives at home with a healthy family and a good life and something to look back to that he accomplished. That is what I truly think that Paul Tournier meant when he said, "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can"
The quote Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." -Paul Tournier, This quote means that you always have to keep a winning attitude. No matter what anyone says you have to believe that you can succeed to actually succeed. Personally this quote means a lot to me. Its a motivation quote. Only some real understand this quote. This quote doesnt just relate to athletes. It can relate to anyone who wants to succeed in life. I can relate to this quote because I want to do good in school. If i dont think i can do good in school then i wont because i have no motivation. You always have to think positive. A place I saw this in was football. You have to have a winning mindset to complete your goals and win the game.
ReplyDeleteOne day a wise and positive man once stated, "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." That wise and positive man was Paul Tournier. I think this quote means that if you put your mind to something and work hard at it you can accomplish anything. Even if it takes longer than expected. For example its not like you are just going to pick up a guitar and be the next best guitarist in the whole wide world. But if you concentrate and work hard and practice every day and give it your absolute full effort then maybe one day you will. Just like they say "Practice makes perfect". This quote could also mean that if you believe in yourself enough and tell yourself, "I can do this!" Then you are more likely to succeed. Unlike people who tell their selves "I can't do this" who are more likely to fail.
ReplyDeleteThis quote relates to me because when I was younger and played soccer we didnt have the most talented team of them all. We lost many games at first and doubted ourselves a lot. We didnt know what we were doing and were unmotivated. So one day our coach sat us down and explained to us if we want to win we have to show it and believe in ourselves and our teammates. So when the next game came we all believed and played our absolute hardest and won our first game of the whole season! Then we won the next, and the next! Together we cheered each other on and did our best.
