  1. What does the quote " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." By Paul Tournier. Well i think it can mean a bunch of different things. But the one thing that i think that it means is that if you win enough times, you will start to get really confident. They will think that no matter how hard or who they are challenging they can win. This type of confidence isnt always really good to have. But at times it will come in handy to have a lot of confidence. This can also mean that if you doubt that you can win or even try to win then you wont. But if you believe and think you can win, then you can win. This is what i think that this quote means to me. How can i relate this quote to my personal life? Well i always doubt when in class if we ever have a spelling be or if we play dodgeball in gym. I dont think i can win. But when i actually started thinking that i can do sonething. I did win alittle bit of games that me and a few of my friends would play. That is what i think that the quote "sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." By Paul Tournier and how i can relate it to myself.

    1. I agree. You shouldn't tell your self that you can't do something or that you are going to fail. Always say you can. Don't ever doubt your self.

  2. " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." -Paul Tournier. What I think this quote means is that the man who strives for success will succeed . If you are always saying oh no im never gonna get this Im so bad of course your subconscious is going to set yourself up for failure. From my experience for trying out for state band i was extremely nervous and i let my nerves take over me. The only thing I can remember was me shaking and trembling in my skin i felt a rush of fear and as i walked in the room and i forgot everything like my mind was drawing complete blanks the fear of failing completely rushed over my body . When they said whenever you're ready begin. I no joke i stood there for five minutes just looking dumbfounded at the music i couldn't even read it i was so confused. My palms started to sweat my arms were shaking and i couldn't even see straight. I was so scared that i couldn't even play a C the key the instrument is in. but if I would of told myself i can do this . i would probably got in because i wouldn't be nervous. It like my mom always said don’t be nervous about what you do you do it for a reason and you don't bite off what you can't chew.

    1. I agree with adam because he says ''If you are always saying oh no im never gonna get this''. this is the same thing as saying that if you don't belive you can do something you are never going to be able to do it.

    2. I agree with what adam is saying. If you tell yourself you can over and over again then you will succeed. But if you doubt that you can win. You wont be able to win.

    3. Everyone goes through not believing in themselves at some point and they can learn from that by showing that if they try they will succeed. It's amazing how even some of the most confident people, like you, who get nervous. That's okay though, I agree with you, you just have to tell yourself you can do it

  3. "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." -Paul Tournier. To me this quote means that you have to believe a lot in yourself to get what really you want. If you want to be a champion you will have to tell yourself that you are a champion. If you are negative and say you cannot do something you are never going to be able to do it, so you will have to start being positive. The more encouragement you get t from other people the more effort you will put in. If you are always hard on yourself you will soon start to give up on yourself. There is no chance of winning without even trying to win at all. It is an easy concept that the harder you try and more effort you put in the better you will do you will get a way better outcome. It is just like karma. If you do good things, good thing will happen to you, if you do bad things then bad things will happen to you. The only way to become a better runner is to push yourself when you are at practices. The only way to have a heavier dead lift, front squat or, back squat is to work on form until you are as perfect as you can be. If you doubt yourself you will get mentally and also, physically weaker, or slower. You can only get better at something if you want to and if you really care about getting better at it. If somebody is a runner and they lost their legs but, they love to run so much that they will never stop loving to run, you know that they are a winner, and they will never give up on running. No matter how long it might take you should never stop trying to be better until you are the most perfect you can get. And you will never be perfect, so you can never stop trying to get better. If you push to your limits super high every time your limits will get really high. So you will have try harder all the next times. 1. I totally agree with what you are saying. If you keep thinking that you are going to fail you probably will. Because you have to believe you can have success t get success.

    2. I agree with you Molly. You have to always believe in yourself to try and do it, and if you are too hard on yourself, you will begin to say that you cant do it and try to stop. I have learned that from experience.

  4. Paul Tournier once said "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." What I think this quote means is that if someone keeps on winning, will begin to gain confidence about themselves and do even better than they did before. Basically, if you keep losing, it will lower your confidence and you won’t think you are good enough to do it. If you try and win, you will raise your confidence to know that you will do better and win more. This quote can relate to my life when I was playing soccer when I was younger. When I played with my team, we always lost pretty badly and it lowered our confidence. We all tried and raised our confidence and when we did, we started winning and it made us really happy with ourselves. Once in my life I have seen people deal with this. I have seen people struggle with keeping their good grades. Whenever someone got a failing grade, it was like losing a game and it lowered a lot of people’s confidence. When they raised their grades up, it was like winning and their confidence would go up greatly. Another example goes along with what I just explained. I would get a bad grade and I would lose my confidence. As I brought them up though, I would raise my confidence until I would always win and get good grades and it helped me with my confidence. If we keep losing our confidence will lower, but if we keep winning, we will know that we can do it and raise our confidence.

  5. " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." -Paul Tournier. I think this quote means that if you want to achieve something or strive for something great then you have to keep persevering to reach that goal. You can't just give up when times get rough. If you do decide to give up then you will never succeed in life, but those who don't give up they will be the ones who win. It's like the quote "believe and achieve". Whatever you believe you can do: you actually can do because anything is possible. That's what this quote means to me personally- believe and achieve.

  6. "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." This quote was from Paul Tournier. What i Think this quote means is that those people who won were the people who had a vision that they can win. It means to me personally that once that person thinks they have what it takes to win they are going to everything they can to make it happen. And that they will continuously work hard. This quote relates to me because like everyone else we all have dreams of doing something with our lives. I want to be a professional basketball player to i just can't sit around and not do anything. So i'm going to have to work really hard to win and accomplish my dream. It also relates to me because i remember when my older brothers friend got the new super smash bros and I couldn't beat anyone as in my brother and my older brothers friend's friend. Ever since I started using link I finally started to win. That's also how it relates to me.

  7. "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." -Paul Tournier. This quote by Paul Tournier means that you sooner or later if you want to be successful you must envision yourself doing it in order to make it become a reality. This is a good quote to keep in mind when doing a difficult task because you must have self-assurance in order to succeed. One example of this is Reggie Miller. Reggie Miller is a former professional basketball player. Back in the day , the Pacer Knick games were to die for. When those two teams played each other, it turned from basketball into an all out bloodbath. The games got the worst at The Garden(The New York Knicks arena). But in the Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals, Reggie "Miller Time" Miller showed that he really thought he could win. At the beginning of the 4th quarter, the pacers were trailing 21 points to the New York Knicks led by John Starks, Patrick Ewing and Anthony "Mase" Mason(rest his soul). People are leaving the arena because they think that the game is over, thats when Reggie Miller scores 25 points in the 4th quarter to bring the game within 7 points with 20 seconds left. Thats when a news reporter came to Reggie and he told her that they were going to win this game. Reggie brings the ball up the court and shoots a 3 bringing the game to 4 points. Miller then steals the inbound pass and brings the game to 2 points. with 5 seconds left he steals the ball from John Starks and instead of taking the layup to force overtime, he steps back and shoots a 3 to upset the knicks with a 1 point victory for the Indiana Pacers which earned him the nickname "Miller Time" In conclusion "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can" and Reggie Miller thought and knew he could win and came through for his team despite the rough play, spiteful crowd, and annoying antics by Knick-lover Spike Lee

    1. I agree with your analogy of the quote. This is because Reggie Miller was used to winning and he wasn't going to let the Knicks win even if the game was out of reach. This showed great determination by Reggie Miller to dig his team out the hole and bring them to victory.

  8. Its been proven that more people succeed when they believe they can rather than not believing. "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." -Paul Tournier. To me this means that those who say to themselves they can win, win. Those who don't aren't as confident so they have trouble doing better. Those who say they don't believe in themselves don't try as hard which causes them to not get as far as other people. Personally to me in order to win the race you have to believe in yourself completely. You have to let go of your fears, and the anxiety and just believe 100% that you can do it. When I was younger I'm not going to lie, I was chubby,self-conscious ,and shy . I worked hard to become who I am today. I didn't believe at first that I cold be different, that I could better myself. So I didn't get very far I stayed the same for while because I believed that no matter what i couldn't succeed. At some point that changed and I actually started to believe. Once that happened There started to be a change in me. I could see myself becoming less shy and more confident. I became more outgoing, strong, more fit, and brave. I started to win the race that I was running. Doubting myself made me mentally weak which is what made me lack physically. The harder you try, the more you want something, the easier it is to see yourself winning. We have to be able to see ourselves winning in order for us to feel as if we can. Everyone in the world gets scared or nervous at some point in their life's its inevitable, and that's what makes us second guess ourselves.

  9. Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." this quote means a lot. one reason is because its telling you to have a positive mind and not let yourself down. and that you have to believe in yourself or less the things that you are trying to achieve aren't going to be achieved unless you have positive thinking. it doesn't matter how hard the times are for you, all that matters is that you keep chasing the thing you want till you have finally achieved it. nothing can bother you because if it does its just going to put you in a bad position and its going to stop you from finally achieving something. if you keep telling your self that your going to win, your going to start feeling comfortable and your going to start realizing that your becoming better then before. And yes losing is not a good thing. everyone hates losing. but when you lose , you don't let it bring you down, you think about what you did wrong and you keep doing it till you beat it and you do it the correct way, that way you don't make the same mistake you made that made you lose. but what really matters is what happens when you lose. do you let it destroy you, or do you get back up and try again. and for those who think there not good enough because there not the best at some things they do, but when they doubt themselves, they lose that motivation to-do better. I can relate this to me because at one point I wasn't trying hard enough in school. I started telling my self that am going to fail that am never going to make it to the next grade. I started to not do any homework I started not paying attention. till one I realized that without school what kind of career am I going to have with out education. and then I started doing my work. so the times that I kept doubting myself was just making me not do my work any better. but till the day came that I motivated myself to do better I did. I started handing in my work. and started to pay attention more. always have a positive outlook to everything because one day it will matter to you

  10. “Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can”, Paul Tournier. What I think this quote means is that when you win a lot you will start to think that you will never lose. This is because you will start to get confident. Usually when you are doing something for so long you won’t think otherwise. That it is a routine. Winning sometimes gets into peoples heads. Their mentality is win, win, win but never think of what if they don’t win. This actually happens in my life too. In gym I am on a volley ball team that only wins. Since we keep winning I have the mentality win, win, win and anything below that is unacceptable. One time we lose and I didn’t know how to take it, I was so use to winning I never thought of losing. I am very competitive so losing is something I don’t take lightly. Then, when you think about it, you think of the things you did wrong so then you can do better the next time. Some times losing is a good thing because if you always win, you won’t improve. Sometimes going through struggles make you better not just as an athlete, a person.
A basketball player named LeBron James can go with this quote. LeBron James won 2 consecutive NBA Championships. Last year he lost in the NBA Finals. He was so used to winning he never thought of how to improve or even lose. After that he left the Miami Heat to go back to his original team he played the beginning of his career with, The Cleveland Cavaliers. Now he is playing great as he leads his team to the playoffs.
“Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can”, Paul Tournier. What I think this quote means is that when you win a lot you will start to think that you will never lose. This is what I think this quote means and how it goes with LeBron James.

    3. I agree with you Alvin because LeBron James was so used to always winning and always getting his way so that when the Spurs showed that they weren't going to back down and roll over for "The King" it was like a huge punch in the mouth. The spurs are a huge example of this quote because they knew that they wanted it more so they were going to win, but on paper the Miami heat team was better because they had the veteran leadership of Dwyane Wade and they had the young athleticism of LeBron James

" Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." Paul Tournier once said. This quote could have many different meanings but to me it means that when you win something your confidence builds up and you think you can win more things. Sometimes people get scared to do something because they fear they will fail or lose. But after you win a couple of things or get something right it makes it a little easier every time. Then there is the other way, after you win a couple of things that person will think that they are good at everything and you get really cocky. This quote can apply to a lot of different situations. For example say some kid enters a science fair and wins. He might think that he is smarter than everyone else and think that he can enter and win everything. Win things builds up people’s confidence. Because we get scared that we are going to fail and we might not admit it but everyone is scared of failing or embarrassing them selves. For me I just get scared answering a question because I think that if m answer is wrong everyone will make fun of me and call me stupid. This reminds me of the time when I was little. There was a contest in school for the best drawing and we had a week to do it. I had no idea what to draw and I honestly didn’t want to do it but I had to because it was likw are homework for that week. I didn’t win but my friend Sarah won. After she won she keep rubbing it in mine and my friend’s faces. We honestly didn’t care but she just kept doing it. Then she thought she could do like everything. She entered contest out of school and one like the first 2 and she thought she was like the best thing that every walked the earth. She got very cocky and it started getting annoying so me and my other friends just stopped hanging out with her. After she started losing her confidence went from like 210% to like 30%. But that shows that winning really helps you feel like you can do anything and losing has the opposite effect.

  12. Paul Tournier once said " Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can."
What I think this means is that once you win you know you can win again. But just because you won doesn't mean you will always win. If you try to be successful than you will succeed. From my experience I never thought that I was going to win in volleyball and I kept getting very nervous and I didn't know what to do cause I was never winning or doing what I wanted to do because I was always doubting myself. But then in one of the games I was in I was saying how I wanted to win and I kept telling myself that and soon after that I finally knew I could. I started doing better and we finally won or we were closer to winning then any other times. Just because we kept loosing doesn't mean we are always gonna loose. Everyone has to think positive. And what this quote means to me personally is that winning is good but we are not always gonna win. We have to think positive and never negative or stress. Thinking like that will just always bring you down and you will always feel like that!

I think this is assaying once you win once , you will always think you can win again. but just because you one doesn't mean you always forever will win. If you try too reach your beast then you'll get there. in my life I never really thought I would be the one too score the first goal of the season . But after I did I was like I can do this again for sure no problem , and we lost the game but it was SO much better then our scrimmage . we were so proud . I was proud of myself . My family was even more proud and it just was an amazing feelings and im more then happy too score more and help people score , winning isn't everything but it sure is nice

  14. Paul Tournier once said "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." This quote means that people who believe they can do something usually does it. They most likely achieve whatever they are achieving. This quote means to me that anyone who sets their mind to winning, can do it. If you are negative and think you are going to lose, it’s more likely that you will. If you have a positive attitude and believe you will win, you will. My opinion is that It doesn't always have to be about winning. The quote also applies to accomplishing things if you believe in yourself.

I can relate to this quote in many ways. For example, every Wednesday we have to run track in gym. I was really confident about getting a good grade by the end of class. I tried my best and believed in myself the whole time. Although I got very tired, I pushed myself through it and ended up getting a 100. I knew that I deserved that grade and got it because I set my mind to it. Everyone can achieve if they believe they can. In conclusion, Paul Tournier once said "Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can." and that this quote means that people who believe in themselves achieve in the thing they hope to achieve. Also that i can relate this quote to times in my life that i hoped to achieve and did.

  15. What this quote means is that if you believe that you can win anything you do that you will eventually lose. this usually means for teams or things that there are competitions for. For a good example if someone is really good at Street Fighter 4 and acts like nothing can take them down and then they go up the best Street Fighter 4 player and gets there butt handed to them that is a good time to use this quote. This is also used when someone is very cocky(usually people who think that they got mad money and expensive things). For a good example in the T.V. Show "The Walking Dead" one of the antagonist, The Governor, He made him self seem like he is on top of the world and even in the comics he acted like that. Spoiler alert if you are still behind in the show/comics don't read this part. The Governor then comes to realize that he is very stupid at the mid season of season 4 he tries to have a war with rick and and his crew (Rick is the protagonist) and gets killed in the middle of warfare because he was such a cocky jerk and killed off Hershel (which was a crowd favorite in the T.V. show but not as much in the comics) . But enough talking Walking dead and lets go to my life when this qoute was used. When i was talking to some kid he was saying how he could beat anyone in Super Smash Bros(SSB). So i did a friendly challenge with him in SSB and I WHOOPED his butt. I 3 stocked him (not loosing a single life) and he was heart broken when i did that to him. but in my defense he was a cocky 12 year old. so that what this quote meant to me and those were some examples that i found useful.
