  2. The quote,” There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest,” is a very interesting quote. Justice can be seen from numerous amounts of perspectives where it is due to the upbringing of the person or due to their cultural beliefs, however they are all guided by the principal of fairness. Sadly though, sometimes we may be powerless to prevent injustice from occurring, as we are not always in the position to do something. I think that this quote is very special for many different reasons because it reflects on the Holocaust genocide. This quote brings back the memory of how Hitler killed 11 million people in total. This quote is saying even though there was such a big devistation it could have been prevented if someone stood up and said something. You can’t completely change something to make it right. You can still definitely say something or try to do as much as you can to prevent it from happening. I think it would be better if you said something to someone and it not working out the way you want it to, rather then just walking by and being a bystander. If you can make an effort into stopping something it will help many others possibly you. This quote is so much related to the Holocaust because someone like Hitler was able to pull off the most dangerous genocide in the world in modern day. I can’t believe how something of so much mass destruction can go on with out any one knowing or anyone stopping it. I don’t know how the people that helped Hitler were able to do this. This genocide could have been prevented if someone or most of the people that Hitler called said something. I think that if someone stood up for the Jewish community the 11 million Jewish people that were killed wouldn’t have gotten killed. Since, there weren’t people that stood up for them or said something about it they all ended up dying. I would say there were more bystanders then activists when the Holocaust was taking place. Therefore, the quote,” There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest,” is a very inspiring quote to many people because it brings up a big time in history.

  3. There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” -Elie Wiesel
To me this quote means that there are going to be times when people (the world) may be powerless to prevent stuff thats not justice.but that doesn't mean we should not try to protest.. And give up on changing the world.. Times its gonna seem like no justice will be served for an unfair , racist , insane , crime.. And its not always gonna be A Solved case.. Or Sometimes the victim may suffer or even die and then the criminal (suspect) gets away with it all and is proven guilty. Everything is Not fair.. And Humans can't always change society and make a difference but that doesn't mean we should give up.. And just stop trying.. Stop protesting.. 😕
Like a few years ago When George Zimmerman Shot trayvon marting for no reason because of racial issues or all the stories about the Caucasian police men shooting black males while they are unarmed.. ' peoples parents have tried to win the case knowing it wasn't going to go very far.. But people still protested and tried to fight for black rights... To think racism will never end is horrifying..' Its sad.. And worry some. ' that doesn't mean any of us should give up. Change is going to come if we keep fighting.

    1. Great job on the quote Kanisha. I totally agree on ypur interperation of Elie Wiesel's quote "There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” For example I mostly agree with you saying to never not protest and give because you can help change the world one day. Speaking of world I like how u reworded it to not be about you but be more about the world. nice job :)

  4. Elie Wiesel’s quote “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest,” means a lot for me for a couple of reasons. The first reason is because in my opinion we should all live by this quote. I say this because there is way too much racism happening in the world that we sometimes can’t protect. For example we all sometimes cannot protect other races from stereotypes and discrimination however we can stand up and protest it and bring awareness to it to one day maybe ending that act of racism. My second reason is that this means that we should stand up for an injustice that we experience someone else go thru. For example at school we see bullying happen all the time and we never do something, but if we did stand up before it got out of hand we could potentially save a persons life. Just like the example we read in class about other students picking on a kid who was gay and this would go on in till the one kid threaten to bring a gun and shoot him which in y opinion should of never gotten that out of control. That is what I think this quote means to me.
I also experienced Elie Wiesel’s quote “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest,” many times in my live before. One example would be all the media around officers killing African Americans which I think will sadly never end. I say this because it is an interesting debate because the officer isn’t always at blame however the African American isn’t ether sometimes and this cause peaceful and violent protest all around the world. However since this is such an outgoing debate I believe that this will never end sadly. Another example I personally experience was when I was in middle school and someone I knew was getting picked on and I somewhat let it slide before it started to get more and more serious. Of course I was still wrong because I did let it slide but I informed the teach about the insistent and the kid and the bully are actually good friends as far as I can tell now. That is how I experienced Elie’s quote.

    1. I agree with what you said Mike. I agree because I think you had portrayed this quote nicely. You had explained yourself in the best way I think anyone could. Your examples have greatly worked well with the quote. You have done nicely with your explaining.

  5. The quote “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” was stated by Elie Wiesel. This quote that was said by this intelligent man is the greatest quote I had ever seen in word form. I believe that this quote means that we sometimes can't help a bad situation but there is no reason to not try. This quote also means other things like we should not be a bystander in situation and if we can help then help but if not then try and help. This beautiful quote relates so much to real life as well as movies and other things. There are also many other ways that this quote relates to things that we never even imagined.
This quote relates to my life experiences by when I was younger I had seen many people standby and watch while I sat by myself or even play on the playground alone. Every time I went to go play with the other kids I would never be able to fit in or even be liked by them. I would always try and get them to like me but they never quite did. It wasn't that I was to weird but it was that I was to nice to everyone for some people. That was until my friend Jessica came and everyone stopped treating me like I was to nice and they started treating me like a real person. My friend was the one to stand up and stop being the bystander and she was the one to save me from being lonely. Everyone has some what of the same situation that I had but there is always one person who steps up and saves the day. That person could be anyone who is being the bystander and this quote tells us to stop being the bystander and start being the savior. This quote relates to more than we think. We just need to know how to let this quote help us. We all have been affected by this quote we may not know it but we have been and we will always will be affected by this quote. Elie Wiesel was a intelligent and honest man the quote he had said works it's way into all of our lives no matter what way we look at it.

    1. The quote, "There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest" was once said by Elie Wiesel. Every interpretation of this quote could be different, it all depends on the views of the person. I personally feel as if means that even though we cannot always change the outcome of the situation it does not mean you should ever stop trying. You should never just sit there and watch something happen. For example, you could relate this to bullying. Now a days so many people get bullied while other people just sit there an watch it happen. If you know it is wrong then you should not just sit there and watch it. You always should fight for what you believe in no matter what the circumstances are.
This quote could relate to so many different things. It can personally relate to my life through basketball. In the first half of the quote it says "There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice" it relates to basketball a lot. Some things are just out of your hands. One game you may be doing amazing while another one you could be doing terrible. You never can really know what is going to happen in the game. But in the second half when it says, "..but there must never be a time when we fail to protest" I think it means more to never stop trying. You could be ahead by 20 points or you could be behind by 20 it does not matter. You never stop trying to do your best. If you fail to protest your basically fail to try. Basketball is just one of the many ways you can relate this quote to people everyday. Elie Wiesel's quote was very strong and powerful and could relate to anything you could possbily imagine.

  6. “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” -Elie Wiesel
What this quote means to me is that us as humans don’t have the power to stop every day crime before it happens. We can’t always be there if we wanted to be. But we can’t fail protest. We can always protest against the things we don’t like or things that are not fair. Like in Ferguson when a cop shot a Michael brown for stealing something in a convenience store. If someone was shot 8 times for stealing and have the man walk toward the cop and died, people will find that unfair. Why should he die when he was going to pull out whatever he stole from the store to give to the cop? There are times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but we can always protest. We protested on that accident, because people saw it as racism and it was simply unfair to people that this man was shot 8 times and then having the last bullet be the fatal one. Imagine for his family felt when they heard that he was dead , imagine what his closest friends felt when he died, but then people have the nerve to say “why are they Protesting”. Its mind blowing to see, how some people don’t care.

    1. Great choice of words Eli, you are really smart man. I agree with you that sometimes the smallest protests can stop the biggest investigations. It's a shame that there are police who abuse their power especially towards other people of different races and us as humans can work together to stop it. Great choice of words my friend!

  7. “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” A powerful quote said by the very wise, Ellie Wiesel. My interpretation of this quote is that even though we see something wrong and can do nothing about it, we can and will always rise against and stand up for what is right. It's like how the United States acted during World War 2, we were appalled to hear about the mistreating of the Jewish people in Nazi, Germany. Many of the citizens of the United States wanted our military to do something about this and go to Germany to go the Allies' aid in the war. There was a time that this quote's meaning came to play in my life. It was a cold November night, November thirteenth, two thousand twelve to be precise. I was at the midnight release for Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 at gamestop in the mall. I made a lot of friends on the line and socialized with them for hours, considering I got there at eight o' clock PM. The line was massive but I got a good spot and it moved quickly. At twelve ten, It was finally my turn to retrieve my game. The man behind the counter gave me my game no problem and sent me off saying "enjoy". The guy behind me, whom I've made a friend of that night, was told to show some ID indicating that he was eighteen years of age, keep in mind I was thirteen and he was fifteen. My friend was an African American, the man behind the counter was Caucasian. Discrimination, that's what was happening, one of the first stops in the pyramid of hate. Hearing this, myself and a couple of other guys my age and white turned around and told the man behind the counter that we were under eighteen and he let us go no problem. Knowing that this can potentially wreck his position at the store the clerk was forced to let my friend go about with his game. This here proves that even the smallest protests can make big changes in the world of common injustices. It shows that if us as a human race get together as one with all differences aside, we can join together and build an even brighter future for our world.

  8. there was once a interesting man that said an interesting quote. the quote states “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” this quote was once said by ellie weasel the author of night. what I think this quote means is that we may not have the power to do good powerful things what we do have the power to protest. we can protest to many things. just look at Baltimore for example. they are protesting because a cop killed a African American black guy. they are destroying many things. I think protesting is good but only if your protesting for the right reason. I don't know the whole story on Baltimore protesting but the black guy could've been doing something illegal or something bad. so maybe the cop shot him for justice. maybe the guy wasn't doing anything bad and the cop thought he was doing something illegal. there are so many possibilities on what could have happened with the black guy and the cop. this quote is a strong quote. I also think this quote means is that if you have no power get a squad together and protest against something that is right. if you don't protest something that is right you be killed. I also think this means is that protesting can stop in justice. so when don't have the power to stop injustice then protest its not that hard. I was told as long as you can put your mind to something you can do it. this quote sort of relates to my life because people doubt me everyday and in the end that's going to make me stronger. people who doubt me are just feeding me. there negative comments towards me makes me strive more and more everyday. I want to go to the nfl and then after that I want to be president. people say I wont make it but in the end im going to keep trying and never give up. when I do become president im going to protest against the people who doubted me. even if I do have power im still going to protest just so I can show the people who doubted me that I made it and so that way I can rub it in. so this what I thought of this quote. and don't ever doubt me because you doubting me is only going to make me stronger or more hungry.

  10. A wise man named Elie Wiesel once said “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest” What it think he means by this is that although we can not keep horrible things from happening but after it dose happen we can fix it. I believe his quote was inspired from his time in the concentration camps during world war two which is one way this quote relates to the real world. What Hitler did by placing all the Jews in a concentration camp or killing them was horrible and something the world could never have foreseen, but the world did protest the idea and sent its army’s to liberate the camps. A way the quote relates to my life is when my dad had a stroke last year. There was no possible way form me to stop it. But we got him to a hospital and he got better know he is back to work and we hope it will never happen again

    1. I definitely agree with what you said, Joe. I believe the quote came to existence due to his time spent in the concentration camp. Sadly he couldn't do anything to help the fellow Jews in escaping or avoiding this devastating event. Protesting against the injustice taking place towards all the Jewish population.

  11. There are going to be many times in our point where we feel powerless in a certain situation that may be taking place. There may also be times where we can fight back with something as simple as a protest against something wrong. This is best described by this quote once stated by Elie Wiesel, “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.”
For example, if someone is being robbed and they have a gun when you have nothing equipped with you, you cannot save that person. They can easily fend you off by just pointing it at you. But, you could start protests against gun violence in your general area by gathering enough support from others' assistance. You can prevent violence with the use of guns and strengthen the laws against guns for your town or city.
One time, I was sitting in my living-room when my brother was sitting there watching TV, at the time he was only five. He started looking around the fireplace and watching the fire burn, we had a fake fireplace so the fire wasn't real. He was just sitting there and then the wooden mantle just randomly fell over on him and landed on his leg. I then rushed over to him and lifted it off of his leg and checked if he was ok.
He was crying heavily like a sprinkler shooting out a mass of water. My mom came in and we couldn't really do anything for him, so we called an ambulance just incase he had broken his leg.We couldn't do anything for him but instead we had others help us because we couldn't do anything for this random action.
Elie's reason for this quote was most likely due to the mass murder of Jewish people in the concentration camps. Him and the other Jews' could not stop this horrible tragedy from taking place because they had nothing or no one to help them. He couldn't do anything but sit there and watch the whole devastation take place due to the guards with advanced weaponry. Eventually, he was able to leave the death camp after its liberation because of the Red Army helping them escape from the camp. Due to this horrible wrongdoing, he was able to come up from something as inspirational as this quote.

  12. “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” Once quoted by Elie Wiesel. He's a great author! He wrote the book "Night". Night is about the holocaust, Elie is a holocaust survivor and he survived one of the worst camps, Auschitz, if that's how you spell it. It was a death camp, but anyway that great quote personally means to me, that you should never give up what you believe in and stick up for what you believe in. People in Germany never stuck up, and I bet if they did maybe the holocaust wouldn't have been as bad as it was. Now we know better to prevent another one, we know to stick up in what you believe in. That's basically what it means to me. This quote relates to me because I believe in Jesus and that so I stick up for what I believe in, if any one tries coming at Jesus. Anyway nice quote Ms bocchino. That's what the quote “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” Once said by Elie Wiesel means.
