  1. We should all know that Diversity makes for a rich tapestry and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what color.
What this quote means to me is that everyone should be respected equally no matter what color you are. Just because you are a different color than someone else doesn’t mean that they get treated like crap. Why do people judge other people off there skin color or have the nerves to call a black person a slave or something else? It’s probably because they think that they’re a different person and doesn’t think what words can do to them. They’re to busy thinking about all the names that they can call them instead of thinking that it can hurt them. It’s like they have no hearts and they don’t care about other peoples feelings. They just think that “oh I can judge other people because I got made fun of” if you got made fun of and it hurt you why will you go do it to someone else when it’s clearly gonna hurt them as bad as it hurt you. There is absolutely zero tolerance to put someone through pain because you wanted to make fun of them. This has happen to me I’ve been made fun of because of my skin color but it didn’t affect me because I was raise to not care what people say. Sometimes people do go over board and say some messed up things, but if you just ignore them you don’t have to worry about that person. You should be sorry that they have the nerves to say something to you, and tried to put you down. Be happy that they have something to say to you, because your on their minds.

    1. You have an outstanding point Eli, You are a great thinker, summing up what you said is that the quote "do onto to others as they've done to you" is wrong and people have no right to make fun of someone because they got made fun of, love how you ended this one too, "they always have you on their mind" good words brother! :)

  2. "We should all know that Diversity makes for a rich tapestry and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what color." A great quote said by Maya Angeloy. The message that this quote is sending out is that no matter what a person looks like, we are all human and we are all equal. It's telling us not to put down, but to bring up our people no matter what race or gender. We are an equal people and we need to work as a whole. If we all work together and put differences aside, maybe, just maybe, we can change the world. That is what the message of this quote is.
In this world, there have been several cases in which this quote was ignored such as the holocaust. Over 6 million jews were killed along with blacks, homosexuals and anyone that Germans didn't see perfect. The Germans had an idea of a "perfect world" that wasn't so perfect. To them, taking the lives on the innocent was their way to perfection. There were many casualties that have fallen by the SS and the Nazi party, all because they were different from the Germans.
This quote relates to me because I have friends in different parts of the world with different customs and ways of life. One of my best friends whom I've been friends with for five years lives in the United Kingdom, His name is Nathan, he's like the older brother I never had. We met on Christmas day in 2010 while playing Dragonball Raging Blast 2 online. After a couple of matches we spoke for a while and became the best of friends. We've been friends for a very long time and are still friends to this day. We make youtube videos together, Him and I both do some voice acting for characters and he does the editing. He has a full scale plot written out for his youtube series called agent zero and I'm glad to be on the project with him. Hopefully we will be able to meet someday and see each other in person to hang out and come up with some gut busting comedy for youtube videos and short films, that'll be the day. The United Kingdom is very different from the United States but that's what makes my pal very unique. Like I said, It doesn't matter what color or nationality you are, all that matters is that us as humans stick together and work from the heart.

  4. Maya Angelo’s quote "We should all know that Diversity makes for a rich tapestry and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what color," was hard for me to understand ,however I think I understood the main idea of her quote. And that main idea that diversity should never have excised because no matter who/what you are equal to the person next to you. I know it’s kind of hard to understand so I pictured it as if you grow two planets one in a spot with sunlight and in rich soli while the other one is planted with no sunlight/soli with little to no hope/expectations too grow up successfully as the one growing in the sunlight, so you will always go to the one in the sunlight and nurture it and forget about the other one. However what makes the two plants different in the begging were they both were un messed/unplanted seeds? The answer, in my opinion, nothing because they both are just seeds and has the same stuff inside. However I also think that it’s not the (lucky) plant that was in the better suited environments fault for diversity. I think it was the person who planted the seeds. I say this because they characterized the plant as a lost cause when they were the one who planted them. And stuff like that makes me mad because if you’re talking about diversity, don’t have it in your mind that its ether of the two or more races fault, because I think it’s the person/groups who focuses on the negatives on your culture and then ask them self why do people (of that group) act that way and who caused it when they are blind of the positives of that group/culture. I say that because they planted that seed in their own head. And I think more people today should learn that. I say this because I find it sad that Maya Angelo said this quote in the 50s and still to this day it applies to our everyday life. A quote that I think can relate to this quote it from Poetic justice when Kendrick Lamar says “if I told you that a flower grew in a dark room would you trust it,” I say this because diversity in our community would make people dis trust that flower because it defied the odds of not growing and blossom just like every other flower.
Examples of real life situations that involve Maya Angelo’s quote "We should all know that Diversity makes for a rich tapestry and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what color," would include the recent riots in Baltimore which to me is no way to have Freddie Gray remembered by.

  5. Maya Angelo’s quote "We should all know that Diversity makes for a rich tapestry and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what color," was hard for me to understand, but I think it means no matter what is wrong in our life or no matter what has been done to us we're all equal. I see this quote as if an a kid from Africa was standing next to a kid from Bel air they're equal even though it may not seem like it they're. They should be given equal opportunities no matter where they came from and their backgrounds. Like the movie Invictus, I am watching in History about Nelson Mandela it was unfair in South Africa because white people are favored. That’s not fair for people, we are all equal no matter skin color, religion and beliefs.
This relates to me in basketball when I play with the older kids in AAU and or at Nationals when we play a really good team I feel like not a big deal because these kids make us look bad even though the kids on the other team are probably way older then us. Another way I feel like this is when at home when I say something stupid and my brother Danny gets on me when really he is the dumb one out of us two and he knows it he just likes to push my buttons and it gets to me and it makes me mad.Like either way no matter what happens were all the same even though you may be older we are equal.

    1. I agree with Chris because everyone is different but everyone is equal. I also agree with him because we should all be treated equally because the world is equal.

  6. This quote means that the world is made up of many different people. It works together to make up society and life on earth. All these people are different colors and religions but all have a part in this world for making it better. The threads making that tapestry are the different people, and when all the people are together and work with eachother then thats the finished product, the tapestry. Some people believe though thats some "threads" are not good enough and should not be in the tapestry but without them then the tapestry wouldnt be accomplished because wed have missing links. Everyone has a roll from filthy rich higher class business owners to bums that live on the side of the road collecting change. we all have a roll and when we all do what were suppost to do and think of eachother as equal and dont discriminate that the tapestry will be complete. A perfect example is the holocaust (as this quote is set up to represent) it shows that everyone was against the jews and they tried to kill them all but without the jews then the world wouldnt be complete because they have a roll, and without them the "tapestry" wont be complete.

  7. “we all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter their color.” The wise woman that stated his was named Maya Angelou. To me this qoute means that we are all equal. We are all a part of something. We are all the same no matter our age or the color of our skin. Just because a grown man says something dosnt mean that he is right. We all haveour own opinion and that is what makes the world go round because if w all didn’t have an opinion or agreed with things that we didn’t believe nothing would be a problem and no one could see the wrong in things. Everyone dosnt have to agree with others opinions but they should respect it. Having many inputs in things help some situations and in others doesn’t. for us to be one and live in such a good place we all need to relies we are all equal and that ehat evryones says makes this place perfect the arguments and the agree ments are balanced enough to make this place perfect.

  8. "We should all know that Diversity makes for a rich tapestry and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what color." A great quote quoted by Maya Angelou. To me this quote means that every one is equal. No human is different just because they're older, or because of gender, or race. Everyone's equal and religion race or anything can't change that. That basically what it means, I bet everyone would agree that is what it means and also that it's a great quote. This relates to me because I don't judge no one because I know every one is equal. That's what the quote "We should all know that Diversity makes for a rich tapestry and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what color." once quoted by maya Angelou means to me.
