“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” A quote said by e.e Cummings. To me this quote means that in order to grow up, you need to make your own path and find yourself, not what other people find in you. It also takes context in making your own decisions for yourself and not focus on the opinions of other people, good or bad. I heard another quote that is similar to this in a video game I play at home called Soul Calibur, the quote is "A warrior is given a sword to cut his own path" What I get from it is that in life, you will be presented with many different situations and several different choices, you have the option to choose what path you go on however, before you make such a decision, think before you act, ask yourself: How will the choice benefit me? How will this choice benefit others around me? But most importantly, How will this choice benefit the world that I live in? The list of these questions goes on for miles but those are the key questions. An example of something like this comes from a show that I qatch called Dragon Ball Z, the main character Goku's son, Gohan, starts off as a young man who isn't to fond of hand to hand combat and martial arts, unlike his father who always fancies a good fight here and there. Through out the show, Gohan grows into the warrior he truly is, carrying his father's legacy. As a child about five years of age, he was reluctantly trained how to fight by his father's friend-enemy, Demon King Piccolo jr. When the saiyans invade earth late in the first season of the show, Gohan is very scared to fight and almost dies at the hands of the elite saiyan, the mighty Nappa. After watching Nappa kill all of his friends, Gohan finally musters up the courage to fight and Joins his father in the battle against saiyan prince Vegeta. Gohan and Goku's best friend Krillin finish off Vegeta and he retreats. In season two, Gohan is about 9 years old and takes on the Ginyu Force and The space emperor, Lord Frieza. Gohan is getting braver each season and he is willing to fight for what he believes in. By season 8 Gohan is an adult and is a fearless warrior, just like his father once was. You can make many decisions for yourself in this world and get involved in a lot of activities, just remember to make the right choices and trust in who you are.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Ant. Because everyone does need to grow up and make your own path. You shouldn't let people find or make one for you. I also agree with you because people are going to have to learn how to make you own decision. Instead of following other people and doing what they think is right you can stand up and do what you think is right.
DeleteI agree with you Anthony. Everyone in life has to listen to themselves more than they listen to others when it comes to their life choices. Your examples were very well. I also think the other quote from the video game helps to understand this quote a lot more. You did very well Anthony nicely done
DeleteI agree with Ant because he is right about everything he said was correct. like when he said to be your own person and don't live in the shadows. and how to be your own person definitely was right cause you wont accomplish anything in peoples shadows. that's why I agree with Ant
Delete“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” ~e.e. Cummings this qoute means to me that you have to be true to yourself in order to be who you want to.you have to believe in yourself if you want to become what you want and who you really are. To accomplish what you want in life you have to go after it and follow it. You wont go anywere in life if you dnt try and stay true to yourself. If you do what others say your not doing what you want to. Other people shouldn’t have a say in what you want to do with your life its your life not theirs. Always do what you want and don’t think twice about it.
ReplyDeleteThe quote “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” was E.E Cummings. This quote means that as you grow up you face obstacles and throughout these obstacles you will need a lot of courage to complete the task ahead. This quote also means to be who you are and don't let anyone else steer you off of your chosen path. You have to be who you really are and you can't let no one change that. This quote affects so many of us without us knowing as well. This quote is extremely important and it is also full of a great deal of knowledge. This quote has effected my life along with several others I know and you may know. This quote should effect all of just because it is basically a quote describing maturity. This quote has affected my life by someone I knew had grown up being the person they didn't want to be instead they wanted to be a artist but instead they had gotten stuck as a driver. If this person were to follow their dreams they would have been the best artist the world has seen. The way this person took was the way that their parents wanted them to take not the way that they wanted. This is what this quote is talking about it is saying how we should make our own decisions instead of having someone make them for us. If we live our lives having people make decisions for ourselves then what living worth to any of us. The quote also effects my life by when I was younger I wanted to be a dancer when I grew up but now that I am in high school and thinking about my future I can't say I want to be a dancer I chose to say I want to be an FBI linguist instead of my childish idea I had chose a path for myself and I plan on sticking with this path for a while. This quote should effect all of us and if you believe it doesn't then go back to when you were a little kid saying when I grow up I want to be an astronaut or I want to be a business man or women and then see if this quote effects your life and how you have matured and grown.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Jessy. Everyone in life has to face many obstacles in order to just be them self. which in my opinion is very sad. Great quote any way and nice job.
Deletee.e. Cummings once said “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” This quote in my opinion can relate to today’s society, I say this because if you want to be yourself you will most likely have at least one person trying to put you down. For example say if you want to wear a loud outfit to school you would propyl be made fun of someone who doesn’t like it or say if you get asked to do something that doesn’t relate to your character and you say no but they peer pressure you into doing it. However there are people with free sprits who have the courage to be who you really are. That is what e.e. Cummings quote “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are,” means to me personally
ReplyDeletee.e. Cummings quote “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are,” can also relate to my personal life. One example would be with my sneaker collection I get ridiculed for wearing loud stuff but I pride myself on having the courage to be who I am. Another example, would be my outgoing personality, at least in my opinion. I say this because I think of my self being a free spirit. That is how e.e. Cummings quote “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are,” relates to my own life.
I completely agree with you mike. I understand what you are saying. I think you and I are both on the same page. I like how we were both saying that you have to be the one to make the big change to become who u actually are.

ReplyDeleteWhat I think this quote means is that people think they don’t have enough courage to become who they really are so they act like someone their not. People want to act different when they are around people because they want to fit in. They don’t have the courage to be themselves because they are afraid of getting made fun of. There are some people who actually do have the courage to act themselves and not care what people and there are people who don’t have the courage and are scared to get made fun of. What I think this quote means to me is that who cares what people think of you. Your you for a reason. Act the way you want to act, and yes people will probably get annoyed with you because of the way you act. But who cares there to busy worrying about you instead of themselves. So my advice is don’t spend your time in what people think about unless its good things. We don’t need all this negativity in your lives
The quote," It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are," is a very inspirational quote. I think that this quote explains a lot in a few words. I think this means a couple of different things. The first thing I think this quote means is that there is only one you. Don't try to be someone else or twofaced. The other thing I think this quote means is that it takes a lot of you to actually turn into what you want to be. This quote is also really self explanatory. It does take a lot of courage to become who you really are. I could use many personal experiences. I think I still haven't found enough courage to find the real me because I am never one person. I always act like two different people. There is one side of me that is good when I am with my family and the friends I love. Then the other side of me is bad grades I don't care and get in trouble. It has taken a lot of my courage to get back to the way I am now. I think that people that still haven't found it are really looking to become who they really are. I think that if you try hard enough you will eventually turn into the person you really are. The only thing u have to do is be willing to try and make your self the person you really are.
