The quote given to us this week “ We accept the love we think we deserve.” This quote is from a movie I personally love, called, ‘Perks of being a Wallflower’. It was used to explain a very complicated yet a common phenomenon. Where good guys chase the popular girls, or the girls that don't have a care about them. Then the nice girls often label the all guys as jerks after having been mistreated by an actual one. Its so uncommon of finding people willing to go into a bad relationship, as well as staying in one. Anyone with high standards and high self-esteem, wouldn't want a jerk, and wouldn't want the guys that are actually nice. For every girl going out unhappily with a jerk who doesn't appreciate her, there's always someone who likes her genuinely for who she is not interested in. Nobody likes the bad guy, but everyone feels like the nice guy isn't enough. So this so common quote, means we will take any mistreatment, and terrible days spending crying over a guy you THINK you love. Which just shows how we will accept anything for love because sometimes we think thats all we deserve. The guys that are in love with these gorgeous girls accept the rejection because they know, or think they know that thats the love they deserve. But its not, we deserve the best, not the worst. When we think low of ourselves, we will resort to someone who will treat us badly.When we think highly of ourselves, we will wait for someone to raise us to that pedestal. To me personally I think if you are not happy, and treated terribly then leave. Don’t stay because you think you deserve that for love. Getting treated bad isn't what love is! Wait for that perfect one and you will surely get treated so highly. Much better than throwing yourself at any guy that won’t treat you half as good as the guy that really loves you. You can totally relate this to any romantic movie out there. In these romantic movies the girls always get treated well, then later on get there heart broken by that guy. In the end of every one of those great movies they end up falling and staying in love. Happily ever after! There are only few movies around that show what true love really is. Now I have no clue what true love really is but my parents are a great example of it. In these few few movies they show some girls that stay with a guy because they can’t see themselves without them. This isn't healthy why be sad, and gloomy because you think that’s all you can deserve.

Yet, you are right, we see this both in the movie and in real life. I also agree that to feel we are worthy of love we need to see real examples of loving relationships and receive love early in life. Great job on this post

DeleteI think this means that some people think they have fallen in love but there mind and heart were lying to them and they say they love them and get all romantic and when they break up the person gets all depressed and feels so alone. or some people get into such a great relation ship that they think they deserve but they dont because they are just a bad person and some one else could be happy like they are but there not there stuck in there bedroom dreaming of a relation ship they didnt have and the othere person is just a strait up jerk and has a partner when the othere person stuck in there room is the nicest person you could ever meat but people dont like them because there diffrent and stand out and do better in school and all they want is to be loved wile the person in the relation ship is an average joe who is nice looking good at sports but is dumber then a rock and dosnt really treat there partner with respect and dosnt really listen to them or pay any mind to them but the person stuck in there room is ready to commit there life to someone and do anything for there partner and be there when they are needed no matter what. Thats what i dont understand about girls they go for the really good looking guys but there the ones that beat there girlfriends or are just a complete jerk who cares nothing about the girl who is one of the most beautiful and nicest girls in the world and they put them selves in a relation ship that is completley the wrong one for them when there perfect guy has been crushing on them for god knows how long and hes been forced to watch her make these bad dessisions and she dosnt even know he exist. sometimes the right person could be the least expected somtimes love can hurt and sometimes it can feel so good but dont get all deprest if your partner breaks up with you in highschool because its been prooven that less then one percent of highschool relationships last so its what ever move on with your life that will make the sting go away.

DeleteI think the quote "We accept the love we think we deserve" means we only accept things that we think we deserve. Even if we don't really deserve it we will always want the best or want something we think we deserve. Especially if that thing we "deserve" we can not have. For an example it could be a job position such as manager of a company or being the boss of the company. It also can be a relationship or any thing you think you deserve but probably do not really deserve. Something you can learn from this quote could be is that if you think you deserve something that wasn't given to you. You either have to work harder to get what you deserve or what you want. Or you probably can not get what you deserve or love. Sometimes thing are not meant to happen. Another thing you can learn from the quote is that if your trying so hard to get a promotion and you don't get it during promotion time and you quit you probably did not deserve the promotion because you quit just because you did not get the promotion. Another thing you can learn from this quote is If you say you "deserve someone" you probably don't deserve them. A finial thing you can learn from this quote is to not be stuck up. Try your hardest and do not act like you deserve anyone or anything. Be the best you can be and work to your fullest potential and then maybe you can consider yourself lucky enough to be deserving of someone or something. Once you reach the hardest you can possibly work and the best you can possibly be then you will be deserving of what you want but only then by being the best you can be will give you want you want. Sometimes even that will sometimes not get you want you want or "deserve." Whether it be love a promotion a new gadget or even a better grade at least try your hardest work the hardest you can and be the best you can be. I can relate this quote to my life because when I was younger I used to get pretty bad grades. My grades usually were in the seventy range and eighty range. I never really cared about school but I always thought I deserved better grades. Even though I did not try that hard in those classes I always thought I deserved better grades. That was in the 8th grade. Now this year i decided I was actually going to try to get good grades and put effort into my work and study. It paid of i earned my grades and this year I have grade averages over 100.

Delete“We accept the love we think we deserve.” I think that this quote means that in order to accept love, we need to fell worthy of being loved. I also believe that we need to be given love early in life to know what it feels like to be loved without conditions. If this does not happen ,we may feel less loved able and chase after those who do not and cannot love us as they should, When this happens, we then say to ourselves, “see you don’t deserve any better,” or “you will never find love.” I also think that unless we value and “love” ourselves we’ cannot accept love from others, and so others will move on. In a way it is a little like when you give someone a complement and they do not fully accept it, as if they are not worthy. You feel awkward and eventually stop saying nice things to the person. I also think those people who have been abused or neglected at a young age have trouble feeling worthy of love because they have never really received it as a child. When someone tries to love them later in life, they do not know how to react, as it is unfamiliar. Lastly’ I think it helps very much to have examples of successful loving relationships that you can look to so that you know what real loves look like. Later on’ when you are in a relationship, you will know what to expect and what is not a good partnership. This is our time to become the best that we can be. Through friendships, sports, activities and school we can become our most “loveable” selves and present this to the world. As the quote says, if we do not love ourselves, and become our best self, we won’t be able to recognize and accept true love.
ReplyDelete“We accept the love we think we deserve.” I belive this quote means that we belive that we nust get what we deserve and that no matter what if we aren't prepared to get what is rightfully ours we will not get what we need. some people believe that what ever they get is what they get and aren't willing to fight for their needs. This shows that many people cant stick up for themselves and are scared to be happy. a quote that rocky said states that "if you are willing to go and get what you are worth then go and get what you are worth." this shows that many people are scared to get what they deserve because love is to much of a price. many people are also afraid of being to get the love they need and instead go into denial and in fact spent their lives trying to be happy. I believe that there is a way to get the love you deserve by living without worries and just not care about it.

For example in school all the kids who get everything they want still think they have a hard life when they really don’t. Also they are spoiled they don’t have any big problems in they’re life. Next during the holocaust the Jews did not get what they deserved. They did nothing wrong to deserved what happened to they. They were mass killed for no reason. And this was because the Germans just did not like them. They deserved a normal like. Not to be forced to work then killed it they were too old or to young. I can relate to this quote because yes I don’t have the best life but I don’t need anymore then I have now. I do think I deserve some things for all the stuff I do around my house but I know my family cant do that. But the main reason this quote is for was the Jews in the holocaust.

In life some things are really not meant to b. you have to look for wha you wnat and what is good for you not anybody else but you. for example its like a spot on a varsity spot in any club. if you work hard enough the yu will be in that spot youi have dreamed of. but thats only going to happen with hard work and dedication. with out it you will never get no where in getting that spot on varsity. its up to you if you want to take that step in becoming the best at what you van do. Dont quit at what your doing. if you think you deserve a spot but you know you havent put in hard work then you didnt get no spot. without putting in work you will never get anywhere. Hard work will get you far in life. and i garuantee that. and the one thing that you can never do, is not think that you dont deserve anything or anyone,because the day you finally succesed will be the day you look down on thenegativity tha was trying to hold you down from, being the best and you will say ive finally made it. it dosent have to be big it can be a grade,just pay attention put in work and you will see you will be getting better grades then before.

DeleteThe quote "We accept the love we think we deserve" means many things.To me this quote means that if we think we deserve something we will keep trying and trying until we get it. If i think i deserve a new baseball glove i will try my hardest to do good things so i can build up to get the new glove. I will not stop untill I get it because I know I deserve it. If someone doesnt think they deserve anything good then the will never get anything good in life. If you think like you deserve something you are not going to settle for anything less than the best. What you settle for all depends on how much self confindence and self esteem you have. Personally this quote means to me that if you think you are less you are going to get less, if you think you deserve a lot you arer going to get a lot. You will not accept anything but the best. to me this quote relates to me because if I know I deserve something I will work for it and expect nothing less than the best and will only receive or get the best at what im trying to get.

When you use the word deserve a person who possibly has low self esteem, may feel they do not deserve to be loved. A lot of girls and guys remain in relationships where they get treated badly because they think they do not deserve to be treated better. Also these same people can make the same mistake over and over by staying in these abusive, unloving relationships. Some people think they can never get anyone better than the person they are with because they are not confident enough of themselves. I can’t put myself in their position yet, not having not had any serious relationships of this kind yet. My friends are pretty cool and none of us put each other down in any serious way. If you can see yourself as being a good person who may be smart or athletic or whatever you will not accept someone who treats you poorly or wont love you like you should be.. Some people beat up on themselves too much and don’t think they deserve to be with a nice girl when they really do! It is important to love yourself and not be so critical because no one is perfect, not even the other person. You have to show everyone that you are worthy of love before you will actually get it. If you have low self esteem, you will let people walk all over you because you think you can’t do any better. I find this very sad and a terrible way to go through life.What most people don’t realize is that true happiness comes from inside you and it is the way you feel about yourself. Some people always need compliments to feel good about themselves so they want their partner to constantly say nice things to them. You need to be happy and like yourself first and then no one else will try and take advantage of you. At least you can hope they won’t. Loving other people is just as important but it is hard because you don’t want to get hurt by them either. I think all kids should read this book and maybe they won’t end up in bad relationships when they are older. Everey one needs love and they need to feel loved so in the quote when it says ' they think they deserve really shows its true colors. Some people are okay with not feeling loved but I know a lot of people that need love and that need to feel it as well. Its the warmth and feeling of being happy. I love being happy. Im pretty sure everyone loves to be happy. When you feel happy you would just be smiling all the time and just feel warm inside. The best way to be happy is to be in a relationship. A relationship is when you find a boyfriend or girlfriend and you have a very good romantic bond. That significant other can make u so happy you will forget what being sad feels like. Like the quotesaid, Youu want to feel loved. Now im pretty sure eveyone wants to feel like that. A other way to be happy is compliments that people may give you. This can definitely show someone's true personality and what they go threw. To me personally I think everyone deserves to be happy in some way, shape or form. Maybe this quote refers to family. If you show your not happy and mad with your family and yourself all the time they will do the same back to you and sooner or latter after so long of this going on you will just automatically think its just what you get so when you get a boyfriend or girlfriend then that will go to them and you wont be happy together. If you love someone show them and prove it to them that you do truly love them. If we all think that we are just terrible people and that's all that there is in the world then that's probably how you will be acting. It can relate to a movie I watched called the hills have eyes. Yes it is suppose to be a scary movie but it still shows the message. Two of the soldiers have a thing. They thought they should be together because they were both the same. After just witnessing his older sister have her boyfriend hit her, the main character, Charlie, is curious why people would want to stay with people that hurt them (mentally or physically) and when he really thinks about it he comes up with an answer; we accept the love we think we deserve. To me, this quote means that people only accept the things in life they think they deserve. So, for instance, if someone thought badly about themselves, than they might be more prone to date someone that treated them as such. However, if a person tends to think more highly of themselves, they might be more likely to date someone that would spoil them 24\7. This reflects a lot of what people have gone through in their lives. For example, if they grew up with an abusive parent, they could be more likely to settle for anyone that may pay attention to them. However, there is always exceptions to things like this. So to me, that is what I think the quote "we accept the love we think we deserve" means.
ReplyDeleteFrom the minute we were born we were surrounded by joy and love,but as we grow older we start to either accept or decline more of the positive emotion that enduces endorphins. "We accept the love we think we deserve" is a quote from unknown and it describes the physcology of the humans ego. We've all known people that accepted love from others that were not there,just for the pure fact of they think they deserve that. The same goes for the new generation to the new one with low self-esteem they think they deserve no love. The plain bland truth is that there is a equal amount of hate and love around us. How much we think we deserve is up to us. Personally, I'm not to close to my friends or my family. I just keep to myself and that's how I like it. I do know that my family does love me though and I know my friends care about me. I really don't know why either but I accept it. This is because when I do accept it I return it equally. Sometimes though I do have low self esteem and I don't see that they do love me just because I think so lowly of myself. That's why they say you have to love yourself before others can I guess.
ReplyDeleteThis quote " We accept the love we think we deserve" reminds me of some stupid chick flick that I watch while half asleep. I think it was "The other woman" and in the movie. The husband was cheating on the wife and the wife thought she deserved it and tried to stay with him. Luckily for her she made friends with the mistress ( who had no idea of the affair) raised her confidence and showed her that she deserved more.Eventually she moved on by throwing her ring into the ocean like any other chliche chick flick.

ReplyDeleteThe quote "We accept the love we think we deserve," is from my favorite movie, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower". In the movie Charlie, the main character, asked, "Why do people want to stay with people that hurt them?" He asks his teacher, Bill. He offers, "We accept the love we think we deserve." I adore this quote, I see a lot of meaning in it. I've seen too many wonderful people deny and reject compliments and blandishments from everyone, even spouses. They do this because they think they don't deserve it, and in some cases believe they can't or don't have this accommodates. Many people are insecure about themselves and think very little of themselves. I believe that they are that way because of society and people that want to hurt others. I think the quote means we only agree with what we think our physical traits are worth. Someone can be perfect, but if they think they are OK or less then average then they will surround themselves with people that treat them the way they want. In theses situations many things can happen, like depression. This quote reminds me of when I questioned my worth and I was insecure of myself for a while. I thought why would anyone want me of all people. I was really sad and consistently pushed people away. I thought I was very little and not worth anyone ones time, so I excommunicated many good friends and loving family members. It was a low time for me, but I got better and many of my friends, old and new, helped me get back to my normal self.

" This quote can be very meaningful to some people because of the fact that they were hurt in relationship , but yet they stayed because they thought they couldn't do any better than their current situation at that time. This quote pretty much means exactly what it says. Honestly , i believe at one point or another people will suffer through this. It is not okay to be in any situation , especially one that's not comfortable for you , just because you're scared or genuinely do think that you won't do any better. You suffer because you don't hold the confidence you need to. One of my very close friends was just in this situation , she was scared that her boyfriend would hurt her because she didn't want to be with him anymore. I believe no person deserves to be put in this type of situation where they're actually uncomfortable with the idea of leaving someone purely because you think they'll hurt you. She is an amazing beautiful girl & she should've never thought this.
ReplyDeleteWhen someone is in the situation that they are in a bad relationship and they don't want to leave because they think no one else will ever like them , they're wrong. Someone will always be there to catch you when you fall , because everyone is worth something. This quote means that even though you think no one will ever like you & no one thinks you're amazing , you're wrong. Everyone is unique & everyone deserves love. No one should ever be put in a situation like this , ever.
What I think the quote “We accept the love we think that we deserve” means to me personally is that we should never have to think about having to high of expectations for anyone or anything. Mainly because we all deserve the best especially if we give out the best to everybody including animals and people. Another thing that I think about what this quote means is that we should always expect the best and treat others the best. Because if we do this then everybody will always be happy and then we will all be able to be friends and get along with one another, as well as including having the opportunities to make new friends and having new opportunities and friendships arise from the opportunities that you are letting happen. Another thing that could also possibly happen is that if everybody is equally nice to everyone else, it would most likely raise you’re self esteem and other people’s self esteem as well as your self-esteem because most people will probably most likely be nice back to you as well!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to this quote to a movie that I once watched which is called ‘Wreck It Ralph’ and it is still one one of my favorite movies to this day, what it is about is that there’s this main character in this arcade game named Ralph and all the other characters in this arcade game think that he’s a bad guy because in his video game his job is to wreck this building (Hence the name ‘Wreck It Ralph’) so what he does through out the story is he tries to find a gold medal so he can be excepted back into his game and be part of the ‘pent house’ (which is the thing he tries to destroy in the game) so the owners of it will like him. But he struggles to do this throughout the movie until he is befriended by a character named Penelope which was a little girl who helps him out in this new dimension to become this great racer and win a medal back. and throughout this whole plot of the story he becomes great friends with her and raises his self esteem as he becomes a good guy!
So basically the summary of this whole story was that he was hated by his town but because he was nice to everyone and treated them with the respect that they deserved he became a great friend to many and now he is known as a great character in the movie who helped some other characters as well. And because of this, he is known as the great guy in the story!
