Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the
path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
*That
do you think this quote means?
*How
does it relate to an experience in your own life?
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." What this means to me is that if you go to the path that is clean and nice you are not going to succeed in what you are trying to accomplish. Going through the path that is nothing but walking you are not putting any effort to what you want to accomplish. The path that looks beat up, dark, and rough that’s the one you want to go through, because once you go through that path and make it you feel like you did it and that feeling makes you feel like no one can stop you. It feels like you were doing something that you were trying to accomplish and you finally did. That feeling is great to people. So if you are ever stuck at two paths and you had to choose the nice looking one or the one beat up one what will you choose. Do you want to succeed or do you want to fail? Sometimes going through the rough one can be hard but its going to make you better. This applies to everyone even me because if I want to be successful in what I want to be in the future I will go through the rough one because its only going to make me better at what I want to be. If you have a dream chase it don’t let anybody ever tell you that you cant when you can. So what will choose.
ReplyDeleteI like Eli. I totally agree. Words of wisdom from an athlete lol
DeleteI think your very correct. I strongly believe in your statement. i think what you said about not being cool is fine. You need to be yourself to move on in life. So if i could rate your response on a scale from one to ten i would give it a 10. So i think your response is perfect.
DeleteRalph Waldo Emerson once stated "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail". To me, this quote means if you try and go down a path that someone else has already done. He means to set your own path or trail of success of what you want to lead. Create your own path and don't mimic what other people have already accomplished. Attempt to create your own path to success and accomplishment. Don't follow or mimic people that have already done well by another person's path in life and try hard.
ReplyDeleteThe way this quote relates to my life is my brother tried to convince me to do certain classes and sports because he enjoyed doing them. Although he may have loved doing those classes and sports, they didn't interest me too much or what I wanted to learn. He did well in those classes and sports but not what I was looking for. I was into different subjects and sports different from his likes and hobbies. I wanted to make my own decisions and choices of what to do in school and what to play and learn in my life. Today it has been working well for me and I don't regret it at all in my own opinion. I took my own path and my own choices and I am proud of it other than just copying him.
Rapl Waldo Emerson once said stated "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail" means. It means don't follow what other people have done. Be a leader. Do something that has never been done and show people a new way to live. Do something crazy insane but absouletly incredible to most peoples perspectives, you got to be that 1 in a million. You have to stand out like great life figures such as even Einstein or Michael Jordan. They set their own paths an stuck with their guts and did what they thought was best, look with they left as reminder. Jordan with 6 rings, Einstein with the lightbulb their possibilities are endless.
ReplyDeleteThis relates to my life because I want to go to the NBA some day, but I want to be different I want to be better then Jordan, I want to train like "Micah Lancaster an Handlelife stars" I want to be a lights out shooter like Steph Curry an be as atheltic as the old Dwayne Wade. I want to be the best I can be! But training and hard work most take you down this path. You think "Lebron an Kobe" worked as hard as MJ, I don't think so he set his own path an left his mark an now I would love to leave mine. I think this quote once stated by Ralph Waldo Emerson was a great quote an very involved in kids lifes now an days! I bet he was a smart man too, long live Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." This quote means to be a leader, not a follower, as the old saying often goes. It doesn't mean to actually make your own trail in the woods, you could get lost, and that would not be so great.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to this quote because I make my own path for myself, metaphorically speaking of course. I sort of do my own thing and I do not care much about social norms and expectations. I do not understand how anyone could deny themselves simply for the sake of being liked; it has always seemed illogical to me. Who cares what people think of you, it does not matter in the grand scheme of things anyway. What really matters is that you make your own path, impact the world in a positive way, succeed in life and discover who you truly are, not the person you pretend to be to gain fake, superficial "friends". If someone is really, truly your friend, they'll like you for your unique personality, not the stereotypical persona you adapt.
I think that a lot of people could learn from this quote. It seems to me that people are far too conformist currently. People like to say individuality is appreciated, but the majority of people do not like it as much as they say they do. Our society has a very homogenous view of how people should be and act, and personally I believe it is beneficial to challenge these views. People who believe such things do not really think, they just mindlessly follow the herd, and the more people who start thinking for themselves and helping others think for themselves, the better. If enough people broke away from the herd, there would not be much of a herd left to follow.
I really like yours. Great job. :)) your smart. Speak very proper. Good vocab. Thanks for sharing'!!!!!!
DeleteI don't really know what this quote means but I think it means that basically Ralph Waldo Emerson is stating that you don't always have to follow the path all the time but sometimes just do your own thing or what you think is right and leave a trail from a leader. For a person who is lost to follow. Doing something different won't hurt. You can always create paths for the next person. You don't always have to follow someone else. have your own everything ... Be self sufficient by having your own expectations and your own goals in life that you want to achieve. Someone else can be doing something great and you can do something better. Plant your feet and stay there. You want someone to follow you and you being called the leader. Stand out in the dark. Enjoy life and be able to call it your own decisions.. Your own mistakes..Minot the same ones someone else made. Let that someone else be YOU !!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree and disagree with your quote. I agree because I think people should do their own thing and be them self. But I disagree when you said that you should make a path for some who is lost to follow, this is because I think you should not make any paths for any one and just lead by example. Any way your response is great and I can understand were you are coming from.
DeleteYou are correct Kanisha, there's nothing wrong with being different. It's really a shame that there's such a stigma about going against the norm, but I suppose it's the result of how our species evolved. Humans have a natural tendency to put themselves in groups, and dislike people from other groups. This is because in ancient times, people had to worry about being attacked by members of other tribes, and hating everyone in otger tribes helped people be wary and bond with their own tribe. We can see similar behavior today with innocent things like Sports and fandoms, as well as forms of bigotry and intolerance like anti- semitism, racism, homophobia and sexism. It doesn't make it right, of course, and plenty of people are able to reject the urge to follow that prejudicial instinct, which is why people were able to figure out that it's illogical to judge others by the color of their skin or other trivial aspects about their appearence/ interests/ personality.
DeleteRalph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." This quote by Ralph Waldo in my opinion a very simple yet powerful statement this is because it is easy to understand what the quote is asking you, but it is more complex to apply in your everyday agendas. For example it is easy see someone follow their own path on TV or in a book, but it is extremely hard in “our society,” to do it ourselves and to see it happen in real life. I say “our society,” because now we are all living in a society based on another person’s feelings and it is very unusually to come across a person who doesn’t care what someone else thinks or dose and just tries to be them self. I also think instead of just us being our self we should lead by example in the sense that we should encourage more people to do the same. That is what I think Ralph Waldo Emerson is trying to say when he said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
ReplyDeleteLike I said it is easy to see Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail," applied to media and entertainment but it is very unlikely to come across a “free spirit.” This being said I have only came across a “free,” sprit that had taught other people how to do so once in my life. This “free,” sprit was my old neighbor, and even though it was around 4-5 years ago I can still remember it like it was yesterday. We had recently moved into a new house when I was starting, I think it was, second grade, but any way I had come across a kid at the nearby playground and at the time I thought he was one of the coolest kids I ever saw he had just left an aspersion on me that still to this day I have. He had told me to be myself on the first day I started second grade and just the way he said made me want to be my true self and just have people except me for me. That is how Ralph Waldo Emerson’s quote "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail, applies to my real life experience.
I completely agree with you Michael. I love that we are basically on the same topic here. This is pretty much what I said but with a lot more in detail. I like that you said that you have only came across a "free" sprit that had taught other people how to do so once in my life. I like the fact that you are talking about a free spirited person. This looks like this has inspired you just like it has to me. This being said I like your quote and what your saying.
DeleteRalph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." What he meant when he said that is do your own thing not what others tell you to.inaddition it means be a leader not a follower. This is relevant to me because last year I wore a collared shirt and tie every day so other kids did it to. This relates globally because when nobody responded to the Ebola outbreak the s did so then other country’s took it more seriously.
ReplyDeleteRalph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." What this means to me is that if you go to the path that is clean and nice you are not going to succeed in what you are trying to accomplish. This can either help u be successful or bad. Don't be a follower be a leader. If u take someone else's path you are not being yourself. Your being a follower which is being someone other than you. If u take your path you are being yourself which you should always be. This is what I think the quote means. There is a lot of ways this quote ties into my life.
ReplyDeleteThis relates to my life for many reasons. I always followed other people's paths. This wasn't turning out to be to great for me. This was hurting the way I acted and lived. I was trying to be a cool kid like everyone else because they got the most attention. When I was doing this I started to fail my classes and even get into a lot of trouble just to get attention. So I was surprised that this quote came up because I'm still trying to find my real self. I have been playing a bunch of different people and all I am doing is hurting my self because it doesn't make me any better. Therefore, I think the quote "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail" is very inspirational to me and many others.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I think that this quote means you should go you're own direction instead of following what others do. It's saying to be a leader instead of a follower. What that means is do not be encouraged into doing something to make you fit in or look cool or do it their way just to make them satisfied, you should make your own way and do what is beneficial to your way of doing things. I have gone through something like this in my lifetime, I know I bring this up a lot but my fifth and sixth grade years reflect upon this. People wanted me to give up my interests just so I can be their friend but I said no and kept being me. I pushed forward and made my up to where I am today. I ignored what everyone said and did and I kept pushing, and made it through. From my experiences I have grown emotionally and mentally stronger. I have overcome petty childish insults and have seen them as immature. They do not phase me what so ever and I've never been better. I have been doing things my way and I'm going to keep it that way. I hope I've inspired some of you with this, now go out there and make your own path.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you ant I feel like this actually fits this quote. The words you say can make someone make there own path and make them say that I did it. Making your own path is something that you treasure. And what you said about not changing yourself because someone wanted you too and you said no that is showing us that you make your path. This quote is very deep to people because it makes you want to make your own path. This was a great quote and a great answer.
DeleteThe quote " Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." was said by Ralph Waldo. This quote is very inspirational because people can relate to it often. This quote means not to follow everyone else be yourself and make your own way. This quote can also mean don't follow the crowd be who you want not what they want you to be. The quote means a lot to me and probably a lot more to other people.
ReplyDeleteThis quote means so much to me because I am a very unique girl. When the other girls learned how to shop I learned how to play video games when they learned how to paint their nails I learned how to waste my money in a game stop or in another video game place. Ever since I was little I wasn't quite like the other girls and because of that I hang out with the kids down my street and they talk to me like one of the guys. My first real friend that was a girl is my best friend Jessica. Jessica and I have been friends since third grade it's been almost six years now that we have met. I can't say that Jessica is such a tomboy like me but we both know how to be girly sometimes. My friend and I have been through everything together being ourselves and we found people who like us for who we are not what we do. This quote is trying to explain this to us because you should always be you not who you don't want to be.
I agree with you. When you said how when other girls learned how to shop you learned to play video games and that you didn't mind that. That you are okay with being different than the others and doing what you want
DeleteRalph Waldo Emerson once said " do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where their is no path and leave the trail." This quote means to me that you can't always take the easy route to do something you want to. You have to work for it and train for what you want to accomplish. Nothing is just going to appear in front of you. You can't always take the easy way out of life. Life is hard and you have to fight for what you want. Sometimes when your fighting for what you want the oath isn't always clear but you still have to push through and make it no matter what obstacles you face.
ReplyDeleteThis quote also relates to my life. I have been playing softball for 7 or 8 years now and feild hockey for three. I am very good friends with most of the girls on my teams. Even thought we are all good friends I am still different then them. When they get older they all want to go to a sports collage and okay in major teams but that is not what I want to do. I want to go to a fashion school and make clothes and do makeup. Some of the girls on my team think that is stupid and I should only go to school and focus on sports rather than doing what I want. So I made my own path and I am still following my dreams even though some people think they are stupid.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." i think this qoute means is that instead of following your freinds and trying to fit in you should be yourself and not be a follower and be a leader, so that way if your freinds are doing something bad your not following them you are being yourself and you are doing the right thing. also leave a trail which means lead others to do the right things instead of the wrong things. leave a legacy so people know that you always did good and not bad. this relates to my life because my aunt always told me to be a leader and not a follower. i have followed my freinds a couple of times and i regret it because i got in trouble a couple of those times. now i know not to follow my freinds because following your freinds can get you in trouble. im going to become a leader and do the right thing instead of the wrong thing, because one day doing the right thing and being a leader not a follower is going to get me somewhere in life.im not lanning on following other people and get in trouble when i can be a leader and make something out of myself. i am planning on growing up to be in the nfl. i know that if i keep following my freinds and not wanting to do my work in school im not going to make it to the nfl. the reason why i wont be able to make it into the nfl because i was following my freinds instead of being a leader. i will leave a trail, a legacy so other people can follow and become something great.
