An amazing man that brought his imagination to life for children everywhere known as Dr. Suess once said "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." I think that this quote means to be yourself, and express yourself the way you are because the most important people will except you for you, and love you in all your forms; and the other people who don't except you aren't worth your time. I also think this quote means surround yourself with people who enjoy being with you, and not let other peoples negative out looks bring you down. The quote "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." relates to me in countless ways. This quote is like an everyday reminder for me because I'm different. I don't dress the way most girls do. I prefer band t-shirts over dresses and vans snickers over heels, and I wear 1000 rubber bracelets. Many people will criticize me, make first impressions about me, and judge me based on my appearance. But then, I have a small group of friends that mean more then life to me. They don't stare at my wrists they stare into my eyes, they don't question my appearance, they except me for who I am. I don't waste my time trying be excepted by society's expectation of beauty. If I love myself and I feel pretty in my own skin then im not going to change. I love my friends, and they love me, we don't judge each other we love each other. People that don't except you for who you are weather its your clothes, or who you hang out with, or even because there jealous of you. Don't let anyone change who you are.

I think this quote means to express yourself the way you want to. if your friends are your true friends they wont care how you feel or about your personality. the people that mind the way you feel or the way you act and aren't your true friends and aren't important to anything in your life. anyone who doesn't mind you for you are the people that matter the most in your life. "be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." this quote relates to me in many ways, everyone has people in there lives that don’t care what religion you are our how you dress, there your friends no matter what happens. Other people will only be friends with you if your popular or dress nice and wont be because you dress differently or are friends with other people who dress differently and aren’t in the same social group as them. Overall I think Dr.suess is totally right, “be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” This quote is good words to live by and relates to everyone’s life in some way.

I think my favorite part of you blog was when you mentioned the popularity, and being in the same social group. You and I are not apart of the same "social group" and we aren't close friends, but we do get along; and ill always be here when you need someone. I also fully agree in your last sentence, and how this quote can relate to everyone. Your words are very true and I agree with everything you said.

DeleteThe wise, famous, Dr. Suess, once said "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter won't mind and those who mind don't matter." I personally believe this quote means to be yourself with no regrets, the people who belong in your life will love you for you, and those who don't; don't matter. This quote relates to me in many ways. One of them being the way I used to dress. I used to be extremely scared to be myself because of how judgmental people are. I changed myself in every way possible, my hair, my clothes, the way I looked and even the way I talked. Even when I changed myself, my real friends stayed and didn't mind a bit. Being yourself is the only way to know who really belongs in your life, it's the only way to be truly happy. A while ago, I even changed the music I listened to, to fit in. Even if I didn't like it at all, I put up with it because that's what some people liked. After a while, I got sick of pretending. I remembered all of the good friends who were still there and cared every step of the way. I believe this quote is extremely accurate, being yourself is definitely one of the most important things in life. DeleteWhat I think this quote means is you can say what ever you want and your friends wont mind about it. The ones who will care are the ones who aren’t your friends. Your friends are the ones who will support. No matter what you say they will support you because they are your true friends. You can also be who you are and your friends are the ones who will like you. They won’t say anything about you. I can relate this to my life by I can be who I am and say what I want and my friends will still be there for me.
ReplyDeleteThe people who will mind are the people who don’t like you. They will be against you. Most people will be bullies or they envy you so what you say or how you are will bother them. Also, most people will try to bring you down and use things about yourself to achieve that. Some things they will try to say are “you are over weight” or “you are not good looking”. Just try not to listen to them. I can relate this to me by there this girl I know who they say things to her because she says what she wants and she is herself. Just be who you are and say what you wants.

For example, if you try not to act like your funny self with your friends because your crush is sitting right by you, then your friends who care, are being left in the dust, when you try to say cool things around your crush that doesn’t even care about you or what you say!! This quote relates to me in many ways. One way is that I had a friend that I thought would be my best friend forever. Well, that wasn’t the case. One day this new girl came to my school, and she was really nice and dressed super cool. . The new girl quickly became popular. My friend always had big dreams of being popular and left me. So, the things I said around her didn’t mind , even though she was a person in my I though was important and mattered.

This quote could mean a lot of different things to different people, but in my opinion, he was just trying to say don’t worry what others think. He just found a creative way to say you should be able to be yourself and people shouldn’t mind if you mean anything to them, but if they do mind then you don’t really mean something to them and that’s okay. When I was younger I wanted to fit in with the cool girls so bad, I wanted to do cheerleading. (Obviously it wasn’t something id enjoy, I just wanted to do it.) I had two best friends then that told me “you only want to be a cheerleader because you want to be cool.” And at that moment, I was upset, because I told myself I wanted to do it, but they told me the truth. And I was mad for a while but today I’m thankful that they knocked sense into me, I mean it’s kind of contradicting considering they mattered and they shouldn’t have minded what I do, but in a way I feel like they did it for a reason, maybe they didn’t want to lose me if I made new friends or maybe they just wanted to tell me the brutal truth. I’m not friends with them anymore because we got in silly arguments but because of them I’m who I am today and I’m comfortable with who I am. I don’t feel the need to fit in so bad because I do fit in somewhere, just not the place I imagined id fit in when I was a kid.

I think this quote means be yourself and don't be afraid of anything you believe in. Everyone has different taste in things, there's no reason to judge. For example, when it comes to music I like country. A lot of my friends don't like it at all but they don't have a problem with me liking it. But some other people say I shouldn't like it because its dumb. The people that put you down don't matter and aren't your real friends. On the other hand, the ones that care matter the most and they wont bring you down because they are your real friends. There are so many reasons why kids today are so scared to say how they feel or what they like because they are afraid to see or hear what the other person might say. This goes along the lines of bullying, and its not fair for kids to have to deal with it. Let everyone be who they are without having people say rude things about it and then things would be a lot better not only for kids but adults too.

DeleteThis quote can relate to my life in many ways but mainly relating to music. My friend Anna and I like two different performers. She likes a music group called Big Time Rush and I like a singer named Justin Bieber. We would tease each other saying that one is better than the other. Sometimes we would even get other people telling us that they are not cool and they would ask why we like them. Some of the comments could be really hurtful at times but they do not change the way well feel about them. A lot of the time people would have to defend a person that they admire if they were to make a bad choice and it seems to happen a lot nowadays. In my opinion, people should just be themselves and be what makes them happy and not what makes others happy.

The people that actually matter shouldn’t care who you are inside because they like you unconditionally. An event in my life this relates to is when I wasn’t really seen as liked back when I was younger. I didn’t have many friends because of the way I acted. I was insanely quiet and unsocial and it caused people to avoid me at all costs, but luckily the people that mattered stayed by my side during the whole experience. Sadly, I was still avoided because of the friends I had. It was unfair because the people who avoided my group of friends and I thought that they were better than us, but today they beg for our friendship and loyalty. One of my friends experienced the same thing, and today she is seen as something I’m not. She changed herself into something she’s not for the attention and satisfactory from others, leaving me and my friends behind. Her new friends don’t matter as much as we do, we didn’t mind how she was, unlike them. Hopefully she’ll learn that soon before things go wrong.

You have to be your own person, and the friends who are there for you shouldn’t judge you. They should respect you for who you are, and the friends that tell you you’re ugly, fat , annoying , don’t matter in your life. I can relate to this quote in a couple of ways. When I was in elementary school, I had a lot of friends but then they started turning on me. They started talking about me behind my back and telling things to people that aren’t true. Now, see I trusted them and then I completely lost trust in them because I knew they weren’t a true friend to me. Some people didn’t like the sports I do, and I do many sports I am very active. One of my main sports I really liked was competition cheer. People consider cheerleaders to be “gross” and I’m not like that, I liked the sport because I liked tumbling. They automatically assumed I wasn’t going to talk to them anymore so they stopped talking to me. So I realized that they weren’t my true friends. That’s why I really like this quote because it helps you understand what the meaning of friend ship is.

You're completely right about having to be your own person, no matter what anybody says because that's the only way you'll find your real friends. If someone doesn't like who you are or your personality, that's their problem. Your real friends are the people who don't mind the way you are. They love you for who you are. This quote can relate to my life because when I was younger, I was always considered the weird girl of the class. I learned to except the way I was, and after that I made many friends and all accepted me for who I am. I know a lot of other people who can relate to this quote too. Each and every one them has there own unique personality. They created their own path instead of following the crowd. That takes courage and those people have a ton of it. Don't ever change who you are for someone else, you are a unique person with value that has nothing to do with others approval. You are strong, beautiful and confident. You don't need anyone to be telling you otherwise. As long as your nice to others and you be yourself, you really don't have to be with the "in crowd" to be popular.

What ever you do, in the end it will be for you so do what you want not what other people want you to do. If people don't like you for what you do then too bad. This happens everyday in our school. There are different "Social Groups" and in these groups the people act the same, they wear the same style shoes or clothes or like the same things. I personally don't do things to impress other people. I am just myself and do what I like all of the time. If someone does not like who I am then they can take a hike. People should want to be your friend if they like how you act and how you treat them. Not if you have nice things do what they do. You should not change who you are for someone else to like you. Stay who you are.

In my perspective, this quote meant that you should always be who you are and not care what people think about you. If someone judges you based off of what they say, they don't matter. And by "they don't matter" I mean that they aren't your true friends. Your true friends are the ones who stick with you no matter what. The ones who don't mind you making small mistakes, because everyone does it. This quote relates to me in many ways. I have once had a very close friend of mine who I lost due to judging. I said one little thing, and it really proved how she wasn't a true friend. Of course it was heartbreaking at first, but I had to move on and I know that it was for the best. It really does show that the ones who mind what you say are not the ones you want to keep in your life. You should be able to be who you are in front of people and if they mind, then all you say is bye. Therefor, I feel that this quote means that the ones who judge you are not the ones who deserve to stay in your life.

Everybody makes mistakes and it is bad that that is what people are described as, by the mistakes they make. Anyone that judges you is not your true friend. It is sad that you lost a friend because of one little mistake but it is good to find out who your true friends really are. Your comment was really well written and i agree 100 percent.

One of the ways i think this quote means is that people who matter so much on there opinion and themselves in general "don't matter". When i say "don't matter" i mean that no one will remember you if your not being you!Another way i see this quote is that people try and hide themselves from other people because there afraid of embarrassment. I agree with Dr. Seuss on this quote because you don't want to be remembered as the shy guy, but you want to be known for you.I also disagree with this quote because i get how embarrassing it must be to be laughed at for being you because you can never change who you are you can only hide who you are. I think that if those people were really his friends they wouldn not have mind the way his parents are.
