Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
*That do you think this quote means?

*How does it relate to an experience in your own life?

  1. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I think this qoute means that if you follow someone else, or a group, they may lead you into trouble, so go your separate ways of them, and do your own things. If you do break off from the group, where there is potentially trouble, do greater and more intellectual things, because you will make a better trail that is successful and everyone will want to follow you. This is probably the best qoute I have ever read.I believe this because it's not just a qoute we are reading, It's a life lesson! For example, if you have friends that are always getting in trouble with the law, and you just happen to be in the group at that time, then you get arrested, then that teaches you a life lesson not to hang out with the wrong people.
This qoute relates to me. One way is because I had this one friend who was always getting me into trouble. For instence, one time she was copying off my paper when I didn't notice and I'm the one who got a zero!! One day at the lunch table, she was throwing things and screaming, and I got in trouble when she went to the bathroom and the principle came over. This happened for a whole year. The next year, I told her we couldn't be friends anymore and that I had to focus on school, and not get in trouble for anymore things I didn't do. Since I'm not friends with her anymore, I have made a new trail that consists of A's and B's, and many honor rolls. This made my old friend want to follow my footsteps, and now we are both getting honor roll almost every marking period. So, this qoute relates to me because I left my friend, get better grades, and taught her how to be a better person when going down the right trail.

    1. Hey carlie, your opinion on what the quote means is 100% accurate. I totally agree with what you said about specific groups leading you into trouble. Especially in high school, getting involved with the wrong groups could be dangerous. I also agree with you when you said "go your own way and do your own things" because you'll never really know how strong and capable you are until your left alone. Having friends is definitely important, but if they are always getting you into trouble they aren't real friends. I agree and can relate to how you related the quote to yourself. There's always going to be people in life who just don't know when to stop, and sometimes its better to get away from the negativity and look for people who actually care about you. Your blog entry this week was outstanding; and I loved all the angels you related from. <3

  2. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." In my opinion this quote could mean a lot of things. To me this quote means don't be a follower. Don't do things other people do because it's "cool" or "everyone is doing it." Do what you think is right, and be your own person. This quote could also mean make your own destiny! By that I mean do thing that haven't been done before, do the things that make you happy, make your own decisions. Don't do things that you will regret later. You can set an example for other people, wear your heart on your sleeve because if you go through life as a follower you will regret all the things you haven't done. You cant be afraid to walk this world alone. The quote "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." can relate to me from several different prospective. One way this quote relates to me is because I have a really bad past, and I was alone for a long time. It was a constant fight, that made me realize how strong I was. This quote relates to me because instead of going to people I used my own experience to help other teens that were going through the same type of mindset. They tell me that I saved there lives, Or that they gave up there addiction because of me. I'm leaving a pathway of hope for the ones that just need to know that they are loved. This quote actually is a huge part of my life. Sometimes in life you have to be alone to learn all that you are capable of. This quote also relates to me because all my life I have been a leader. I don't follow other people. I am independent, I stand up for myself, and believe in what I want to believe. I'm not afraid to go through life alone because as a kid my dad taught me to always prepare for the worst. My final reason why this quote relates to me is because I don't let anyone make decisions for me. I don't wear things just cause its the new "trend." this quote "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." by Ralph Waldo is definitely easy to relate to. I believe everyone has there OWN destiny. So many people are trying to be something there not in this world. Do you realize that their is only one you? No one else could ever be you and by copying and following someone else is a waste of who you are. You need to find yourself because no one else can do that for you. This quote is definitely a remarkable one, that can relate to everyone's life in at least a thousand ways.

I love how you said that everyone has their own destiny. Plus, it's true what you said, so many people try to be something that they're not. Great job and have an awesome day!

  4. A man once said, "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." His name was Ralph Waldo Emerson. This quote could possibly mean many things to many people. However to me this quote means that you should not be a follower, you should always be a leader. You should always be your own person. If you were to follow a group or even just one person, you could be led to trouble. Just because they may seem cool doesn’t mean they are good people, they can lead you to do bad things. You should not do something because other people are doing it or because it may seem “cool”. You should do something because you think it is the right thing.
This quote relates to me when I was younger. When I was younger, I had a group of friends. I have been friends with these people for quite a long time but they started to change but I had not really noticed that at the time. I would follow almost everything that they did and now I realize that I should not have done that. For example, if they were mean to people, I would be mean to people. If they wore a certain type of clothing, I would try to wear the same thing. I realized that i was not being myself anymore, so I stopped being friends with them. It was not that easy then because I have been friends with them for such a long time but I knew that it was the best thing to do. I had more friends that I became closer with and I became myself again. Now I know that I always have to be myself and do what makes me happy and not worry what anybody else thinks of me. I am my own person and nobody can change that.

  5. “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” I think this quote means to be your own person and don’t follow anybody else. Be a leader not a follower, let other people do what you do, set an example. Also, I think this quote means to do what you think is right because eventually it can lead you the right way in life. I’m sure this quote can relate to anyone and it can help people realize that they shouldn’t follow anyone. This quote relates to my life because I am involved in a bunch of sports and activities and some of my friends don’t. I am very active and I like to go my own way. I don’t follow what my friends do just because I want to hang out with them or I want to look “cool”. You should always do what your heart feels and maybe sometimes see if you can interest somebody else in what you do. Another reason why this quote relates to me is, I don’t let other people control my life, I don’t let other people make decisions for me. I do the things that make me happy and if my friends don’t want to do sport that’s completely fine! Go with what your heart feels; don’t just copy me because I do it. This quote is definitely a fantastic quote and I’m positive every person in this world can relate to this quote.

    1. Lillian, I really love your blog entry this week. I completely agree with everything you said and I'm glad you have no problem being yourself, because that's all that matters! I also believe looking "cool" is the most ridiculous concept ever. You should never let anybody control you or control your decisions in any way, shape or form. You're doing great being yourself, I'm happy for you!

  6. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I believe this quote has quite an amazing meaning. It means to never follow the crowd. Do what you want to do, not what everyone else is doing. It's better to be a leader than a follower, the only thing you should be following is your heart. Make your own choices. This quote can relate to my life in many ways. One way is that when I was younger there were many people I knew who followed the crowd. I didn't really do that, I chose to be myself. Sometimes I would get made fun of because of who I was. I was definitely a lot different than the other kids in my class. There were also other people in my life who also took their own paths. This quote also means that we shouldn't let our insecurities get the better of us, because if we do, we won't see good it feels to act like yourself. If you be yourself it will feel so much better than if you stay with the crowd. Each and every one of us can find who we are and create our own path to take. Don't take someone else's path cause trust me, you will end up doing something that you're going to regret someday in the future.

  7. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I believe this quote's meaning is extremely strong and everybody should relate to it in at least one way. I believe it means to not follow anybody but yourself, to take the road less traveled. It is much easier to follow your friends, but a lot better to follow yourself; your heart. I believe you should never, ever let anybody else tell you who you are, or where to go because the only person who can truly guide you in the right direction; is you. You choose where you end up in life, not anybody else could make that decision for you. I relate to this quote in many ways. To be completely honest, some of my old friends did not care about their grades whatsoever. In the beginning of the year (sixth grade) I began to follow what they were doing and try extremely hard to not care about my school work. I realized quickly that I was headed in the wrong direction and turned everything around as quickly as possible, I could have gotten myself in trouble. Following your heart will only be determined by your effort, and the way you feel about what you're doing. If you do everything that the crowd is doing, you will possibly end up in trouble, or end up losing the person you really are. Everything depends on the way YOU feel and the way YOU decide to portray yourself. Nobody else is able to control you and I truly believe this quote is one of the most important meanings in life.

    2. Mia, I completely agree with you in how you said that nobody should tell you who you are and where to go. We have to be our own person, also I'm happy that you realized that you shouldn't follow what other people do with their grades. If you want to succeed in life you have to succeed in your school years. I'm happy that your back in school and that your working hard and not following the "crowd" . Anyway, nice job with this weeks blog ! Its great!

  8. Often nowadays, everyone is following the same footsteps. Like when it snows two feet, and you walk in the footsteps someone in front of you took because it’s just easier than lifting your leg higher and making your own. Were used to going the easy way, the way we know others would approve of. Ralph Waldo Emerson was an essayist from the 1800s, in the near 80 years he lived; he once said “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” I honestly think this is another cliché quote about being different, like “Follow the path less travelled.” I can relate this quote to my own life because I try hard to be different from others. Not many like my colored hair, but I knew that was going to happen. I’ve heard a thousand times that someone liked it better as a natural color but I just want to stand out and worry about making myself happy instead of others. That’s usually what everyone is worried about, everyone else. Instead of doing their own thing everyone is doing everyone else’s thing. Now that were this age, were also more worried about what the opposite sex thinks of us and literally do anything to impress them even if it’s something were not into. I was considering dying my hair back to normal because out of all the people who didn’t like my hair they were mostly guys, but I thought about it and realized that’s ridiculous.

  9. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." This quote means don't follow what everyone else is doing, do something different. Once you do something different everyone will see it, and that will get people’s attention. It’s not about trying to fit in because that never works. You just have to be yourself and let people see it. For example, on the first day of school I wanted to fit in with a lot of the people, but by the end of the day I realized it wasn’t going to work. So the next day I went in myself and made some new friends. A lot of people don’t like when they see someone doing what they do. But others might like the attention they are getting. There are many different ways you can go out this quote, but I go about the obvious parts. Also if one of yours friends does something bad and you get into it then you’re just “going into that path.” Who cares what people think what you do different. This is because at the end of the day they will realize it’s better to make your “own trail.” This quote can say so much about a person’s action. To see if they are ready for the real world because when you get a job you can’t follow what he person next to you in doing. That will get you fired. This quote is amazing for people that are doing the opposite.

  10. What I think the quote “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail" by Ralph Waldo Emerson means is you should do your own thing and not follow other people. If you do what everyone else does nobody will notice because it is normal but if you do something great that no one has done before people will definitely notice it. If you do something different people might see it and like what you do and start to follow your path. Sometimes it is better to make your own choices then to pick something already there for you. Be brave and take risks on doing new things. A lot of people do thinks to fit in or because other people do them but they are people just the same. You should want to be different than every body else because that is what people look for. You should do something unique with yourself. How this quote relates to me is because I make most of my decisions myself. Some have been good and some have been bad. I do what makes me happy because everything i am doing is going to be for me. later in your life having a job working at a fast food place or at at restaurant is nothing special but if you take another path and create something people will always look at you as someone much better. That is what I think this quote means.

  11. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." This quote may be perceived in many different ways. In my opinion, this quote means to go above and beyond what everyone else is doing. If you see someone else drawing a square, draw two squares and add some color. This quote also means to be a leader and not be a follower. It means to not do what everyone else is doing, and do your own thing. You shouldn't be scared or worried about that people think about you. If you go ahead and start your own "style" or a new thing, you would be surprised on how many people follow you and love your new style. Besides, someone is bound to like you for YOU. Being yourself is the key to having close friends and friendships. This quote relates to the real world in many ways also. For examples, you will RARELY if not then NEVER see a professional NFL football player following another football player. They each go their own way and that's their road to success. This quote also related to my own personal life experiences. Going into high school I was always so worried about what people were wearing so that I could just match them. Then I realized that it doesn't matter what everyone is wearing, I should just go by what I like, not what everyone else likes. After I went by my own style, I got many compliments and I realized I don't need to follow anyone.

  12. Ralph Waldo Emerson said " Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I think this means that don't follow the crowd and be yourself. Everyone tries to fit in with everyone else and you become a person you don't want to be. There is nothing special about being the same as everyone else. Do what makes you happy. For example, if everyone is buying expensive shoes because they think it looks better doesn't mean you have to do it too. Being different means you're special instead of being the same as everyone else. I can relate this quote to myself by I notice that everyone wants to fit in. The majority of the people want to be popular and fit in with the "cool kids". I don't mind not being popular because of those people will leave you someday. We all lose friends and make new ones. Being the center of attention isn't that great either. Having people talk to you just because you're popular. I just like to be myself. I rather have 2 friends that will actually be there when I need them then having many fake friends. Also lots of them can lead you to trouble. It could lead to peer pressure and might end up doing something that you don't want to. This is a smart quote said by Ralph Waldo Emerson. This is how I can relate this quote to myself.

  13. “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Ralph Waldo Emerson once said. This quote could mean several things depending on how you view it. I view it as that don’t depend on people’s outcomes, or what they insist on. I think it means, rather than following someone else’s already made path. You should choose where you’d go and make your own path for others to follow. It’s your choice and it probably is the better option. Making your own choices is a huge part of life, and if you depend on someone else’s choices you’ll end up in some dilemmas. This quote relates to my life because when I was in middle school, people insisted that I followed another’s path, when in reality our paths intersected. I was my own person completely and I created my own path. The person continued to criticize mine and several other people’s paths, yet they joined all of our paths. Now the person is left with what they choose, leaving them unhappy. I chose my own path, my destiny. As what Ralph Waldo Emerson said “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” He means to be your own person, rather than what others want you to be. The outcome may not be as wonderful as it seems. There is definite proof that your choice is the best one.

  14. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” In my opinion this quote means don't follow everyone else. If you follow someone or a group you don't know what trouble you're getting yourself into. Separate yourself, be your own person. Being yourself you fit into your crowd of people, you will do better in school and have a less of chance of getting sucked into trouble. Creating your own path can lead to a bright future instead of following down the wrong path.
This can relate to an experience in my life. There was a time were a group of my friends all wanted to go to a party because the cool kids were going. Everyone was following each other and going down the same path. I told them i didn't want to, i'm going to have a different plan for the weekend. i created my own plath and i had plenty of fun doing what i wanted to do. Everyone else however ended up going to the party. The party had liquor and drugs and was getting out of hand. the police ended up being called and a lot of people got arrested. They followed the path and it lead to a lot of trouble. I created my own path and stayed out of trouble and still had fun. Everyone else followed down the wrong path and got arrested.
