The Quote “You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take” by Wayne Gretzky means that if you don’t try you will never succeed. If you don’t talk any chances you will always fail, you must try and put forth the effort in order go places in life. You must try and work to get what you need accomplish. You must try hard in order to succeed and make meaning in your life. If we give 100% we will get 100% out of it, the amount of work you get will help you in the long run. You got to work hard in order to get great opportunities for yourself!
ReplyDeleteThis quote can relate to me because in order for me to be successful in life I have to work and give 100%. A time when this quote applied to my life was when I was upset and stopped functioning I missed so many chances to do well. My dog died and I know it sounds stupid but it was just my breaking point so many bad things happened before that. I thought life was over there was no point in living because any thing that happened was bad. I missed so many great thing like getting good grade and hanging out with friends , I was like this for moths. I almost failed and I had trouble catching up.
I agree that if you don't take any chances at all that you will never succeed.You have to make the effort and give 100% you will never succeed. You have to do the work and want it with all your heart and soul or you will never get it.On the other hand, if you don't put your heart into it and you never try,you will always fail and never make it.

DeleteI think it means that if you dont take a chance you wont know if you will acheave or not like if Mike Jordan didnt try out for the high school basket ball team and was told he was to short so he learned from that and he practiced and practiced to get better and he did. So something bad happening to you now could fule you in the future and help you want to acheve it more. Like when Batmans parents were killed he vowed to avenge them and protect this from happening to anyone else. So if your in that prodicamint thinking i dont know if i should join that club or that sport just join whats to lose if you dont like it then quite. Dont be like me i dont join thiings because i just get soooo nervouse that i dont join and never find out if i like it or not but iam trying to vhange that and im going to try out for the swim team and im going to join ocean club because it has to do with nature and helping the enviornment. I think that people these days just get really scared and give up because some places make geting a job to hard or any thing on making a team or joining a club. This relates to me because when i fail a test i try harder and harder on the next test and succeed and i still tried. Also when iI tried out for the basketball team i 7th grade and I didn't make it but the next year I made it because I tried again and never gave up. DeleteThis quote has a special meaning to it. The meaning is that when you have the chance to succeed you take that shot. And if you don't succeed then try again. It will be hard but at the end taking those shots you will be one step closer to you succeeding. And those shots you don't take those are the steps you are missing out on being successful. So every time you have those shots you take them. And every time you have these shots you give in 100% of your hard work. You have to be dedicated to this. Because every time you miss a shot you think a minute on what you did wrong,and you redo it again till you feel like you did not do that mistake. And the. You keep moving forward until you are successful. I can relate this to my life because when I started to do soccer, I didn't start to put in hard work and now I want to go back in time to start fresh. And that was my chance to that I missed to become better. And now I put in the hard work that I need to be better. And to me it's not to late, because I made his mistake for not putting in hard work now it's my turn to do it my self. ReplyDeleteI agree with you Tony. Even if your playing soccer or any other sport and your doing bad don't quit try again. If you quit than think why did u start this in the first place then get back up and try again. Every time you see improvement you are 1 step closer to reaching your goal.

A example could be is if your struggling on a math problem in school. If you do not even try to answer the problem you are going to fail it but if you try you may get it right. Another example could be if your on a basketball team, if you don't even try to make a basket your not going to be any help to the team and your probably going to be benched because you don't even try. If you try you may actually be able to go out onto the court and be helpful to your team and make baskets. I can relate this quote to my life because when i was in the fifth grade i was failing a lot in school and having a lot of trouble the reason was because I wasn't trying I instantly assumed I could not do this math problem or i can't be be good in this subject so i never really tried. I ended up having to get home schooled and i was lucky to pass for the year. Looking back on it know i released if I tried I may of actually not of had to be homeschooled and i may of passed with A's instead of D's. ReplyDeleteI agree with Nick points because if I you don’t try to do something like participating in a game, or even I school , you will fail. If you don’t take changes like going out for a club at school or going out for a sport you will not get in without doing anything. A really good example Nick put was if you are struggling on a math problem try to answer the question, because if you don’t answer it is a 100% change you will get it wrong. If you answer it you will have a better chance of getting the right answer especially, in multiple choice questions. Answering a multiple choice question gives you a one in four chances of getting the right answer. The hardest thing in life sometimes is facing our fears, taking a risk, and trying hard. However that is the only way to succeed.

ReplyDeleteI agree that this quote means that you have to put forth an effort to accomplish something and I also think the examples you used are both true and something everyone can relate to. If someone doesn't put forth the right effort, then nothing would ever get done for you or anyone else.

Even if you are not good at a sport/activity, the least you can do is try. If you dont try at all, you will miss every chance to do something no matter what. I can relate to this the time i first time i started playing basketball. At first I admit i was terrible, couldn't or dribble at all. I got angry that I felt like quitting. Through all that though i didn't quit and kept trying and eventually got better. Now i am able to shoot and dribble much better than before and all it took was some practice. Now that I am better, every time people ask me to play im confident that i will do much better than i used to. Never think your not good enough to try something because you will never find out if you do. All in all, with enough effort, courage, and passion for something, you can do it anything is possible. This is what "You will miss 100% of the shots you dont take." means to me and how I have used it to help me reach my goals

What I think Wayne Gretzky's quote “You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take” means is that as long as you don't try, even in the slightest way, if you dont try at all when you receive chances, no matter what you will fail, because you put no effort in towards it to succeed.
if you break it down, even slightly, it might make it a little more clearer for anyone to understand it, even a little more clearly, for example what 100 percent means is that their is exactly no room for other pecentage it's just one part of something, verses two whole parts, it is just one, piece out of a fraction of percent.
Next what I am going to talk about is when he says shots, what i think he means by that is about the "chances" or the "actions you would possibly take, even if you don't take these actions, chances or shots, you will miss out and therefore fail, screw up, or mess up, etc..
Now this was my break down of Wayne Gretzky's quote “You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take" I hope that what I wrote wasn't to difficult for you to underdstand or to confusing.
"You will miss the 100% shots you don't take -Wayne Gretzkys" This is a very smart quote. It has lots of meanings in it. The key part is explaining to never not try something. In life a lot of tasks will be thrown at you. They might be scary too. But what Waynes trying to explain is, don't be scared. You will never know if your god at something, unless you try. Being scared is just a way of getting out of things. Its no excuse not to try though. Who knows. The one thing your scared of might be your favorite thing in the world, after you try it. For example, In the book the help, the slaves were scared to tell skeeter their stories so that she could write them. But they did it and it turned out great. The main lesson is to let loose and try new things. You never know if your going to like it or not. This can relate to my life a lot. It relates to so many things, but mostly cheer. When I came onto the cheer team I was so scared. I almost quit and did not want to even try the stunts they were making me do, but I tried it. And now I could do them. With just a little practice and learning, I defiantly didn't miss the shots I had to take.

ReplyDeleteWhat I think Wayne Gretzky 's quote " You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take" means is you gotta take risks. If you don't take any shots and risks than nothing will happen. You will stay the same and won't get any better or different if you do not take those shots. I also think this quote means that how are you speed to get a better job or put you're name out there without taking those shots or risks. This quote relays to me by baseball my team was down one to zero. I was on second base and my coach said steal 3rd if you can make it. First I hesitated but then I realized we need to score so we can tie this game up. So the next porch I some the base and the catcher threw it over the 3rd base man's head and I ran home to tie the game. Then the next Batter hit a home run. Another example is when I was in a soccer game. When I was in this soccer it was a tie game and I knew I had to score because the game was almost over and and so I got the ball and then I went into the box and got fouled and then then scored the game winning goal.

The quotes key part is, if you don't try or put effort in, you will get nothing back in return. I think this quote means, if you don't risk anything you will get nothing in return, and the more you put in, the more you get out. These are words to life by, they will always help you out in the long run. Since I've read this quote I look at the world differently now.
ReplyDeleteThis quote relates to me, by my 7th grade year. In 7th grade my parents got a divorce, I moved and change schools, and my dog died. I gave up, I didn't care about school, what people expected of me, and what others thought of me. I failed language arts that year and passed every other class by the skin of my teeth. I was lucky that year, I had a nice guidance counselor and great teachers. I've worked at improving my responsibility, study habits, and mind set about school since then.
I can also relate this quote to my peers by, in elementary school our math books use input-output boxes. The more you put in the more you got out.

I remember this time in our lives this was a hard time for both of us and we got past ,together. As long as you and me got each other we will be okay. By not taking those shots you would miss out on a lot! Wayne Gretzky, is a professional hockey player and he lives by this quote every single day. When he misses a shot he just try's again. What if he just gave up, he would loose his whole life. That's his job, being good at what he does. This quote can relate to me with volleyball. All my life I've only done cheer, and trying volleyball for the first time ever was a shot I had to take. If I failed I would keep trying because you never know what could've happened! But I was actually pretty good at it so I got lucky by taking a shot and going for it!

The more and more you take a shot the better chance of it going in. Better chance in succeeding in whatever it is you're doing. The more you challenge yourself the better it will be in te future. For every shot you don't take is just a chance that If You actually took that shot you would have made it. Never stop trying If you stop trying you never know when you can progress and get better at what you do. Never not take that shot if you're wide open pull up and take the shot! You never know what could happen. In the end everything will benefit you the hard work will pay off. This is how I interpreted this quote.

It tells you that you shouldnt be afraid to answer a question in class because you think that you will get it wrong. If you dont say anything you wont know if you are right or not. If you dont try out new sports or activities how will you now what you like. Or what intrests you. You will also never learn anything new from not asking questions. Most kids think that they will get made fun of if they get the question wrong but you wont you will just be learning something new. This quote relates to me by im always in school and noone is asking any questions. So when the teacher askes if any one has any questions no one says anything or ask anything. I think this is the meaning of the quote because in hockey if you dont ever take a shot, you will never score and that is how the quote ties in with school and and sports at the same time.

Sports and school have a lot to do about mind set, a mind set is how you think of yourself while doing something. If you always think you are terrible at what you do and you dont compete you will never succeed. Having a positive mind set about somthing always gives you an upper-hand on activities that you do because it gives you the confidence. Another example of this is in basketball if you dont ever take a shot you will never win.
To sum it up, this quote is telling us to take risks and not think down apon yourself. taking a shot and missing is better then not taking the shot and having the other team just steal it from you and take endless shots.

In continuation, this quote also applies to experiences in my life as well, it applies to me because if I never tried out sports and other activities, I would not be the person I am today and I am proud of what I have become just by playing sports and taking chances. I think this quote means that if you don't put forth the appropriate amount of effort, nothing will ever get done for yourself. If you don't try to do something, how do you expect anything to get done for yourself? It wold be very hard to do something that you don't try to do. For example, if a kid wants to play an instrument, they have to practice at it.You can't expect to get any better at something that you don't pursue at on a daily basis. This quote means that people aren't going to just hand you things in life. You are going to have to go out and earn them yourself. If you want to do well on a test, you have to take it upon yourself to study because nobody is going to spoon-feed you the information that is going to presented to you on the test. I think the quote "You will miss 100%of the shots you don't take" could mean a number of different things. But no matter how you see it, it is still something to live by.

This quote, made by ice hockey star Wayne Gretzky, means that unless you take a chance and try you will never achieve anything. If you do not attempt anything, you cannot ever grow, or improve, or succeed.
The quote has meaning for me because at times certain things, like writing, can be very difficult for me. Yet I have dreams for my life that involve college and graduate school, having a successful career and family life. When I am faced with something new I try to find the courage to keep on trying every single day. I also try to focus on people, attitudes, and actions that will support my dreams, and I try to support others as well. It is very hard to take risks and keep trying even if you fail or are afraid, or the situation is challenging. Win or lose, succeed or have a set back, I think that the most important thing is to take the chance and keep on going. If we let fear stop us from taking our "shot", then we stop growing, miss out on a lot of joy, and become stuck in the same place.
