"Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." these wise words were once stated by a man that goes by the name of Ralph Waldo Emerson. I think what Ralph Emerson was getting at when he stated this was to not be a follower but be a leader. He meant to not follow someone because everyone else is. Do it differently. This relates to me in many ways. Everyone always wants to take the easy way out and learn nothing but instead I will try something new and not follow everyone else or be a follower. For example if there’s a set method to something I will not just use that method, I will try something new, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t but you still aren’t being a follower. Another example is some people believe having the same batting stance as a major leaguer will help you. I don’t believe in that and have my own batting stance. It works for me and I have yet to see any problems with it so some of my peers have asked me what changes they should make. Most of the time taking your own path at something will lead to more success than following someone else’s path. I think what Ralph Waldo Emerson is getting at is to not be a follower but be a leader and take your own path, don’t copy someone else’s.

By not following others and, going down your own path. Leaving a mark to show that you are independent, can inspire others. Not only to go on there own path but to not follow what others are doing. Not getting peer-pressured into things that you may not wanna do. Which leads into how i can relate it to my life. While being in highschool people are gonna ask you to do things you may not think is right. Rather then doing what they tell you, turn your own way do what you think is right. Make your own path! Just becuase you think that everyone will hate you if you dont follow everyone else. It is not true! Making your own path, can inspire others to do the same. Not to follow the crowd, but to stand out by doing your own thing. In a way, this will help you in the long run! With college you need to know how to make decisions because you dont have parents helping you. Its all on you. You need to learn that sutdying, rather than going out, will help you in the future. Taking your own path, rather then following others. Will help you out, and may help others.

No one can tell you who you are and who you can be . No one can stop you from being yourself unless you let them. Its important not to follow the crowd,friends,family or sterotypes. This is because the world is our playground! We have to keep in touch with who you are and what you want to be and not what other people expect of you and want from you. The only person you should have ton be worried about judging you is yourself. For example, in highschool sometimes your friends expect you to dislike and like certain people or dress or even act a certain way.They put sufficating boundraies on you,but the minute you don't follow their expectations and start following your own,you will make your own path and maybe inspire others to do that same.

I think this quote means that although it may be easier to follow a path that has been well-worn, it is important to seek out new directions in life and not to be afraid as you do. Emerson is saying that we should have the courage to follow your own path in life and by doing this, you might inspire others to do the same thing.
ReplyDeleteIn life, if you follow others blindly, against what you know is right for you, you may find yourself regretting the journey, and/ or in bad company. Daring to choose your own path can be scary and difficult because you never know if the outcome will be good or bad and it is sometimes a lonely trip.
An example for me is my love of martial arts. I spend six to eight hours a week practicing mixed martial arts and I do enjoy the workout. But, this path takes me away from school sports and none of my friends are in the classes. For me MMA is the right choice and keeps me fit and strong. I feel it is important to step out of the box, try to leave your mark in the world, and choose opportunities that make sense for you as an individual.
I agree with you in that you should not take a path that is well-worn. I think if you take a path that's well-worn it will lead you to were the rest of society is and you wont be any different then anyone else. I also think its important to seek out new directions in life because who knows were they lead it could be good or bad. It means you should do something different and unique. If you do something different and unique people will likely start to follow your trail. An Example of this would be a company like Yahoo. The founders of Yahoo saw the internet and said we should do something with this to make it easier for people to find the things there looking for. Then they created the search engine which was new and unique. Then other companys started to follow such as Google Aol Bing etc. Another company to do something like this was Nintendo. Nintendo started off as a card company back in the 1800's they then completely changed course in the 1980's and stared coming out with brand things called video games. Video games were very unpopular in most of the world other then Japan at this time period. The reason being was because in order to play video games you had to go to a arcade. Nintendo changed that in creating a very new and unique system called the NES or the Nintendo Entertainment system. Which was the first ever home console. Not only did Nintendo create a brand new way to play games they actually had great games to play on it. Which was another thing arcades in the 1980's were missing. The only game that was considered good back then was Pac-man. Nintendo created unique franchises and characters that are known world wide such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pokemon and more. Soon Many other companys followed Nintendo's trail such as Sega Microsoft and Sony. There are also other people that created there own path such as Ben Franklin who invented the light bulb and Issac Newton who discovered gravity.
ReplyDeleteI can relate this quote to my life because when i was younger i always tried to do stuff different then everyone else. I tried to figure out new ways to do things such as play video games with only using two buttons or new ways to turn on the computer without my hand touching the power button. Even though i usually failed at everything i tried to do different I at least tried to be different and not follow the crowd.

DeleteI totally agree with your point, that you shouldn’t follow the crowd and you should do something different and unique because you can learn different things and some people will follow your new path. Also people will respect you for your ability to change and be different. Plus if you continue to follow a path that is well worn you would be at the same level as the rest of society and you wouldn’t get anywhere and it will slow society down like the capability to make inventions, find cures and etc. Another thing I like was when you used Yahoo! And Nintendo as examples because it is very true that companies like Google and Microsoft( who invented Xbox) all followed them and made the internet and video games a big part of a person’s life today. DeleteI feel the qoute means that dont follow the crowd be your self. Dont be a follower be a leader like me i like who iam a im proud of the persson im becoming and i dont want to fit in i want to stick out i want to be that guy you can pick out of the crowd and tell that im diffrent. I like my style i love being diffrent. Life is what you make it you just keep pushing folward even when times are rough your friends and family will help you and you could tell if a person is your friend or not. What i dont understand is peoples reasons in being deprest and shy the only way people get to know you is if you talk to them or express your self and what others think dosent mader its what you think. People should just think of the goood not the bad because theres always a reson to be happy. Like me im almost always happy because i have amazing friends and family and im alive and healthy so why cant i live every day with a smile and act crazy and funny. Thats why i like the joker hes always smiling and making jokes his qoutes are really good to like WHY SO SERIOUS, or LETS PUT A SMILE ON THAT FACE and i love this one if your good at something never do it for free. That basically means take your own path in your life, make you own decisions, set your own goals, and be different. Why would you live your life , living other people ways. That's why you are your own person. Make your own ambitions, and live your life they way you want it. For example, people in life will ask you to do stuff, and peer pressure you into doing bad things. So do what makes you comfortable and be yourself. This can relate to me in a lot of ways. One way was when my cousin told me all the bad stories , and bad things. She asked me if I wanted to do bad things, and I told her no because I didn't want to go down her path in life, I want to go on my path and my trail and make smart decisions. Not bad ones.

Be the one who goes and makes there own life choices not taking the easy way out. Find a new way to do something amazing or you will be like everyone else. Work had and you will be very successful but if you go on the path like everyone else you will just be a plain face. If you make a trial you will make mistakes or might not get there first you will still be successful because you made a difference, that’s all that matters. This is a very important life lesson.

One way it relates to me is when people are doing drugs and getting bad grade and I decide to not follow them but to make my own path and get good grades and not do drugs. I made my own path to be successful in my own way even though it is not popular it will benefit me in the future. Another example of this quote is in math. In math threw are so many ways to get the correct answers some are loner than others and take different steps but they all lead to the same place, success.
Today I am going to write to you about Ralph Waldo Emerson quote, the quote is "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." What I think he means by this is that you should not follow a set path that has been made to go a direct certain, what you should do instead is that you should make up your'e own path, that has never been explored, and that no one has ever seen that way before. Another way that it can be explained is that every body has already explored this path, that you are about to explore, which could possibly be used as a metaphore, for example that because, it has been explored, You would be a follower, and what Ralph Waldo Emerson probally means is that you should be a leader and set your'e own path, and not be a follower, but in turn be a leader! So what he is trying to say is do not take the set path, made by a follower, but actually instead take the path that was unexplored and become a leader!
ReplyDeleteFor example, in school some people can do dumb things, which can make them seem "cool" so other people may do this because they want to be "cool." and when they do that, it could means that they can be considered a leader. But the students would be considered the followers. if that made any sense.

DeleteWhat I think this mean sis that don't be a follower be you. Neve followe what people do be yourself there is no one that could ever compare to you. Filling people will get you no where in life. Being yourself means you are being 100% original. Never follow what your firends do. Like if they tell you to follow them and do drugs stand up for you self . Say no take a stand and stand up for yourself. If you follow some one then you can't be yourself then you aren't making a mark on anything. You are just being the same as everyone else . Make your own mark stand up for yourself. Following what other people think and or do isnt being yourself. Following people will get you nowhere in life. At the end of the day the only person who really is there go you is yourself. None of your friends that you followed are really there when in counts . Following people will make you beilve that you are t orginal sooner or later you will think that you are the same as everyone else when everyone is different. ReplyDeleteAnother meaning of the quote is to be a leader. it also means to be a leader because if you follow and do the same as everyone else (taking the same path) you will never accomplish or achive anything new or better then the next person.
One time every one in my class was basiclly doing the same project and everyone had a generic or basic idea and i came up with a very original idea for my layout and got the highest grade in the class. That is another way to relate to the quote, original ideas are better to witness then things that everyone is doing. Also a quote that ties into this is "Originality is the key to success." that quote means that if a song writer uses the same beat or words as another song it will be just as good. But really the most unique songs, projects, ideas and games are the best for todays people because if people were doing the same thing over and over again life would be boring.

I understand quote as meaning, don't follow in the footsteps of the person in front and always follow them like their your leader. You should be yourself and walk off on your own and maybe people will want to follow in your footsteps and become just as good as you are or you have become. Instead of following everyone else, follow your conscience.

This quote shares a meaning with my life because I'd like to become the person someone else would like to follow because they believe in what the other is doing. Even though this quote is based around trying to find your own path in life, sometimes you need another person to lean on and follow them a little bit like a boost to help you get where you're going. So, I'd like to be the person that everyone follows for a bit but then they branch off and finds their own path and ways to live. The moral is, you need to be able to find out who you are, even if it means you need to ask for help.

It means that do something different that what other people will do. Make a trail and let others follow and you be the leader. Because if you follow other people's paths you will end up doing something wrong and you will fail at what your trying to achieve. Because following a path is not always the right thing to do sometimes it's better to try something new everyday. Don't do what others do make it different from the beginning. Because it will get you farther in life. Many people just follow other people because they don't know what it's like trying something new. They are not used to being alone. So sometime change it up and you let other follow you but you got to always be the leader no matter what. It relates to my own life because once I had to train for soccer. I've seen so many players do there own workouts. And somewhere pretty good for physical activity for the game. Strength and fitness were the most important. So I did the same but did it with more intensity. I didn't follow what other did I did what I thought was right and I made it happen good. It also means to be your own leader in different ways. Also, it means be 100% of yourself and don't act differently and let others influence you. This relates to a experience in my life because I am 100% myself, and I know what path to take and not to take. When people tell me to do something bad, I know what is right from wrong. Additionally, when my friends tell me to not go to my games, I go because I know I am part of a team. My team relies on me to be there. Following a path you think is the right way will most likely just lead to trouble. You shouldnt be worried about what everybody else is doing, do what you want to do. When you follow no path, you are in fact creating your own. Most people think doing what everyone else does makes them cool, but this is completely false. By making your own decision and doing everything your way, you have just created your own path. Maybe some day, others will realize how amazing of a path you have, and following that trail instead of the one they are currently following. A life experience I had was when these sick new shoes came out. If you had them you were automatically cool. Lots of people didnt have them, so after seeing a few people wearing them, they went out and bought their own. As you can see, its likely they did this just to be "cool" like the other kids. What I did instead is where the shoes that I like myself. Honestly I didnt care what other people had, am I suppose to just hop on the bandwagon? People saw me wearing my style, and they were confused why I wouldnt get the new shoes. I responded stating "I do what I want." After people heard this they realized this to and everyone finally started wearing what they liked to wear again. You should never follow others because their cool, do what you think is best for yourself.
