Wayne Gretzky once said, "You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take." I personally think that this quote means that if you don't become active or try hard you will never reach your goals. Goals are important, you should always make them and try your very best to reach it. Like if you were to have a goal set on passing your class, you're not going to succeed unless you try your hardest. You have to do all the home work and classwork and make sure to participate and study too.
ReplyDeleteThis quote relates to me specifically to me because I always try to set goals for myself. Like in Eighth grade when I started field hockey. I was recommended by Ms. Brennon (aka Mrs. Vandewater) to play the next year in seventh grade. So I went in with high expectations from her. My goal was to get on A team.Thankfully I was really good and I worked really hard and she put me straight on the A team! I was a starter along with Rachel and we were right back buddies even though she played on the left, but that's because she was better on the left anyway (that's two of the defensive positions)! So with lots of hard work I finally reached my goal of getting on A team! My next goal is Varsity so hopefully with lots of hard work I'll get there in no time!
I believe your comment is very right by what Wayne Gretzky meant by "You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take." because of how you said it meant you had to give your hardest and you had to give dedication and you could accomplish anything if you try.

For example, if you want to be good at a sport, then you have to try your hardest in it or else you wont reach your goal. Also if you don't try, you will never get that chance back to achieve your goals. So it is very important in life to do your best in everything you do.
ReplyDeleteThis quote relates to me because i always try my hardest in school, so it doesn't affect me in the future for my career. Every night before a test I try my best to study so i could get a good grade. It really pays off to get good grades because I feel proud of myself once i get a good grade! It also feels like i accomplished something. Another experience in my life that relates to this quote is that I bowl twice a week. Every Sunday and Saturday I practice and keep on practicing till i get the hang of it. A few months ago i wasn't really good at bowling but when i tried my best I actually accomplished my goal to be good at it! In the winter i'm gonna join bowling in school! It is true that hard work pays off!

That you should always try, and see if you can succeed and if you dont try then you wouldnt know if you could ever do that one thing. For example, I was always scared of heights. One day i decided that i would try to see if i could ever get over my fear so i decided to jump off a bridge into and river. But i decided to whimp out because i was scared to ever do it and didnt know if i was ever cappable to do it. Then one day me and my friends went to that same bridge when we were hanging out and the challenge came back to jump off of it. After some convincing i finally decided to. When i finally did it i wonder why i never did it because it was so easy and i didnt know why i was scared this whole time. What this example was supposed to tell you was that if i had never done the jump then and didnt make that shot then i wouldnt have known and wouldve missed my shot knowing if i would or wouldnt have done it. Thats what i think Wayne Gretzky meant by “You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take."
ReplyDeleteI can relate to how you felt when you said you were afraid of heights. I used to be afraid of heights and I still am to this day. The way you were able to overcome your fear makes me feel the same way. I feel that should face my fear of heights. In other words, I agree with your response.

I think that it also explains how if we don't even try or that we don't care at all we are never going to succeed. For example to get to that place in life that u want to be you will have to try in order to get there. It also takes a lot of time and effort. So if your just being lazy or not caring you will never get to where you want to be.
ReplyDeleteThis relates to my life because I always was that person that didn’t want to do anything. I didn't care that I had bad grades. But now since I have seen the wrong of my ways I have been a lot better. I Think that my struggle was that I gave up to easily not caring or even thinking about what it cost me and how I could have done better. Just looking back at my past sickens me. So basically what I’m saying is if you don't try you will never succeed in life. I encourage people to try and if you don’t succeed don’t give up because eventually you will get up there. This Is what I think Wayne Gretzky’s quote means.

ReplyDeleteThis relates to my because I play the same sport Wayne Gretzky. So I know where this quote is coming from. In hockey if you don't try your best you wont be the best and when you play a competitive sport you need to be good or you wont be able to play. I know, when I was at tryouts for a travel team and I made the team but the people that didn't go 100% percent they didn't make the club. So what Wayne Gretzky was trying to say if you don't want to succeed in life you want. But if you try your hardest 100% you can do anything you want. So that is what I thing Wayne Gretzky is trying to say.

If you do not at least try, you will never succeed in you goal. If you do not take chances in life, then you will never get what you want. You never know what you're missing out on the chances you didn't wanna take. Even though you might fail in life, you should always at least try because if not you will miss out on all your chances. For example, when i started surfing i could comprehend the concept in the beginning. I tried my best each time I went out to catch waves and finally i caught on and became quite good. If I never took those chances and did not keep trying, my life would be different completely today. If I quit trying to get better at surfing, I would not be the person I am today. Another example is that if you do not try in school and do not go to college you never know what jobs you would have been able to get. You should never not try because you do not know how much it could effect your future. Going to school and college opens so many other doors you never knew you could have gone through, and that is why going to school and paying attention is very important for everyone.

What i think this quote means is that if you don’t take a chance at what you want in life, you will never achieve it. In other words, if you don’t try towards what you want to do in life, it’s never going to get you closer to it. If anything it will drag you back. That’s why you have to work towards your goal. You have to reach for what you believe in and what you want to do. That’s what I think Wayne Gretzky means.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to relate this to a moment that happened to me in my life, I would have to pick 7th grade basketball tryouts. I was really nervous about trying out. So nervous that I did not even show up on the first two days. I knew that if I did not try that it would not help to achieve what I wanted to do. So I went on the last day of tryouts. I tried my hardest to get a spot on the team. In the end, I did not get the spot, but at least I tried. I gave my shot at it and I did not give up. That is what I think Wayne Gretzky is trying to tell me.
Wayne Gretzky once said “You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take”. I think he means that you should take every shot you get because if you don’t you could of missed out on something big. For example, a lot of people like to play it safe and never take chances but I think Gretzky is saying to not play it safe and take a chance because it could affect you in the long run in a good way. ReplyDeleteThis quote relates to me by when I started middle school my cousin wanted me to join field hockey t first I didn’t want to but I said why not. Then joined and I found out i loved it and I had a blast doing it and its cause I took a chanced instead of just not trying it. Also, I’m always setting high standards for me myself because I want to keep improving and every chance i see i take it and don’t think twice about it cause i know it’ll make me a better person. For example, I set a goal for myself to get more involved in school and now I’m doing field hockey, joining the key club and the yearbook and running for a passion for my class. I’m also going to try and aim for straight A's.
I agree with your reply. I also think that if you don't take any chances you won't accomplish anything. If you don't play it safe all the time you can end up much further in life. You just have to be careful enough to take the right shots or else you'll be taken out of the game. If you do take the right shots at the right time you won't miss anything. In conclusion you should always try your hardest and always go for the goal.

If I put more effort into homework, into studying I could of had better grades and even better classes. I wouldn't of failed English or any other classes if I stayed after and studied harder.Alot of people say that I have potential and that I could do good but I never try hard enough I just go with the flow.If I took important opportunities like staying after school for help and even taking a half an hour or even an hour to sit down and study. I wouldn't have had to retake English class this year I would've still been in A-track science but its to late. This quote in my opinion is definitely true in every way if you don't take chances , try hard and let opportunities pass you by you won't succeed.
