  1. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I believe this quote means that do not follows other paths from other people and go where there is no path and make a trial for others to follow. it means don't be like others and be the ordinary one and make your own ways in life. leave a trial for others to follow so you can be known for what you've done and not from what others have done. This quote has related in my life because I am not the one to follow peoples lifestyles I like to do my own thing and make my own path. it relates to me because I dress a lot different from others and act different from others because I like to be ordinary and not basic like the rest of the people in this world. I am also very popular and a captain with football so I have to be a leader for those who follow me in life so making my own path in life just makes me a better person. This also relates to me because I use to be a follower and follow the paths from other people in life and I was also a no body when I did that so when I started making my own paths people started to follow and it made me who I am today.

    1. Mike i totally agree with what you trying to say in this quote . Make you own paths in life don't follow other people around because it will become a habit. I am also captain for my ice hockey team and i know how it feels to be a leader of the whole team. When your a captain the other players on the team look up to you. So in that case you are the leader of the team and all the other players are following you .

  2. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." What I think this quote means is that don't be a follower be a leader instead. For example don't do something just because your friends did it. Also don't say something just because your friends said it. This can relate to all of us because one time in our lives we were a follower or a leader. I'm sometimes always a follower but other times I can be a leader. One time actually during school my friend said something I forgot what it was but someone said don't agree with him just because I'm his friend.

    1. And its true. I agreed with him because I didn't like the other person. We all can be followers just because we like that person. But to be honest in reality we all can be a leader. I agree yes I do let me tell you why I agree. I agree because just like everyone else we choose to be a follower or a leader. You might not understand what I'm trying to say but its okay. Being a leader is what you want to do. You want to be able to set your own path a live a different life. If you be a follower then you'll end up with a life that nobody wants, unless its good. I want to be a leader sometimes I have the options to be and sometimes I don't. Being a means to be a good person and set amazing goals. Also being a leader is setting good examples so people like friends and families can follow. That's what I think he meant when he said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

  3. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." When he says this quote he pretty much means to be a leader not a follower. When you take the where it leads you are following the way. But when you go where there is no path you're going in your own way. And then you can leave a trail and show people other ways to take it.
I can relate this quote to a time in my life. The one time i can relate this quote to is when in class we played four corners. When our teacher said a question we had to go to the corner that we think is the right answer. When she asked a question everyone went to one corner, but i thought it was the other corner. I was going to go to the corner everyone was going to but i knew that I was right so i went to what I thought the answer was and I turned out to be right. If i went to the corner where mostly everyone was i would have gotten it wrong but i didnt. I went where “there was no path and i left a trail.” In conclusion, Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

    1. I agree with you Carly because I can relate to this quote as well. I can relate to it because one time I went with my friends over a fence to go to a bay. I knew it was wrong but I still went in there because I was following them. I left there and started playing basketball because I knew if I got caught I would've got in trouble. So I went my own path instead and started playing basketball. I didn't like going in there because over the fence had thorns and sharp objects so we all could've got really hurt and no would be able to tell what happen because no parent was there to watched. This is why I agree with you Carly, This is why.

  4. What Ralph Waldo meant when he said, "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. In my opinion, I think me meant to be a leader and not a follower or to not do something bad that other people around you are doing. For example, imagine yourself in high school on Monday and you over hear a couple of students in the hallway that people were doing meth and they were interested. Would you be interested in trying a drug and basically do whatever they do or would you choose not to do the drugs and make decisions that some people decide not to make. If you chose to not even touch a drug well than you are making your own decision that other people could agree with of how bad it is. Around my Mother's time, most people did not know how bad cigarettes were but my mom did not even want to touch them because at the time. People in high school that acted like they didn't care about the school were the people that were doing it. Another thing this quote can relate to is to not follow the leader but to become the leader and not the follower. Now you probably heard this from many teachers in middle school or in high school and there is a reason why they say that too. They are trying to say that don't follow other people that could end up not so well because they are not going to be the one who feeds you and takes care of you 24/7. It also means that if you become a follower you can do what you want to do and make the decisions you think is right and be able to accomplish what your life goal is. That is what I think Ralph Waldo meant by this quote.

    1. I agree with this because I think he was a leader not a follower. It's always better to be a leader. It will show people you have leadership.

    2. Keon you are completely right about what this says and I agree with you. I think it is better to be a leader than a follower and make your own choices in life. The same thing with following the wrong crowd it completely right too. Also with the part were others might agree so you are leaving a good trail for people to follow not the wrong one. I also believe what Keon says the quote means I agree with him 100%.

  5. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I believe this quote means be a leader not a follower. this relates too an experience cause when my friends are getting in trouble I walk away , so I can go far in life while they sitt there and joke around so I can be able too say told you so.

  6. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." When I hear this quote it makes think that not to follow others on their path but to create your own path. You can only go so far following your friend’s paths. Sometimes you need to not be a follower but be an individual. You can't always follow your friends and what their doing. For example, if your friend is on a path to failure you shouldn't follow them on that path because they are your friend. You should set your own path to success instead of being a follower and going on the wrong path. This quote relates to my life with my friends. Sometimes my friends act bad and do bad things. I like my friends but they are on the wrong path and I don’t want to be caught up in their mischief one day. I know I would never act like how they act in front of my parents so why would I act that way in public. I always keep in mind “what would mom say if I was on a path like that”. I know she wouldn’t be happy if I acted the way my friends acted. Setting your own path will not only keep you out of trouble it will make you successful. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." This is what I think of this quote.

    1. I agree with you Alvin old pal 100 percent its like copying of a test you can get so far with cheating. like the saying, give a man a fish he eats for a day, teach a man to fish he'll never be hungry. that's why I try to be a role model for my little brother. I don't want him to be a snob I want him to be nice and caring person. that's why teachers want you to grow up and not fool around. you'll have to live in the real world.

    2. I can truly see that Alvin gets this quote. And I can agree with him. Alvin tells us that instead of being a follower we have to be an individual. That's a hundred percent right. Being an individual is better then being a follower. You do your own things and go your own paths. Also when he says that if he wouldn't do things in front of his parents he wouldn't do it in other places is the right thing. If you would get in trouble with your parents by doing something maybe you shouldn't do it. That is why I agree with Alvin and his thoughts about this quote

    3. I agree with your blog. I agree because I also think people should make their own path. I also agree that you have to be an individual. And you don't wan to follow your friends just because they are your friends, because if they create a bad path you wont want that for yourself.

  7. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
I think this means that you shouldn't follow others you should be a leader. For example I am in JROTC we learn to have leadership and to not follow others. Showing that you have leadership or showing that you're a leader will make people want to be like you or do the same thing like be a leader. My mom always tells me that's it's better to lead because you learn new things on the path you're making. If you follow you're basically copying the person you're following. I would always want to be a leader because it shows something about you and that you're a good person. You're also not doing what everybody else is doing. For example a lot of people in school listen to rap and I don't. I listen to metal and rock. That can possibly make somebody want to check that music genre out. If they like it that doesn't mean they are following you it could be that they are interested in it and like it. if you like what somebody is doing or there style you can get that style without copying them. You just put things in your own way and you'll eventually become a leader. This is what I think "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail" means.

    2. I agree about what you said. The reason why is because it is always better to be a leader so that people will be inspired by you and they will then do something greater or equal value of what you did so the world will become a better place.

  8. What Ralph Waldo meant by, "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." is that you should not copy someone but make your own choices in life. There is no reason what you shouldn't . You need to learn from your own mistakes not by copying someone's mistakes because you will just be learning the same thing. I have several times that I started copying or doing something that I saw someone I admire do but stopped because I realized that I hated the activity or video game or anything. Once my brother Anthony said that the game God of War was boring and really stupid and I use to agree with him. However, I or my brother has played the game but one day I downloaded the demo for one of the games and it turns out I loved it but my brother still hates the game. Another example was when I was in second grade and I did and said everything my brother Danny did. And I was not being my self I was my brother Danny almost to the T. A year passes and then I realized I hated some of the things and I was just copying what he was doing. My last story was when my one friend stopped liking something because of his girl friend didn't like it. And it ticks me off so so so much when people in the relation ship doesn't like something and the other does and thee person that likes the thing changes there mind because they want to have the same exact things in common. The reason why he for some strange reason doesn't like the thing anymore was because the guy that made it said something and one person found it offensive and he called the person that word and now Tumblr is in red alert because he said something offensive. But what ticks me off even more is that he used the word not in a offensive way! Also he said way more offensive things then that in general. So that's what I think this quote means

  9. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. What i think this quote means is don't follow other people make you own way of things.Be a leader and let other people look up to you . Don't follow what other people are doing be your own person. If you follow somebody else then everybody will make fun of you.For example , maybe the person that you are following made a bad mistake. Then you follow what they did and you get in trouble for it. You don't want that happening. This quote relates to my life because when i was younger i followed a lot of people around. It started to become a habit and i would copy on how they play there style of hockey,i would copy peoples clothes. But then i stopped doing that and i started my own style. That made me much better at hockey to. I started to wear different clothes and just become a new person and i still am the same person now.I still follow some people with stuff but in a good way. For example, i follow the captain of the Central Ice Hockey team because he is really good at hockey and i try to be like him. This quote could be good or bad and in the case that i just discussed it was a good thing . This is what i think the quote "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

  10. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said " do not follow were the path may lead. Go instead were there is no path and leave a trail.'' I think he meant you should lead in a good way and others will follow. You have to be a leader and set good examples for others that are following. Like me and my brother. My brothers 4 so I have to set good examples for him or else my mother will yell at me. So there's only a few words that I can say. I also have a 12 year old sister. I have to set a good example for her so she doesn't make bad mistakes. I have some mistakes but I have to correct them for my family. I remember I fell and I was about to curse but I made up a word like shfhyatdhfh so he wouldn't repeat a curse word. I've done that a lot of times so my brother would hear bad words. No all we have to worry about is to get him on the toilet. My mom might say a curse when someone cuts her off on the parkway but average person from new jersey wouldn't. My brother would repeat it and laugh and I would say look what you did.

    1. I agree with you 100% Kenny. I have to be a role model for my little siblings. I don't want them to take the same path that I took. Therefore, I don't want them to make the same mistakes I did growing up. I've learned a lot in my 14 years but I think the most important is to be a leader not a follower. It's just like copying off a test. Yeah I can cheat off you but what happens when you're absent? I should just take a different path and study so I don't have to rely on you for answers. In conclusion, This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson means to be a leader and not a follower.

  11. A lot of people are to scared or to nervous to go their own way instead of following everyone else. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said,"Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." To any one it speaks to them giving them courage or motivation to try and do whats best for them. To be your own person and not be like anybody else because you think their cool. Be your own person if you want to fight for something you think is right or love then do it. If you see other people just sitting back doing nothing don't follow them stand up for yourself. For example if you saw a homeless man getting beat up and there are five other people that walk right past them without a second glance, do you follow their lead or do you get help for the poor guy? Instead of just doing something because you see other people doing something doesn't mean you have to do what their doing; be your own person leave a trail of hope for everyone around you. I remember one time i was walking and i saw this homeless guy with a sign that said," please buy me food." I watched him beg multiple people as they shook their head no and walked away. He looked depressed as any one would suspect, so I walked into Walgreen's and bought a whole bunch of snacks. I walked towards him and gave him the food I bought. He looked up at me shocked with joy and thankfulness in his guys. He shook my hand repeatedly saying thank you so much, over and over again. I set a path for myself, to help someone no one else would and to give him home.

    1. I truly agree with you on what you think Ralph Waldo Emerson quote means. And by that I mean how you wrote '' To be your own person and not be like anybody else'', ''Be your own person if you want to fight for something you think is right or love'', and '' If you see other people just sitting back doing nothing don't follow them stand up for yourself''.Therefore I also love the examples you gave to relate the quote. And also how you show courage and hope to help others because not many people have that kind of courage and hope you have. Therefore I really like how you thought of Ralph Waldo Emerson quote meant and the examples you gave to relate the quote too.

  12. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I think this quote means don’t be a sheep be a shepherd. You have to pave the way and be a ruler. If you show that you follow people nobody will think you are confident. If you are not confident and you take the way somebody already paved whatever is at the end might not be what you want, or what you believe in. If you show weakness or laziness that shows you aren’t confident. You can be very successful if you help people. If you pave a totally awesome path and other people see how great it is they will do similar things that you did and will try to pave an epic path. I think anybody can relate to this. Everybody always feels left out when the other people agree and they don’t and they know they are right. Just like Ralph Waldo Emerson says “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Also I think this means follow your dreams and not anyone else’s, and be you. If you’re scared to go your own way because someone else doesn’t believe the same thing as you than you have to try it and just see what happens. Who cares what other people think.

  13. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I think that he means that you shouldn’t follow other people footsteps. You should be a leader not a follower, what I mean by this is that if your friends are being rude you should just walk away on your own path and not to follow your friend’s behavior. For example, I used to be really good friends with this one girl. One day she wanted me to do something that would make me follow the same path as her, but I didn’t do it because I am my own leader. Many of us are leaders and follow our own paths. I know that it’s easier to follow others choices than to go by your own. Think of it like this, if you’re in the woods it would be easier to take the path or follow other people but if you go off and make your own path you will be pushing off branches and it will be more difficult for you. When you go off and make your own path, it shows how difficult it is to make the right decisions.

  14. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." What I think Ralph Waldo Emerson meant by his quote is that be yourself, be unique, and different. Also to not follow what everyone is doing, even though if it’s good. And start something new that no one has ever seen or thought of happening and then inspired others to do the same by them created something different as well. Therefore I also think this quote means is that don’t depend on the path that is leading you, create your own thing because you know what is happening. Also what will head towards you and show others to do the same and to depend on themselves. Anyway an example that I can relate to Ralph Waldo Emerson quote is that there is times where people may ask me to do this and that, but I don’t do it unless it’s a homework or an assignment I think its important. Instead I chose what I feel is right and what I want to do. What I mean by this is that when people ask me to talk more I don’t want to because what is there to talk about like I have nothing to say sometimes and I feel like my life is more calming when I don’t talk to no one and being calm is very important because I get really frustrated when it comes to working. Anyway this is what I think this quote means and an example that I can related it to my life.

  15. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I think this quote means that you shouldn't always follow people, you shouldn't always be a follower. Don't always do what other people do. Sometimes you need to start a new thing, you can always be a leader not always a follower. Some people always follow one another and never do what their mind tells them too, that's why I think that you should always follow your dreams. This quote relates to many people's lives not only mine, but it relates to my life in many ways also. One way it relates to my life is when all my friends were doing the key club and I wasn't really interested to I opened new path and got two other friend to join the autism club with me. I think it's very important to always follow your own path. It's very important to get involved with something you enjoy because if you don't enjoy doing what you're doing than you will want to go back to other people's paths. I think that Ralph Waldo Emerson has very wise words and it has a large and berry important meanings. So overall Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." I think he has very wise words and great meanings.

  16. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." What I think Ralph Waldo Emerson meant by his quote is that be yourself, be unique, and different. What I’m saying is why try to be like someone else when you could be yourself. Out of the 3 billion people on planet Earth, nobody is like you. You were born an original, don’t die a copy. Also, you could end up doing better than everybody else if you make your own trail. For example, all of LeBron James’s peers went to college and he didn’t. Therefore, LeBron didn’t follow where that path may have lead, instead he went in his own direction and went to the NBA (National Basketball Association) straight out of high school and became the most famous athlete in all of sports. Perhaps in all of sports history. One way LeBron James became more successful than his peers whom went to college is that most of them have not won an NBA Championship, while LeBron has recently added 2 to his collection. Also, LeBron has 4 MVP awards, Rookie of the year, and 3 Olympic Gold Medals when only being in the league for 11 years. Furthermore, LeBron James is doing pretty well for a guy whom made his own path to which more and more people are following. For example, Tavis Outlaw, Kendrick Perkins and Shaun Livingston all followed James’ path to greatness. Without LeBron not going to college the NBA wouldn’t be the youngest sport worldwide.

  17. I agree with this 100% Xavier. LeBron did set his own path of greatness. Not many people go to the NBA right out of high school. LeBron chose a path not many chose because he is unique and different. Now look at him, he is one of the best NBA players of all time because he chose his own path.

  18. What Ralph Waldo Emerson is saying try not to follow what every one else does but make a path for yourself that other people can follow. It is better to set the example of a good path than to follow someone else’s good path because you set an example for other people and you do something for yourself. If everyone followed each other’s path then we would be doing all the same thing and nothing new would every happen. I plan on making my own path than follow someone else’s because it wouldn’t be the same experience as if I chose do something different because maybe if I do that I could make something great out of it and be very successful. One of the main motoes I follow is be a leader not a follower because if you’re a follower u could follow the wrong crowd and turn out bad but if you’re a leader you can lead and not worry about anything happening because you’re leading.
I can relate this to an experience I had because I chose to play videogames and not do sports and just sit inside. I chose to play videogames and ignore what other people had to say so I just chose to do what I enjoy doing and not follow what most kids do in my generation which was do sports. If I would have chosen the path that other people did I probably be a different person than I am today.
