“It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get
up.” — Vince Lombardi
*Explain what you think this quote means?
* What does it mean to you personally? Give an example from
your own life when you have seen yourself or someone else experience this.
“It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” — Vince Lombardi. Personally I think that this quote is awesome! What it means to me is that if you fail at something it really doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is that you learn from that mistake and try again. Also, after you fail at something you can't stay in a slump all the time because you didn't succeed you have to go out in the real world, work hard, succeed and then be happy for your accomplishments. Yes it's ok to be a tiny bit sad at first because you didn't succeed,I get that, but you can't be held back by the little things in life. Life is too short so by getting back up from your fall will make your life so much better!
ReplyDeleteA time in my life when this quote can relate to me was in 6th grade. I decided I was going to turn my grades around from c's and b's to b's and possibly straight A's! I knew I could do it by making simple tweaks like stop talking in class or studying more. The next marking period I tried my best to get honor roll. Well sadly I didn't make the honor roll but it was only my first attempt. I also didn't stop talking in class and I didn't study for tests at all so I really wasn't that surprised. I was upset for a little bit like 5 minutes at the most but then I realized "hey you screwed yourself." Yes I fell that day, but I knew that next year in 7th grade I was gonna do my best to get that honor roll( the only reason I didn't say in 6th grade was because that was the last marking period.) but anyway the marking period starting 7th grade was awesome. I studied, did all my homework, stopped talking in class, and my grades improved!! I got high honors for the first marking period. I loved that feeling of success so much that the rest of my 7th grade year, every marking period, I got honor roll sometimes even high honors. Then came 8th grade. I did the same thing as 7th grade and I made high honors 2 marking periods and honors the other 2. That's 8 honor rolls in total if you add 7th and 8th grade. When 9th grade came i'm still getter high honors!! See it's not bad that I failed my 6th grade year it's just about how I learned from my mistakes and am doing wonderful in school now.
Good job carli you did awesome,i like the way you explained.keep it up with your grade!!
ReplyDelete“It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” — Vince Lombardi. Personally I think that this quote is very meaningful and great. I think it means that If at first you don't get it, try ,try until you succeed. Perseverance pay off. It also means that everyone gets slapped sown sometime but the important thing is to get back up and try again, Every time you make a mistake you always learn something from it. Once I had a trouble with math in 6th grade, first I thought it was hard I couldn't get it for a while. Because of my math subject my grades were getting low and I knew that my final exam was coming up. So decided to get up again and give it a try, so from that day I started practicing till my exam. When I was practicing I realized that I was making easy mistakes and I was getting interested in that subject so I decided to do as much practise as i can so I grab more practice sheets because I was getting motivated by what I was learning so I keep practicing everyday,Me and my friend studied at the same time for exams Now the exam day was one day away but I did'nt stop practising. On exam day I saw the question paper.I was very happy to see that the stuff that I practiced was on the exam.So I finish my test and recheck it twice. Now I was only waiting for the results. Later the result came in I did good on every other subject then I saw math and I pass the math exam I couldn't be happier that day.All those hardwork and practises paid off. I started realizing that I actually like math subject. Then grades by grades I was getting better and better at this subject.Getting floored does'nt mean anything its whether you get back up, this is an analogy meaning its saying it doesn't matter if you fail at something one time it matters whether you carry on instead of giving up. It's same a Japanese say Fall seven times and stand up eight. I always remember that you will be succeed in anything and never give up.
ReplyDeletei like your blog this week. I like the Japanese saying fall 7 times get up 8 , I couldn't agree wit it anymore. I also like how you explained and related this weeks quote to yourself. good job!
DeleteGood job this week! I agree with what you said about how you always have to get up after you fall. Also I liked how you related the quote to yourself. I think you are a very talented writer! Keep up the great work
DeleteI really enjoyed reading your blog this week. I loved the examples that you used. Such as practicing math everyday until you got it. I also loved what you said about the Japanese saying. Keep up the good work and I cant wait for your next blog!
DeleteNot only a great man but a national football league legend. Vince Lombardi once said that “ its not wether you get knocked down, it is wether you get up.” This quote can mean many things. I think this quote mean exactly what it says, you can get knocked down or fail but if you do not get up from the fall or getting knocked down and bounce back is what really really matters. If you were to have a set back that is not a big deal but it is a big deal if you just quit, you have to get back up and keep going and push through it. For example in 7 grade I did not do very well hitting in baseball, but over the off season I worked hard to bounce back from that in 8 grade. In 8 grade I did great and made the ocean county all star team. I got knocked down in 7 grade and even though there was an option of just quitting I didn’t and I got up and worked hard to get better. Another example is grades. I used to not like studying and would only get bs in school. I worked hard and now I am getting mostly as and on an occasion a b. this quote means to me personally, that it does not matter how many times you get knocked down, it matters how many times you fight through what is going on and keep pushing forward. Another example I have of this quote is football. When I used to play football I got hurt. Even though it was a set back I couldn’t quit, I pushed through the problems and kept playing because I knew that it was important to bounce back. I think even when you get hurt or you do something that you are not satisfied it doesn’t matter it is how you try to improve and affect the injury or grades in a positive way. Every time you fall you should always try again because the fall is not what matters, what matters is you getting back up. Nothing should every make you quit because that is not what matters.
ReplyDelete"“It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” Was said by Vince Lombardi. This quote is a very straight forward quote. It means that it doesn't matter how hard you can hit someone, it matters how hard you can get hit and get back up. If you are in a fight with someone, it doesn't matter how hard you hit. It matters how hard you can get punched and still get back up and keep fighting, without getting knocked out. Some people are all talk and say how they will beat them up but can't take a punch. This quote relates to real life situations also. For example, you tell someone to get over something when they are going through something tough. But if you were to go through something even half as hard, you wouldn't be able to handle it. To me personally, this quote can be emotional and/or physical. For emotional purposes, it can be for bullying. Someone may be able to bully and bully and bully all they want. They think that it doesn't effect them in any way or form but it does. If they ever got bullied they would understand how hard it really is. Now on a physical note, it can be for anything really. For example, talking about other sports to others can be a physical example. Someone will talk about how easy soccer is. They say that the sport they play is so so much harder but in reality, they can't even play. They would get hit with the ball and can't keep playing.
ReplyDeleteHey Summer, great job on your blog this week. I completely agree about this quote being emotional and or physical. I like what you said about bullying, I think the same exact way and understand where you're coming from 100%. You did a wonderful job explaining what this quote meant to you, great job this week!
Delete"It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up." -Vince Lombardi. What this quote means to me is, it's not about the problems that you're facing; it's the way you handle them. It doesn't matter what's going on in your life, or how anybody feels about you; it's all about what you do and how you take things in. You could have something going on and learn how to deal with it, or take it on and become bitter. There's no in between. Issues may change people because nobody learns how to hold their head up, very quickly at least. What people do and say has no importance to you, you're your own individual and nobody could change that unless you let them. To me personally, this quote means that no matter what you go through; good or bad you need to fight through it. I believe everybody learns that and gets the hang of it, but it's a big deal in society. When I read this, I automatically thought of bullying. If somebody's hurting you and bringing you down, don't be afraid to stand up for yourself. You need to fight back no matter how many times they push you down. When somebody knocks you down, you better get back up or you're letting them win. You're letting them win all because you gave them a reaction. In my life, many people have gone through this. Both holding their head up high AND falling through the cracks and becoming bitter. A family member of mine lost their job about a year back. I expected them to be sad and drag it out, maybe lose a lot of money; but quicker than I ever thought they were laughing, smiling and trying new things. The day she lost her job she was already going for other ones, I was completely shocked. I was shocked because life hit her really hard, and she got up and fought back with everything she had. She never gave up or looked down on herself, but without a thought or care in the world she kept going for her family. When life brings you down, it's your best bet to get up and try again. There's nothing worse than knowing you gave up on what you love/loved. You can't control how other people treat you, but you can control how you react.
ReplyDeleteHey Mia, I think you did very good on this weeks blog. I totally agree with you on what tis quote means and it defiantly ties into bullying. Like you said " don't be afraid to stand up for yourself. " that's the biggest problem today, kids are getting bullied and aren't standing up for themselves, nobody can do that for you. Anyway, great job this week, im looking forward to reading next weeks!
DeleteGood job on your blog this week Mia! I agree completely with your opinion on how it's about how you handle yor problems. Good job!!
Delete“It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get up.” To me this quote means many things and it means what it says. If you fail, you should try again and try to redeem yourself. If you don’t your just setting yourself up to fail for good. It’s about what you do and the way you handle them. Say you didn’t do well on math test and you say “oh well, looks like ill fail every test” that’s not a positive attitude. In order to redeem yourself you should have a positive attitude, that’s how you will get through life, not giving up. To me personally, I think this quote means that everyone goes through good and bad time in their life but no matter what you go though, you have to stay strong in order the “get up”. This quote reminds me so much of when I played basketball. So, I guess you can say my coach was a really tough coach. He expected a lot from the team and he wanted us to succeed, but in order to do that he needed to get tough on us. When I mean he was a “tough” coach I really mean it. This guy would get mad at us during a game and would take his shoes off and throw them. He would rip his tie off, even one time; he ripped the sleeves off of his shirt. Everyone on the team had a day where he would put us down and make us feel like we couldn’t play basketball anymore, but in the end you have to realize that there are going be people that cross the line but you can’t listen to them you just have to believe in yourself. Including me, there was time when he told me something, I listened but all the negativity that was there went in one ear and put the other. I was keeping my confidence up instead of putting my head down. Overall, this quote means many things and I think we all should look in the mirror and say to our selves that we should “get up and not get knocked down.” This quote is inspirational for me so it should be for others also.
ReplyDeletethis blog was really good this week. I like the quote a lot and I like how you wrote about it. You explained every part perfect. I agree with everything you said. good job this week and every other week you wrote. Youre a great writer.
Delete“It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up” was once said by Vince Lombardi. I think this quote means that it isn’t about the negative parts. Don’t think the worst that can happen. Because once you think about all the negative stuff it will never stop. If you make a mistake don’t let that stop you get right back up and fix it. If someone tells you that you can’t accomplish something don’t let that ‘knock you down,” show them you can and make them look stupid. So many people look for others to give up on something to have that person look better. But once you get right back up it is a whole different story. The quote means actually the way you read it. Some might think of other reasons but the most thing is failure and to not give up. This quote says a lot about something. If they are brave enough or willing enough to not end something they were doing. If you mess up and don’t get back up then people will know you are afraid and can’t do the right thing and will look down on you. But if you mess up and get up then people will know you are set to it and know you messed up and want to do the right thing. Those are the people that others want to look up to. It isn’t always about how popular someone is to look up too. It can be about how that person looks at themselves and knows what the right thing it. Some people don’t pay attention to that and just go for stupid things. I can relate to this because when it came to school I was started to get lazy and stop doing my work. At first I didn’t care and thought it was the best idea I ever made. But after a while I saw everyone getting better and doing better things then me. So I got right back up and told myself I wasn’t going to do this anymore. I started to like what I was getting in my classes and I was happy. Right now I doing better than I ever did.
ReplyDeleteA wise man that goes by the name of Vince Lombardi once said “It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get back up.” This quote could mean many different things to many different people, depending on the people that you ask, that surround you. To me, this quote means that it does not matter if you fail at something that you do. What really matters is whether you get up and try again. Also, it matters how many times you get back up and try before you success at what you are trying to do. Last, it means that after you fail at trying to accomplish something, you can not just sit back and let it affect you. You have to always get back up and just try harder. You have to learn from your mistakes and do whatever you can to not make the same one (mistakes) again.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I really like this quote, mainly because I feel that it is really inspiring. There are many times in my life that can relate to this quote. First, the first year that I started cheer, my team was not really good. Most of the people on my team were all beginners so we did not really know how the whole cheer and competition thing worked. That year, we lost so we did not make it to the next competition which is regionals. Just because we lost did not mean tt I wanted to give up. It actually made me work harder he next season. That next cheer season, we got third place and we made it to regionals. We lost regionals but that just made me want to do it even more the next season. Every season after that we did better and better. Then, we got national champions. Another way that this quote can relate to my life is with my grades. I have been striving to get good grades, basically, since I started school. The first time that I actually got honer roll was when I was in third grade. I was really excited and continued to try and get good grades but I could not get honor roll again until I got into the middle of fifth grade. Ever since then, I continued to try and succeed at getting honor roll and then even high honor roll. Whenever I try something and fail, I always get back up and try again because I never want someone to remember me as a quitter, or as someone who doesn't get back up after they get knocked down.
I really like the way you explained yourself. You gave really good details. Also, I like the examples you gave to relate this with your life. Great job and keep up the good work
Delete“It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” said by the wise and powerful football star, Vince Lombardi. I believe Vince means when he says this is when you fail, you shouldn’t hold onto that failure negatively. I believe that he means if you get up, the failure is powerless and you have a better chance to do better this time around. Many people try and when they fail they give up completely and never try again. What I believe Vince is saying is that if you fail but you get up and try once again. What really matters is whether you get up and try again. Also, it matters how many times you get back up and try before you succeed at what you are trying to do. This Quote means a few things to me, it can relate to trying again with a fresh start each time you get up after falling down. For Example, when you learn to do something for the first time, like surfing. You fall, or fail very often continuously until you finally learn how. Nobody is good at something when they first learn. When I first learned how to surf I remember how frustrating it was and how angry I became the longer it took for me to learn. Luckily I never gave up and I continued to try and try again. Another time this quote relates to my life is when I first got into 5th grade. Everything was very different and I felt uncomfortable due to the amount of unknown people and the separation between the people I had been close with. I began to do tremendous in school and avoided my schoolwork, and my grade lowered every day, I began to think the simplest things were difficult and I was unable to do them, and I failed and failed until i made a few new friends and things got easier and simpler from there on. If you give up on the first try, what was the point of even trying in the first place. You should always go back and try harder than the first time, trying again leads to improvement and thats what leads to success.
ReplyDelete“It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” This is a very motivational quote. It was first said by Vince Lombardi. What I think this quote means is no matter what happens to you you don't give up. Doing something wrong can help you to do it right the next time. It's up to whether you stop and never find out what could happen or you learn from that mistake and go on. No one one was born perfect. We all have to go through obstacles and challenges to get to where we want. I can relate this to myself by I play soccer. I always had to go through many things to improve myself. During a game I could get pushed around, kicked on my legs or start bleeding from heading a ball and hitting my head with someone else and I would still keep going. Nothing will stop me from what I enjoy doing. I work hard everyday to improve my body and the way I play the game. Also, I can relate this with my mom. As a kid I was always moving from place to place. When I came to America I saw my mom work really hard. My dad left us when I was little but that didn't stop my mom from anything. She had to work two jobs and I would see my mom coming home late everyday. She always told me that things would get better. She is the strongest person I know. She worked hard to give me the things she was never able to have as a kid. Tom deblose came to our school to talk to us about him. He told us that matter what happens nothing should stop us from getting to our goals. Things can pop up out of no where but that's not a reason why you should stop. I've been trying to bring all my grades up because they aren't the best. I get home from working out tired but now I go straight to my homework. I've been feeling better than ever and I'm going to try to keep it that way. I'm going to try to make varsity track this spring and varsity soccer for next fall and I'm going to work hard to get there. “It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” This quote can be related to anyone in anyway. Vince Lombardi was a successful man.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with how you look at this quote. I think putting about your mom in there and she was working 2 jobs to support you is good. I bet it wasn't easy for her after she was left and she hustled and everything worked out.
DeleteA football legend named Vince Lombardi once said, “It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” I personally really love this quote! It doesn't matter when you fail or make a mistake, what matters is if you get back up and try again. Yes, it is hard to do that at times but sooner or later you have to get passed it. Everything is going to be okay in the end. You can get knocked down many times in life. It may happen with your grades or whenever your guard is down. There is no such thing as a perfect day, or perfect anything. When you try new things, you are always starting off as an amateur. All professionals started out that way. You have to keep trying to be a professional at it. This quote might relate to a girl named Katelyn Kuster on the girls' basketbal team. She recently reached 1000 points and made school history. She must have worked extremely hard, and got knocked down a couple times, before she made it to where she is now.You can always accomplish anything as long as you work hard for it.
ReplyDeleteThis quote can relate to my life in many ways. I have been knocked down before, everybody has. When I was younger, I rarely got honor roll. When I entered middle school I decided that I wanted to try and get it. I tried my best every marking period in seventh grade but I never did. I wondered to myself why I wasn't getting it. I then became an eighth grader and I checked out what the requirements were for honor roll. I worked really hard and I finally got honor roll in the first marking period. I got it in the third marking period too. Ever since, I have been working very hard in my classes and I have gotten high honor roll in both first and second marking period of freshman year.
Life can hit you hard and knock you down, but you have to get up. Pain doesn't last forever, but if you don't get up, it will last forever. You have to stop telling yourself that you can't, because trust me, you can. You just haven't figured that out yet. Go on and go live your dreams. Stop hesitating because that is what's holding you back. This is how I feel about the quote, “It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.”
in my opinion I think that the quote “It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” — Vince Lombardi mean that there is an endless amount of things in life that are going to knock you down. Some people may hate you because you have more than them and that will put you down. Mabey there was a death in your family and your down in the dumps. Mabey at your soccer game you missed that game winning goal that everyone expected you to make and you guys lost the state championship. Because all of those things have happened to me. And it is possible. There are thing that happen to you every day that will make you want to just stay down. But if you stay down, you don’t even have a fighting chance. You have to get up no matter what. Be a person that doesn’t care about what other people say. And then to shove everything that you possibly can back in there face, prove them wrong. Make them feel stupid after you are on TV and they are watching you. Make them feel so dumb that they wished they were you. This quote has a lot of meaning to me because I have a career in soccer and at the moment, its ot so hot. I’ve been really sick and not able to play so im itching to get back out there. I want to get back up and show that even after I have been sick, I can still be a great player. I want to be the best I can be and show all of the people that have told me I wasn’t going to be able to do it that I cant do it but I will. And I will show all of these people that I can and they are wrong
