This quote could mean many things but to me it means don’t put people down. If you tell some one they can’t do some thing or you call them names like stupid, slow, annoying, ugly, etc. they’ll start to believe you and think less of themselves. For example if some one came up to you every day and said “I hate you, no one even knows you exist, you’re worthless.” You start to believe them and you think every day that why even try when no one notices me and the people that do think I’m worthless, what’s the point?. The kind of people who this stuff gets said too is the fish in the quote. The fish gets put down cause he wants to climb the tree but can’t because no one is there to help him go up. They just want the fish to fail, so they keep him down. And the person wants to try to get better but can’t because of what every one is saying to them.
Personally I find this quote very inspirational. I feel this way because it teaches us that people have feelings and we need to respect them. We should not be putting other humans down we should be building them up because that’s the right thing to do. I know this person named Lillian Walker, every one made fun of her and was like “ Ohhh do you like walk a lot?”. Then she felt bad about her self and didn’t want to walk anymore. So instead of not moving Lillian Walker, my dear friend, started to run every where. No one could stop her from running. But she soon realized that no one could put her down any longer and decide after getting detention for running in the halls that she would walk again. Today Lillian Walker walks with her head held high and doesn’t take any crap for anyone cause she was a fish that climbed the tree (actually she walked up the tree) even though people were putting her down. BTW (by the way) this is not based on true events.

Meaning there are things they excel at. Not just someone being good at math because someone could be good at math but hate doing math, so math would not be their state of genius. The state of genius only happens when you love what you’re doing, when it fuels you, when you lose track of time because you’re so caught up in what you’re doing and you’re so good at it. Have you ever been doing something productive and you completely lose track of time? Hours have passed you don’t think about being hungry or tired you may even say you’re “on a roll” and want to just use that momentum to keep doing what you’re doing?Whether you were in this flow wrapping presents or cleaning the house or giving a friend advice-it’s different for everyone but we've all been “on a roll” doing something.Everyone has glimpses of this state of genius flow or ‘on a roll’ feeling. But how much of your day or job do you spend feeling this way about what you’re working on? I say you should feel this way at least 90 percent of your day, but don’t worry if that’s not the case now, just take action to figure it out.

But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” That man was the great Albert Einstein himself. I think his quote means that you shouldn't judge or make fun of someone while they are trying to figure out what they want to do life or is trying something new. That will only discourage them. Then they feel like crap because they want to try this new thing so badly and be good at it but they don't have the confidence to turn around and say, "Who cares what you think. I want to do this so either support me or get out of my face because I don't have time for that." So then that person goes on in life thinking why would I ever think of that I must be so stupid when in reality it was a fantastic idea that they could have totally succeeded or made a career out of it. Like for example lots of famous actors got judged, made fun of, or bullied for liking drama and wanting to become an actor or actress. Those people blocked out the bad people and focused on the good people and they worked hard to get to the point in their life. Now look where they are! Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale, Ellen Degeneres, Chris Rock, Sandra Bullock, and many more. Life wasn't always so easy.
ReplyDeleteThis quote relates to me because I wanted to surf and longboard since I was young, but every one thought I would be terrible because I am so clumsy. I'm still a little rusty at surfing but I haven't given up yet. Although I am pretty good at long-boarding if I do say so myself. At first my mom and dad thought I was going to break my neck instantly, but my dad gave in and bought me my first longboard for my birthday in 7th grade. That was the same year they bought me my first surfboard for Christmas. Sadly I couldn't use it that summer because my parents didn't trust the water after hurricane Sandy with the roller coaster and houses being in the water and all. But in the end I proved everyone wrong and that I could succeed in things I'm interested in if I had the confidence and a little support.
I like your response. I think that Albert Einstein is a very knowledgeable man just like you too. Your response was very good with your own life experiences. I think that your example is the exact meaning of this quote.

In my opinion this quote can mean many things. I believe the point Albert Einstein was trying to get across that everyone has there own unique ways of being smart and different in there own ways. Personally I think that this quote can mean many things but it is just how you interpret it. Some people will think of it differently because of there own life experiences. In my opinion this quote means if you judge someone by what they can and can not do, they will never have enough guts to do or show people what they are really good or not good at. For example if a kid gets made fun of for not being able to play volley ball good, they will never show there talent even if they become really good over time with practicing because they are afraid that they will be made fun of for what they do. Like this kid that I met a while back, he was really bad at hockey. Like cant even skate bad. So everyone made fun of this kid. But it the back of my head I knew that one day because he working so hard that he would be a good player. That happened and he was better than some of the kids that laughed at him. “If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing it is stupid.” Is a great quote by a great man and I believe that anyone can relate to this quote in different ways. In my opinion this is one of Albert Einstein greatest quotes he has ever stated. Over all I like this quote this week and it happens in people lives all of the time, we just do not realize it. From my point of view I think this quote means if you expect someone to do something and you know that they might not be able to do it as well as you or they can’t do it at all, you shouldn’t make fun of them for it. Everyone is different and everyone has something special to him/her. That’s what I think Albert Einstein is trying to say, not everyone is the same and you should respect that. Personally, I think this quote means if you put someone down because they aren’t as good as you at something , it’s not going to help them get better. It just puts them down more and more and you don’t let them gain confidence. “If you judge a fish by the way it climbs a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing it’s stupid.” I think that part of the quote means exactly what it says, yeah the fish climbing a tree is hard to understand but it means something. For example, if you were to tell your friend that they can’t do math and that they are stupid, they might take it to heart, even know you might be joking, they can’t take it the wrong way and go their entire life thinking what you said is true. I have seen situations like this in my life with kids in school or just in public. I have seen kids say another kid that they are stupid and they believe it. They think that they are actually stupid. I think it’s a big problem because people today commit suicide because someone says to them that they shouldn’t deserve to be on this earth. These kids hear that and it hurts them badly, you wouldn’t want someone to say that to you, would you? No, you would want someone to compliment you on what you do or the way you dress. Overall, I think this quote is important and people should think about what they are going to say before they say it.

I believe this quote means that you shouldnt judge someone by how they do things because it will bring them down and make them depressed and then they will be embarrassed to do the thing s they want because they think they will be judged. This is a bad thing because if everyone did this in the world then everyone would be ashamed by the things they love to do and would no longer love them because they would judged for doing those things. I have never had experienced this becausw i have never heard someone judge me unless they do in secret behind my back but id i had been judged then i would be embarrassed to keep doing what i was doing because other people would make fun of what i like to do or how i do it. I believe this also plays in with how the world is now corrupt and that theres evil people out there now that are mean and dont do nothing but love and i believe this quote aims at them directly because they are the ones that are judging "the fish how it climbs a tree". If there were no haters then no one wpuld feel embarresed or bullied or hated. Thats what i think Abert Einstein meant by "Everybody is a genius. Everyone is smart but at times can be really stupid with their actions or what they say if they don't pay attention and goof off. Everyone has things that they are really good at but just do not realize what they are in for. This quote also can do a lot with judging. To me this could mean to not judge before you really see what the person is good at. Do not dwell on the little things like people that think you can not do anything you set your mind to like that's one of the main reasons i have answered.I used to believe it or not have had people judge me. They either say it to my face or behind my back but i did not listen to them and I kept doing what i was doing and that got me where i am today. I believe the point Albert Einstein was trying to get across that everyone has there own unique ways of being smart and judging or making fun of some one could waste some ones life making them think of themselves as stupid even though they are not. Personally I think that this quote can mean many things and some people will think of it differently because of there own life experiences . in my opinion this quote means if you judge someone by what they can not do they will never have enough confidence to do or show people what they are able to do. Most people think smart is how well you can solve a math problem or how good your grades are, but there are different ways of being smart. Some people can be smart by being good at art or writing, others are smart by being able to solve problems, some are smart by being good at talking to people. Theres many ways to be smart, people just don't realize it. Schools are a good example of this quote in real life. Schools judge kids on how good they do on tests and what theyre grades are, but some kids just arent good at that stuff. A kid could be really smart but just not do good in school, it all depends on the person. You wouldnt judge a fish by how well it climbs a tree because fish can't climb trees, but they are really good swimmers. So it wouldn't make sense to judge a person on how good they do in school if theyre not good at school but theyre really good at something else. For example im good at making money and business but i dont do good in school but a lot of people judge me for my grades or that im in B track. To some people i seem not that smart but im really smart in other things that can still take me far in life. A lot of my friends have this problem too, where many people see them as one thing even though they aren't. People judge others on the wrong things a lot and it brings a lot of people down and sometimes it can affect their life in a big way. Like if people constantly bring someone down even though theyre really good at something it can make them not want to do it anymore and then they lose that chance to be really good. Overall this quote is saying to not bring people down and to look for the things they are good at.

Everybody is smart and worth something but if you judge them for doing something different or something they aren't expected to do they will feel stupid. It's pretty much saying that if you judge someone, you will offend them and make them upset.Just because people can't do the something right doesn't make them any less of a person than anyone else. Everyone is unique and "genius" in their own way, just maybe not the way society wants them to be. From my life experiences, whenever I dress differently then some people, people usually stare and laugh at me. That brings me down because I feel like I'm the outcast of everybody else but I just have to say to myself that I can do whatever I want to and not care what other people think or say. I live the life I want to and not wanna hear people telling me what to do. that is what I think the quote "Everybody is a genius.
