  1. Vince Lombardi once said “It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” What he means by that is , its not how hard you get knocked down , its how fast you get back up. I can relate to this quote because in football I remember I was starting my Midget season. And I was a young kid playing with 14 15 year olds. My first couple weeks at practice was hell, but I got with it and did my duties. Some teammates respected me because I came to practice , unlike all the other little rookies who only went to 1 practice and went back to there PeeWee class. Eventually I got respect from the starting offense and defense. Sooner or later I got good with the coaches who helped me prepare for games by studying our playbooks.

    1. I totally agree with what you are saying. even though you were the youngest you didn't let that discourage you. You wanted to play football and you tried your best and didn't give up on playing.

    2. I completely agree with what your saying, you really explained this weeks quote. And be adding the stuff about football you tied it all together making it a perfect response.

  2. “It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” Once said by Vince Lombardi. To me this quote that it doesn’t matter if you fail because the only thing that does matter is trying again. No one really fails until you stop trying that’s when you really fail. Like if someone say tries out for a sport and they don’t make it, they feel like they failed. If they decide to sit down and given up that is when they really fail, but the person who decides to practice and works hard and keeps trying until they make it. That’s the kind of person who doesn’t fail because they tried their hardest and learned how to improve their self. The most important thing is not too given up because once you give up once, you do it again and then it becomes a habit. And that is not a good habit to have.
I remember in 7th grade it was my first year ever playing field hockey. I honestly didn’t know if I was going to liked it but I tried it. I wasn’t the best but I wasn’t the worst. I did end up liking it though. I ended up playing defense because no one else wanted too. When you play that position you need to know how get the ball out of the other persons control. At first I wasn’t good at all. So I started practicing on the weekends. I would make my friends that played bring their sticks and I’d try and get it from them. No matter what I wouldn’t give up. It took a while but I didn’t care. Even chance I got to improve myself I would. Then finally I was starting to see improvement and so was my coach. I started to start games and then as I got better, I started playing full games. And I’m still trying to improve myself with field hockey. I know what I need to work on and I will because I don’t want to be the type of person who always gives up. I use to be that way with school. I didn’t get good grades cause I didn’t care and giving up comes naturally and I am doing my best to break that habit.

    1. I agree with your opinion 100%. No matter what you kept trying and that is a very good thing to do. No matter what the cause was eventually you got better because when you fell you rose back up because you didn't give up and that is key.

    2. I absolutely agree with ur opinion. Keep trying no matter what because eventually, you will u succeed at what you're trying to do. Never give up at anything because then you will never be able to do it. Practice makes perfect.

    3. I completely agree with you especially when you talk about making it seem like you never got knocked down in the first place. I say this because I also agree with you when you say that doing this could intimidate your opponents. I also think that your real life example was very true to the quote. Any way good job and nice quote.

  3. A wise man, named Vince Lombardi, once said, “It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get back up.” This could mean many different things to many different people. What I think it means is that it’s not whether you get shut down; it’s whether you go back and try again. This quote reminds me of another quote. It goes, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” This quote can be used in many specific events. It can be used during a sport tryout. If you don’t make it on the team, just practice some more and prepare for the next one. Most of the time you will succeed on the second try. This quote can also be used when you get rejected by that guy/girl that you like. If he/she says no, don’t let that bother you in the future. Just be like they missed out or they weren’t the one for you. That’s how most of us get through it, right? This quote can also be used when you don’t pass that driving test that you were hoping to pass on the first try. Most of the people that did take their driving test didn’t pass on the first try. I know my parents didn’t. They had to take it at least two times before actually passing. They just acted the quote that Lombardi said and they succeeded. They got up after getting knocked down.
What this quote means to mean personally is that you shouldn’t give up after just one attempt. I let that get in the way when I was in 7th grade. It was November 2012 and I just got my physical filled out on the last day of basketball tryouts. I had missed the first two days because I had things to get done, but eventually I got to it. I played the best I could and made a couple of shots, but that wasn’t enough. I did not end up making the team, but that did not stop me. I practiced everyday after that and now I’m better than I was then. I listened to what Vince Lombardi said and I got up after getting knocked down.

  4. A football coach of the Green Bay Packers, Vince Lombardi once said "Its not whether you get knocked down; its whether you get back up." I think this quote means that if you get knocked down that it docent matter because you should bounce back even better than the last. That your better than what had brought you down and that you should show that you are stronger and learn from your lesson before and don't let it knock you down next time.

    1. I agree with your statement one hundred percent. I believe that you should bounce back if you get knocked down. That is important part of this quote. And you also taught me that Vince Lombardi was coach of the Green Bay Packers. Thanks for that!

  5. “It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” said Vince Lombardi. I think this quote means it doesn't matter if you fail it matters if you get back up and try again. That is the whole point of the message's meaning he is probably trying to get at.
I mean It should already be the case that if you are bad at something and not do good at it you should always have the sudden urge to keep at it. So that you can get better at what your not. It is not good to be a quitter its better to fight through and get better. I know it might be hard but it doesn't hurt to try if you set your mind to it. When I was in sixth grade i wasn't the best at fitting in. I would eventually get tired of trying and give up. But I knew that it would eventually get me to nowhere. I had the bright idea to follow people but that didn't work out. But the key is I never gave up no matter how hard it was I kept trying and eventually I got back on the right path and started to fit in and that is my story. Just remember there is always a way to get back up when you are down you just have to try.

    1. I completely agree with your comment. Even if you aren't good at something you should have the urge to try hard and get better. You shouldn't be a quitter. Being a quitter means that you failed yourself.

  6. Vince Lombardi once said " It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get back up. I think this quote means that it doesn't matter that u failed the first time because you can learn from your mistakes and try again. It means that everyone gets pushed down sometime but the important thing is to get back up and try again. I had a experience related from my own life. A few months ago I wanted to be on the bowling team, but I wasn't that good. I was very fustrated because a bunch of times the ball would go right in the gutter. My cousin who is great at bowling decided to teach me how to bowl. The first couple of times she taught me i was still bad, but after awhile I became very good at bowling because I never gave up! So as you can see, the quote, "It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get back up." Teaches everyone that you should never give up at anything! Keep believing yourself!

  8. Not only a great man but a national football league legend. Vince Lombardi once said that “ its not wether you get knocked down, it is wether you get up.” This quote can mean many things. I think this quote mean exactly what it says, you can get knocked down or fail but if you do not get up from the fall or getting knocked down and bounce back is what really really matters. If you were to have a set back that is not a big deal but it is a big deal if you just quit, you have to get back up and keep going and push through it. For example in 7 grade I did not do very well in football, but over the off season I worked hard to bounce back from that in 8 grade. I got knocked down in 7 grade and even though there was an option of just quitting I didn’t and I got up and worked hard to get better. Another example is grades. I used to not like studying and would only get bs in school. I worked hard and now I am getting mostly as and on an occasion a b. this quote means to me personally, that it does not matter how many times you get knocked down, it matters how many times you fight through what is going on and keep pushing forward. Another example I have of this quote is football. When I used to play football I got hurt. Even though it was a set back I couldn’t quit, I pushed through the problems and kept playing because I knew that it was important to bounce back. I think even when you get hurt or you do something that you are not satisfied it doesn’t matter it is how you try to improve and affect the injury or grades in a positive way. Every time you fall you should always try again because the fall is not what matters, what matters is you getting back up. Nothing should every make you quit because that is not what matters.

  9. Vince Lombardi once said, “It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” This quote means that you shouldn't care if you fail and you should be able to bounce back and keep trying. Everybody fails all the time, it just happens, so you shouldn't let that get you down. You have to keep trying because that's what really matters. This quote is saying that it isnt the end of the world when you fail because it happens all the time, but whats really bad is when you give up just because it didnt work the first time. This can relate to when youre learning something for the first time, like an instrument or a sport. You cant just give up because youre not good at it. You have to have dedication and you have to be able to keep going and get better and not give up. You have to have self confidence and believe you can do it even after things tell you that you cant. Vince Lombardi is a legend in the football league, so when he said this he was probabbly talking about sports. I think this is really important in sports because all athletes get knocked down somehow. They can get injured or make a really big mistake or have to deal with rumors spread about them. But even if they did make a mistake they should be able to keep going and get better and learn from their mistakes, because thats what makes a true athlete. I can relate this personally to my friend Ethan. He was in B track for a while and didnt do that well in school. But in eighth grade he worked a lot harder because he wanted to try for A track and because he worked hard and didnt give up on himself he got to move up to A track. This year he's trying to get into honors so that he can keep getting better. Even though he was down at first he believed in himself and worked hard so that he could pick himself back up. Everybody has lows so they shouldnt be judged on that and instead they should be judged on how they get better and if they try to make themselves better.

  10. One day a very wise man once stated, “It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” That wise man was, Vince Lombardi. I think this quote means that no matter how hard you fall you should always try your absolute hardest to get right back up and try ten times harder than you originally did. Like in a sport, you get shoved a few times while running with the ball and sometimes you fall and lose it. Then instead of just letting that player get away with it you get up and bust your butt trying to get the ball back. Then you take that ball and score. You should always try your hardest and never give up no matter what the odds are. Even if they are the best team in the world. Show them that you are ready to do your best and play a good game. This quote doesn't just apply to sports though. When you make a mistake or do something bad you get knocked back a bit. Then you bounce back and try to be only the best version of yourself. Even in school when your grades drop you work hard to get them back up.
This quote relates to me because I always try my absolute hardest all the time. In field hockey and in lacrosse. In one of the first games I almost scored my first goal but sadly it didn't count. I got to have a free shot on goal... and I missed... by a lot. I was really disappointed in myself and I thought every one was disappointed in me too. So I didn't play as good as I knew I could. Then my lacrosse coach pulled me over at the end and told me not to worry and that I will get the ball and score in the next game and that no one was disappointed. It is only my first season and I'm still learning like everyone else. So in the next game the ball went up from the draw and I caught it. I ran towards the goal in an epic break away and scored and it counted! I got a goal in the first 30 seconds of the game! My coaches and teammates were all proud of me.

  11. The quote “It's not whether you get knocked down; it's whether you get up.” — Vince Lombardi means that you should never give up no matter what. This quote relates to me because I play sports and when you fail you cant give up. Also when you lose a game you can not give up. An example of this from a movie i saw was called the blowout. It was a football team who lost the championship but they never gave up and they ended up winning the championship the next year. An example from my life is that I lost my basketball game and i did not give up, i came back the next day and scored 20 points because i did not give up.
